I'm getting misguided and flung in directions on whether or not it is possible to get a Nissan Skyline GTR R34 in the U.S.A. and have it street legal. It's clear you can get it on the track (from what I've seen). Any know how to go about getting one if it is possible? (no links to stuff that don't answer the question)

Good ******** luck. NO is your answer although!!!!!

If you are in Cali. HELL NO. They are Crushing all R34's period!! If you were an owner of one, you would have received a letter stating basically, get rid of it or it will be crushed. Emissions is a big reason I hear. 100 octane fuel I believe may be one cause or it being illegal, not because it's packed with big power.

Also, the body shell. They have to be re manufactured to meet DOT standards.

The only way to get one into th states for street legal driving to to have it shipped in Pieces also. Not a fun job.

I would rather get an S14 or an S15 and put a Rb26 in it and call it a day. pretty close to the same platform I'd say.

There may be more reasons also. I've been in long group convo's as to why they are hard to get in the states, plus My friend was about to buy one but got chewed out on the phone trying to bring it to the states from Cananda.

Or get an R33

The answer to your question is no. Not unless you want to pay an arm and a leg for one. Not worth it in my opinion. And why does everyone want one? I think its played out. For the amount of money you spend buying a r34, you can build a civic/supra thats even faster at just a part of the cost. Just stick to something you can afford, not dreams

Yeah, I read about that stuff, there is a explanation someone gave in detail about how many people buy the car thinking the supplier would be able to make the car street legal. Then when it gets here they can't claim it, since it doesn't meet dot and since dot won't give out any information on the crash tests, no one is able (willing) to spend money on trying to figure it out.
There is the glass
emission
crash safety
and that's all I know

lol s back to square one, the s15. Is the performance on a circuit the same? I know the skyline is highly computerized and awd.

Yeah, I see that the car is really popular, but the reviews were so good that you kinda want to feel for yourself. (plus its sexy as hell)
Speaking of civics, I have one now! I'm not going to buy or thinking about buying, its in my drive way lol (took me a year since the last time I claimed I was getting a car)

You can make an s14 or s15 AWD as well with the same drive train from a Skyline. it's the matter of proper fab work and parts. Not too expensive either. I Hate the popularity of this car. I've seen them done out here so I wouldn't doubt they've been done else where.

hmm cheap car, engines not too expensive, this might be my first and cheapest "experiment" I have ever gotten my brother to do xd
I noticed on ebay the rb26dett is running for like 2-4k, Idk if i should trust it.

Trust it. Motor with problems that haven't been bored over can always be bored over if problems exist or what not.

It's a great Ideal Or you could go for a TT LS1 s14 build. Great unbeatable LS1 power with twin turbo in an S14

why not just turbo your civic.A good build/tune will go a long way. IMO i think your best back for your buck is the car you have now. With 4k you can have a 250+hp civic beating on swapped 240sx's and what not.

hmm, the ls1 does have better response and the parts should be a lot easier to achieve. I like this idea, I can now cancel the skyline r34 idea

Would you be able to compare the s chassis, the fd chassis, and the ap chassis for the ls1 swap?

I was going to get hyped over this civic but its dx in automatic and i wanted the eg in manual. I figured I'd buy the eg after we sell the dx.

I figured I'd swap that engine as well for the eg.

Plus, I've seen people out here put 4k into their Civic's and only to run 14's on the 1/4 when you can buy an LS1 for 2.5k and a s14 body for 4k and have a sick as ride with the 500 dollar conversion kit. I don't know specific's between chassis's research it. It has been done often. We have a guy working on that build right now with a single big turbo. looking to make it a semi pro drift car with a good 11 sec pass on the 1/4. not bad for under 10k

well those people who put 4k into there civics and only run 14s probably dont no what they are doing unless they are trying to run all motor. But even all motor with 4k should run mid 13's

hmm, i almost have enough to do this whole process, especially when the pardoner comes in. I like the idea, I just have one final question. Have you ever crossed paths with soemone who can actually make a body kit exactly how they imagine it in their head?

I always wanted to make something no has.
