Character Name: Melbourne Type: Pokémon Species: Raichu Region: N/A Trainer Type: N/A Gender: Male Height: 6'1 Age: 22 Hair Color: up to the artist Eye Color: up to the artist Skin Color: probably the lighter of raichus colors but also up to the artist Other: expresses emotions with his tail movements. For example when he is agitated his tail twitches nonstop. When he is nervous or scared it falls limp and looks like it’s made of rope, when he is angry is slashes the air behind him. Nature: Gentle Ability: Lightning rod Skill Set: Thunderbolt, Thunder wave, quick attack, Light screen Personality: ( 2 Positive, 2 negative and 1 neutral attribute )
Loyal: He is utterly loyal to anyone who gains his trust or friendship. He will do his best to never betray you and will go out of his way to aid someone who has earned this from him. He will drop whatever he is doing in order to aid a friend whatever the time. He does however expect the same from those he is loyal to and even if you give him a little less he is ok but if he is betrayed in a manner which he cannot forgive (generally this means that bodily harm is involved) there is no turning back and you will never have his trust again.
Intelligent: He is pretty smart when it comes to physics due to his past and has a smattering of education in other things due to his trainers interests and family. He has a naturally sharp mind so he fits into the "sometimes mumbles to himself about stuff" box of smart people. This makes him full of interesting facts and tidbits that he tells anyone who will listen. He loves to have people listen to him and so if he finds out a friend of his is going to be on a game show or something of the sort he will train you in all the random facts he knows. Because he is naturally gifted in physics if there is anything that he can do to help in project or even building a ramp for a kid to ride their bike over he is there and making sure that all the calculations are exact for the best result. He is book smart only and as such possesses a fair amount of common sense but little to no street smarts.
Egotist: He is generally quiet and gives few details about himself to those he doesn’t know. This makes him come off as cold during first impressions. This is especially obvious if for some reason he thinks he is smarter than you since he absolutely HATES explaining things in detail. His ego makes him like to be the one who knows everything and this is also why he loves to spout random facts about everything, to show people that HE is the knowledgeable one and that no one is smarter than he is. He hates to explain things in detail because he tends to forget (or ignore) the fact that not all people can read a tech manual and totally understand what it says. He assumes that if everyone put in the effort they could be like him and so he assumes if he needs to explain it in detail it is because you are too lazy to look it up yourself.
Fragile: He is easily broken, there are few things that he really cares about but do anything to one of them and he is a shattered soul. This really is only visible to the onlooker if he is around someone he really cares about. This is because the things he loves he generally has under some sort of lock and key to keep them safe. He may be overprotective such as glaring at people looking at the person too long and he will be very mannerly, opening doors, pulling out chairs, stuff like that. When something does get to him he tends to refuse to eat, cry all day, and do the general self-destructive behavior of depression and hopelessness. Things that might get him like this are along the lines of one of his best friends betraying him in some way, it does not need to be in an unforgivable way but if he interprets your actions as a betrayal you won’t know until you see him all emaciated and crying in a corner. He goes into such extremes because he tends to read too far into a situation for example if you promised to meet him for lunch and stood him up because your phone broke and your car broke he wouldn’t know and assume that you stood him up because you hate him and you wanted to humiliate him publicly. He just reads way too far into situations for his own good since he is almost ALWAYS wrong as to why the situation occurred. Takes a while to get him out of these stages but generally involves blueberries. He absolutely loves all berries and sunflowers and generally these things he tends to not be able to resist so you can ease him into eating with that. With enough love and care from people he knows cares about him he eventually pulls himself together, usually accomplished by making him feel like you need him which makes him force himself out of his state to be there for you. It’s a tricky thing to do but if done successfully works every time.
