Desher-bik had recently returned with his group that had left during the great hardships. He felt himself lucky to have met the Pharoah soon after returning. It was a nice tough and had made it felt like he had truly returned home. Thus it was that he wanted to pay his respects to the Gods for returning him, his niece, and the others safely back to their family. Desher knew that his brother and his mate had been fated to perish before they had even left.

So his paws had headed toward the temple. It had been so long since he had worshiped here, that the lion felt nervous. He did not want to tresspass where he should not; that he remembered. Desher hoped his prayers and offerings while they had been away were pleasing to the gods. Desher made sure he was beautifully groomed before coming. Now he stood at the entrance and stared.

Rolling her shoulders around a little, Wei was really feeling the heat today. Unlike most days, Wei had been going around the pride today, tending to various issues in her own life. She wasn't used to being out of the shade of the temple so much, and she was relieved when all of her errands were finished. Being here, within the temple, set her mind at ease.

Swaying to gently lean against a wall for a moment, Wei could almost feel the pulse of the gods through the temple walls. It was....magnificent. She felt one with the temple, and it was this reason that really drew Wei to this pride in the beginning.

Amongst the peaceful silence, Wei could faintly hear the sound off footsteps. She didn't doubt that it was probably someone coming to seek guidance or pay their respects. Normally, she didn't make much of an appearance when others came to the temple, but part of her wanted to see them this time, even if she just watched from afar.

Taking steps towards the entrance, her ears flicked up as she saw the sandy-colored male enter. She couldn't help but smile as she watched him for a few moments, not really thinking about what would happen if he saw her.

The red maned lion was enthralled. It was everything he remembered and more. This had to be one of the best places ever. Quietly he entered and settle down. For awhile it was him alone with his thoughts. Then Desher got that twitchy feeling between his shoulders that said someone was watching him.

Slowly the lion turned, trying to be as natural as possible about it. He didn't want to scare anyone who might be coming in to give offerings to the Gods too. When he saw the lioness standing there a slow smiled crossed his lips. "Well hello there. Are you here to worship too?" It would be nice to have the company of a lovely lioness.

Green eyes at ease, Wei held a small content smile on her face. It felt so nice, watching others as they came here. Caught up in her own peacefulness, she didn't even realize that the male had spotted her. Though, she hadn't really made any attempt to hide herself from his notice.

"Ah, well, not exactly. But at the same time, I guess so." Letting out a small laugh, the words had sort of come out on their own. She didn't really understand it, but her tongue just moved on its own. "What I mean is, my heart and mind are at one with this temple - they always are. So I don't necessarily need to come here and worship at one particular time." She smiled at him, figuring that her words might be a tad confusing, especially since she didn't know this male. "You see, I'm a priestess here." Nodding slowly, she hadn't really said the words out loud until this point. It felt kind of nice, hearing them, though.

"Are you troubled, sir? Or have you just come to pay your respects?" Taking a few steps closer, she thought she should try and help him in any way she could, since, that was, after all, part of her duties here. Not that she minded in the least.

He twitched his ears at her confusing words. She was and wasn't. That was a female for you. Take a simple answer and make it as confusing as possible. Desher bowed his head. "One does not have to be at the temple to worship. This I know from experience. It is good that you have found it though you live here." Ah, a priestess. That explained a lot.

The lion gave a chuckle. "Perhaps some of the first and a lot of the last. My name is Desker-bik, Priestess. It has been far too long since I have placed my paws within the temple for worship. I fear to upset the gods." A priestess would certainly be able to point him toward the right direction.

"Ah, yes. It was probably the one thing that really drew me to this place." Looking up the walls, Wei remembered her original pride - she had loved it, along with all of its old traditions - but it had slowly begun to die out, and she didn't want to bring a family into a dying world. The way that the gods seemed to pulsate throughout this pride sucked in her wandering heart, and she'd been here ever since.

