Rainbow Sky trotted along a slightly worn path from the forest to the field she'd left Rave sleeping. It was still early morning and she thought she'd surprise the stallion with some apples, having managed to pick two up in her mouth to carry back since she'd already eaten a few at the grove. Grass was alright for eating, but apples were delicious... and she wasn't sure Rave had ever had any.
Rave was deeply sleeping; he was rolling a bit as he had a dream about his family. In a flash he woke up and was panting lightly. The male sat up and gazed up at the sky "Wonder how long I was out.." he said to himself.
The mare slowed her pace and walked up to the stallion. He looked a bit in distress. She hoped he was alright. Approaching him, she leaned her head down to put the apples by him. "I got breakfast. Are you okay?"
His ears twitched as the mare approached him. He glanced down at the apples she greeted him with; gave a nod. He looked up at her and gave her a light smile "Thanks; yeah I'm fine."
"You seemed worried when I first arrived," Sky told him, stepping back slightly to let him eat his apples. "There's a grove of them not far from here. I thought it would be a change from grass."
Rave just gave a slight shrug as if to pass off the question. He didn't really feel like talking about his dreams at the moment. Slowly he raised from the ground and stretched out a bit. He glanced at her "Alright, lets head there then."
Sky nodded, not pushing the issue of dreams. It wasn't important anyway. "Come along. They're just over here." She headed off to show him where the grove was."
Rave followed her and was rather silent. The male was thinking that finding his grandfather was almost impossible. However he didn't want to show her; his feelings.
"What's your grandfather like?" Sky asked innocently, making idle chatter.
"From what my father told me.." he thought back thinking about his grandfather.Shaking his head with a sligh laugh "He is a bit of player.." shifty gaze.
Sky laughed, looking at the stallion. "He sounds fun. I guess i can see why you want to meet him." She disappeared through the brush to the apple grove on the other side and began looking for the fruit on the ground to munch on.
The male half harpy headed over towards a tree looking at the rather ripe apples. He thought about trying to climb up for one and lifted his front body; grasping the tree with his talons. He moved up further trying to grasp an apple into his mouth.
"Hey, you can climb trees," the kirin chuckled around a bite of apple, watching her friend. "Or at least manage to get the higher up apples."
Once he got one from a tree he dropped down to the ground and started to munch on the apple.Rave glanced at her with his almost souless eyes. Raising his head a bit "Do you want me to get you one from the tree?" he asked her.
The mare stopped chewing for a moment, taken back by his question. No one usually offered to do nice things for her. She nodded, swallowing the apple. "Yes, please. If you don't mind."
He gave a nod and then went to try to climb the tree again. The half harpy reached up high to grab another apple with his mouth. Making sure it was the most freshest one and lowered back to the ground. He moved over towards her and gestured her to take it from him.
Sky blushed a little and leaned forward to take the apple in her own mouth. It was sweet and juicy, definitely better from the tree than the ground. "Thank'oo," she muffled around the apple.
Rave gave a slight nod and then was thinking about where they should head next. He remembered his father telling him that Swift had his own herd but wasn't sure of the location. He knew it was by a lake somewhere "Hmm..." he sighed.
Sky finished off her apple and came closer to the stallion. "So, where to now?" She smiled up at Rave.
"Know any big lakes?" he asked her, he felt like it wouldn't hurt in doing so.
The kirin thought about it. "There's one back close to where the herd i came from lived. I don't know of any in the area, though." She frowned a bit, hoping he wouldn't be disappointed.
"My grandfather has a herd by a lakeside.." he said to her. He was hoping that maybe if he finds that lake he could search around it and perhaps find the herd.
"Oh. Maybe we could find some others that know this area well and ask them" Sky suggested, tail flicking happily. "A place this big has to have a watering hole somewhere close by."
"Good idea." he said while looking around to head into a direction. He wasn't very familiar with any areas.