Clean: He tends to keep himself immaculately clean. He dislikes being dirty and will do what he can to avoid it but he can deal with it when it is a necessary evil. This makes him quite annoying because he tends to be like a mother in the fact that he will notice if your clothes are dirty, if your hair is greasy, if you have a stain, if your shoes are old. He notices everything and will comment on how to fix it, try to fix it himself, or keep staring at it and making coughing noises to alert you to the fact. As for himself if he is dirty in such a way that he cannot be clean for a while he becomes EXTREMELY self-conscious he will be constantly looking over his shoulder hiding behind people or decorations and overall be embarrassed by his state of dress.
Strengths: agile, smart, a good worker, Protects those he loves with everything Weaknesses: refuses to see the bad side of those he is loyal to, easily taken advantage of, workaholic, cocky about his smarts
History: Mel (as he is affectionately called) was born and raised as a companion Pokémon to the daughter of two research professors. Mel’s owner was named Alice and she loved him more than anything. They grew up together under the rigors of her parents expectations, which included Mel’s quick evolutions to a raichu so that he was a respectable Pokémon. It was strange and confusing for him to evolve so fast at such a young age but Alice helped him through it. The professorial parents expected nothing less for their daughter than what they had done and so pushed her without mercy in school and in her endeavors. In fact Mel was the only Pokémon she ever owned because she had no time outside of studies for more than him. She was a physics genius and often used Mel in her experiments and studies. This suited him just fine and together they were a great team. Alice had no time for a boyfriend or even regular friends and so would unleash all of her tenderness upon the raichu who always gave her just as much tenderness. He knew that he was all she had and so he always was there to hug her when she was sad, bring her a sweet bread when she was stressed and be there to open the windows when she slept late on an important day. He suspected that she didn’t have any friends besides him and so he always did his best to be her perfect companion so that she didn’t miss out on anything in life.
This went on for years until one proposal came that baffled Alice and Mel. It was a machine that they had to design to make power plants more efficient and Alice just could not understand it. They worked on it obsessively and because Mel also became obsessed with the problem he didn’t notice Alice’s condition until it was too late. Alice had been spending all of her time in the lab, not sleeping, not eating, not even seeing the sun and it was getting to her. This was not good when dealing with high voltage machines and one day it happened. The stress got to her and her hand slipped on the wiring. Mel threw himself on Alice and tried to pull her from the machine but it was too late. The voltage was even enough to knock him off of her and unconscious. Alice was dead and Mel blamed himself. He had failed in his duty as her perfect companion, he hadn’t noticed her real needs of fresh air and food, and because of his oversight and what he took as selfishness his trainer and best friend was now dead. The parents grieved for their daughter but they had work to do and got over it fairly quickly. They cleared out everything of their daughters including Mel who was taken out to the forest and released.
Mel wandered around the forest not knowing how to be a wild raichu, he was hungry, tired, and broken beyond all measure. He lay in a tree hollow and waited for death to reunite him with Alice. But instead of death he had a dream. He met a strange pink human.....Pokémon? It called to him but he didn’t respond
"Melbourne, come, let me help you."
"I'm not going anywhere"
"Why not?" followed by a puff of pink smoke which enveloped him
"I'm waiting"
"For who"
"Alice"
Mel could feel the gaze on his back, he shrugged it off. Death surely would come for him soon, he could feel his body weakening every day.
"I know where you can find her"
Mel’s ears pricked up "Don’t you lie to me strange man, or I will kill you." His tail whipped behind him as he stood up
"Come with me, and you will dream of her every night...." More pink smoke
Mel coughed and he felt tears in his eyes, he couldn’t tell if it was from the smoke or from what he wanted. It was as close as he could get, he knew it and he took it. "ok what do you want?" He asked unkindly.
"Just dream" said the strange pink stuff and there it was more smoke and....Alice. Mel dreamed of her. He relived their memories, but in the dream he wasn’t a mere Pokémon, there was a change. he was tall, taller than she was and he had arms to hold her and open doors for her and really be the kind of friend she had always deserved. Someone she could have a real conversation with, he could tell her his thoughts, brainstorm together, tell jokes, all the things he knew she had missed because of her parents. He loved it and when he woke he found that the changes were not imagined. He was human? Well not totally but close enough. It came as a shock, was the dream real? Was Alice still out there?! He had to find her, he had to finish their project and she would come, he knew it.