"It's nice to meet you. My name is Wei." Smiling and dipping her head slightly to him, she tried to take in his words. "I think I see what you mean; for many, a regular visit to the temple seems to be a very much needed part of their schedules. At least, that is, to keep their minds at ease." Her eyes drifted off for a moment, thinking of how some would even just go to the temple without any feeling at all, thinking it would still appease the gods. "However, it's still my firm belief that one doesn't need to be present at a temple to think of and worship the gods. I mean, just think of all of those who aren't in prides at all, and don't even have temples." Grinning, her eyes seemed to shimmer a little. She didn't mean to say so much, but it had really become a passion of hers.

"Especially," She looked over at the male. "if fate requires your presence elsewhere. Have you been on a journey, Desher-bik?"

He smiled as she talked about the pride. It pleased him to have a priestess that was so devoted. The pride would certainly thrive under her tutualage.

"The pleasure is mine Priestess. Clearly I was in need of some guidance." He gave a soft chuckle. "Perhaps it is a sense of familiarity and belonging that draws one back over and over." Desher swished his tail across the floor. There just seemed something right about paying respect to the gods in their own home. "I believe you're right Priestess Wei. It is a great relief to me."

"Yes," his voice was soft. His head lowered his head in regret. "The pride was dying. To save what could be, the Phaoroh sent a small group of us off."

"Oh? If it was a request from the Pharaoh, then I'm sure that the gods stayed by your side along your journey." Smiling at him, she wondered what it was like on his journey, as he didn't seem too happy talking about it.

"Even in our most dire times, the gods give us what we need most - even if it may seem like a cruel punishment." Her smile fading slightly, she knew that sometimes things got hard; but even so, she still believed that it all held a purpose in one's life.

"Do you think you accomplished anything on your journey?" Wei found herself rather curious about his journey, since it'd been so long since she'd left these lands.

Desher felt relief. She had a good point. Still it brought uneasy questions in its place. If the gods had been watching, when why had that disaster happen. For a moment, he was lost in the memory. It had been a terrible time for him and his niece. Together they had somehow managed to work through it.

He turned sad eyes upon the priestess. Yes he fought with his brother, but not his brother's mate. Did he really need the loss of his brother? Why had she had to die too? These were questions he was afraid to ask her.

"I..... do not know. We survived at least." They certainly hadn't found a new, safe place to live. That in turn brought them back to their rightful home.

"Then there must be a greater purpose for you." Smiling gently at him, she took in his words, along with his expressions. It seemed like something was greatly tearing at his heart - though, she found that most of those who directly sought out the temple held some sort of burden within them.

"Though the answers don't seem clear now, in time things will sort themselves out. Whether those answers come screaming at you, or whether your heart finally feels at peace with what has happened in the past, I cannot tell you. Sometimes we think answers never come to us, but our hearts learn to look past that. I believe that that is a sort of answer in itself." Glancing down for a moment, Wei knew well that sometimes there were just things in life that can't be explained. Why her pride died out, for starters. She knew that there probably wasn't one exact answer, and she also knew that she probably didn't want to hear it if there was one. But now the guilt of leaving doesn't sway her heart, and that's what mainly gives her comfort.

"The Gods work in strange ways - as cliche as it may sound. But at the end of the day, what's really important to you? Living and cherishing the ones you love and those around you, or keeping your head turned to constantly look at the past? You'll end up not being able to see what's right in front of you if you do that."

He took heart. He had been there to take in his niece after all. They still had each other. Desher gave her a purr to show his gratitude. He would look on the brighter side of things. Perhaps his answer would finally come, but until then he could wait.

"Yes they do priestess." He gave a smile and stood. "Thank you for your time. I think it is high time I went and found my niece and see what she thinks of it here." The lion swept Wei a deep bow of respect then took his leave.

Giving the male a nod, Wei smiled. It was nice knowing that her words could have set someone on the right path again.

"Ah, thank you for coming here. Not everyone has the strength or courage to face the gods and ask for their guidance." Grinning at him, her tail gently swayed back and forth on the ground behind her. She was happy that she was finally able to give advice to someone, especially advice that came from her heart. It was a great feeling, and a great reminder of why she became a priestess to begin with.

"I bid you farewell. I hope your niece enjoys this place as much as I do." With those final words, she turned, returning to the deeper part of the temple.