The kirin looked around as well. "I... don't see anyone around. Maybe we should pick a direction and head there. The greener the grass, the more water there is, perhaps?"
"Sounds like a good idea." he looked around and tried to take wiff of any fresh green grass up ahead. One area made his nose twitch and he started to head in that direction.
Sky trailed after, watching the stallion walk. Now that she had a moment to actually admire him, she couldn't help noticing he was rather handsome, despite his strange features. Really, in her mind, the feathers and strange feet just added to his good-looks. Blinking a little, she realized she was staring at him and blushed, moving to catch up to him.
The young half-harpy was strolling in a nice pace. His claws pressed deep within the ground and it helped support him. As he notice a pathway leading into a rather dark forest he stopped and glanced back at her "Hmm..hope we don't run into anything dangerous."
"If we do, they won't be dangerous for long between your claws and my horn and hooves," Sky chuckled courageously. She hoped, though, that there would be no danger, either, since she did not like conflict and certainly did not want her new friend to be hurt.
He gave a slight nod and then headed into the darken forest. He kept alert for he wasn't sure if he could fight off anything. For the half harpy has never fought anything off in his entire life. Though if in danger he would be sure to at least help Sky to escape.
Sky plodded alongside, looking at the trees. "It's nice here. Very peaceful." She kept an eye out for dangers as well, and also the lake. "I can't wait to meet your grandfather."
"Hmm curious how my grandfather will behave around you." he shakes his head thinking about what his father said in the past. Though he was sure Swift Wind was a good stallion regardless.
"Will he like me?" Sky asked, feeling a bit nervous that her companion's family might not appreciate her presence.
"He's likes anything that is female" he chuckled a bit while quietly walking along the path. As he talked to her; he didn't ignore the surroundings or let his guard down.
Sky thought this over. "Oh. Well, I'll just tell him I'm with you. He'll respect that right?" Sometimes little white lies didn't hurt, and hopefully Rave wouldn't mind her wanting to claim a relationship with him to his family.
He looked back at her and thought of a response. He gave a light nod "That should make him back off a bit." though he wondered exactly how Swift would react.
If only the fib were true, Sky thought. Rave was a handsome fellow, after all. "What about your parents? Will they be there, too?"
"No, they live back in the flock. I'll never see them." he told her simply as he went back to walking.
"I don't think I'll see my family anymore, either," the kirin answered. "They live so far away and there's still so much of the world to see."
Rave gave a light nod and kept walking. The half harpy yawned a bit and noticed it was growing dark. He thought perhaps they should find a place to rest because it wouldn't be so good traveling in the dark in this forest.
Sky paused, looking up at the stars beginning to appear overhead, then looked off at the sound of trickling water. "I think there's a creek over there. We could get water and find something to eat."
"Good idea." he told her and headed over towards the creek. He looked at her again "We shold think of a place to settle for the night." he didn't want to run into anything dangerous in the dark.
"Maybe the creek will have a clearing near it or soft moss to sleep on," Sky suggested wistfully, hurrying to catch up.
As the two reached the creek it seemed peaceful. He noticed the little fireflies blinking their tiny lights all around them. Giving a small sigh he went towards the creek "This place is lovely."
"It suits you," Sky sighed softly, looking at the stallion. "Almost as if it was made for you."
Rave blinks at her "You think so?" he laughed a bit while taking a drink from the creek.
The kirin chuckled, walking over to join him in taking a drink. "The fireflies match your eyes." She dipped her head to sip the cool water.
He looked at her with confusion "Really?" he was pretty lost on how they did. He then pulled away from the creek and went to lay himself down on the soft moss.
Sky let out a yawn, simply nodding in answer to his question, and went to lie down beside him. "I'm glad I decided to travel with you. Otherwise I'd miss this great view." She looked up at him and grinned before laying her head down to snooze.
He gave a small yawn and watched as she laid close by him. He gave a nod "It's very nice that you decided to travel with me." he told her while stretching his front legs out.
