Oh my lovely lovelies, please understand that we are currently setting this up right now. Nothing is set in stone and please, oh please, do not post anything here.

On rare occasion a teacher will gain a beacon and awaken. Nobody knows why this happens but it does happen sometimes.

Teachers are rare characters that are RP required. It is vital they be available for RPs with any students in their school that want one. They may also need to play key roles in class time ORPs to keep them rolling. Getting a teacher is agreeing to these responsibilities. Those who fail to be actively played will be rehomed or retired based on their impact on the setting.

A note on customs and questing
Please note that teachers and student teachers are both rare. Almost all characters that are made at DWMW are high school students. Actual faculty staff can not be quested for or ordered as a custom. They are event only characters. It is possible to quest for a student teacher but they may be difficult to get since common ones are as rare as a rare aspect.

Because of the importance and rarity of teachers, they are REQUIRED to have a journal that tells us the teacher's age, family, and subject they teach. No exception.

General Details and Restrictions

Backgrounds
A teacher needs to have finished their schooling and have a clean record. No criminal background, no funny business.

Student teachers need to maintain good grades and have already completed some classes on teaching before being allowed to start interning at one of the High Schools.

Age
A magical teacher needs to be between the ages of 27-40. Teachers need to have had enough time to finish their own schooling. They also need to still be young since the magical thing takes a lot out of someone and is very taxing. Teaching assistants from the college need to be 18-25 years of age.

Children
Since teachers and student teachers are adults and could have families of their own this needs to be covered. Adult characters are allowed to have children that will be played as NPCs much like how everyone will play parents or siblings. Because the shop's setting is supposed to be timeless like a TV show, nobody actually ages. If this concept makes no sense to you, see The Simpsons as an example. The kids have been 2, 8, and 10 since 1989. If you decide to have a child NPC they will remain the same age forever.

[[Though this is in the Breedable/Changing Petshop forum, we do not do breeding. At all. We are a changing petshop. We don't support teen pregnancy or student-teacher affairs. Sorry. If you want your TEACHER to have a child, they must have already had said offspring, and have it listed in their journals.]]

A note on family NPCs: Please remember that the story is about your magical person. They are the star not their family. Family NPCs should be on the sidelines and not be the main focus of any plots (things like kidnappings are fine but we don't want any major story arcs focused on little Jimmy's birthday). Also for the sake of plotting if you make an adult character and want to give them a spouse do not make the spouse with the intent of them splitting up. We encourage drama between characters but drama should be between two main characters. If you must have an adult with relationship drama be responsible and make them single starting out. Save us all from a big headache.

Dress Code
Teachers need to set an example for their students. For clothes they need to wear either formal or fairly nice clothing (depending on the school) if they do not have a uniform. They must have natural hair colors but dye to some degree is ok. For example they can dye their hair to be a lighter or darker shade or cover up the grey but no adding lime green. Contacts, jewelry, and accessories, are allowed as long as they are subtle and will not be a distraction. To make sure they are not hypocrites and to be a good example for their students tattoos need be easily and subtly covered during school hours. This means things like neck or hand tattoos are out.

When a teacher is both off the clock and away from school grounds they can wear whatever they wish. (Act within reason. Amazingly outlandish behavior could cause a scandal).

Code of Conduct

Relationships
As responsible adults, teachers may not date minors and may not date students. The first one is illegal and the other is a conflict of interests or an unfair power dynamic (And also illegal still in most cases). If the school board or the PTA catch wind of any funny business at all the teacher will lose their job and get run out of town. Since student teachers are still students themselves they are not forbidden from dating students. However they still are not allowed to date minors since they are adults. Breaking our jailbait rules will result in rehoming and possible grey or blacklisting depending on the severity of the offense. Since it can be an unfair power dynamic and conflict of interests student teachers are strongly encouraged to not date students that they will also be teaching. If they are doing this they will need to remain professional and not display any open biases.