To start off 'expresses emotioins with his tail movements' do you mean his emotions? How so? Can you give examples? I assume this is the kind of thing that is only added to give RP flourish.
As far as personality is concerned, Can you perhaps expand on to how each one comes into play on a daily level and how they would effect his day to day interactions with others.
Loyal: this is a very generic trait many people use so I tend to ask what about this trait is unique to your character. You also so never betray but...what or when would he betray? To use an absolute like never would make him as stubborn or prideful, perhaps even ignorant.
Intelligent: This is just confusing. So he is book smart. But this tells me nothing on how it would play into his interactions with other players. Being intelligent comes in a variety of ways. Street smart, book smart, logical, factual, ethical. If he is smart, how will it play into daily life?
Withdrawn: Is he antisocial, why does he hate to explain things? Does he have an ego? if so, you should mention this, since that would come into play.
Fragile: how does this come into play on a daily basis, give examples. What pulls him out, why does he go into such extremes? Expand on this a bit.
Clean: Again, how does this effect his daily life and his interaction with other players, hiw views, his personality if, whens and whys.
History: Uh.....what kind of love we talking here? You seem to give the pokemon Mel more human qualities then really applicable. Pokemon are pets, and don't have the same level of comprehension as humans, even so, a pokemon wouldn't have a romantic interest in a human. The shop also doesn't allow pokemon and trainer..relationships of that sort.

I haven't actually focused on your history at the moment as I wanted to trawl through your personality and see if I could settle some of the concerns I have. Once you're able to clarify those issues I'll shuffle on to the history for you! I apologise for how long this is, my character analyses are always quite lengthy - hopefully it clarifies a few things for you!
Withdrawn - Point One: This is especially obvious if for some reason he thinks he is smarter than you since he absolutely HATES explaining things in detail.
This actually makes no sense if you look at it beside the description you've provided for his level of intelligence. If he's an individual who will state random facts and tidibits of information to 'anyone who will listen', then it makes very little sense for him to hate explaining things in detail. People who are 'know it alls', as he appears to come across, are well known for explaining things in detail - if only to bolster their own sense of being more intelligent.
In addition, you indicate that if he knew you were going on a game show he would teach you how to win. Again this is completely contradictory of what you have indicated in the "Intelligent" quirk.
You should also keep in mind that this has no relevance to the definition of "withdrawn".
Withdrawn - Point Two: His ego makes him like to be the one who knows everything and this is also why he loves to spout random facts about everything, to show people that HE is the knowledgeable one and that no one is smarter than he is.
Again this isn't "withdrawn", this is literally an egoist. He's egotistical, full of conceit and generally boastful. Truth be told, this is actually the opposite of withdrawn - withdrawn people don't like to communicate with others very much at all, he does communicate, and quite vocally in some reaspects as well.
Withdrawn - Conclusion: He's secretive, not withdrawn. If you want to have him as an egotistical and conceited Raichu then you can keep a lot of what is already written, but if you want to keep him as more shy/timid, then you will have to consider rewriting a lot of what has been highlighted above. This is to avoid turning him into a living oxymoron! If you intend to keep him as an egoist, then I would encourage you to pull out the various sections that have been highlighted and put them in their own section under a title such as "Prideful" as that would be a more appropriate place for them in the long term.
Fragile: Needs to be split in two - he's emotionally fragile, that much you have made clear, but his "Over protective" nature is also a separate point of its own that is complimentary to this trait. I would advise you to consider splitting this paragraph into two in order to encompass this!
Oddly enough, a boastful and egotistical person can be emotionally fragile so I would accept this trait. They walk along a very delicate line sometimes and if that bubble around them is burst, the revelations can shatter them. However, this trait can also fit if you want him to be a more withdrawn/shy individual, so depending on the line you wish to pursue, it settles in quite nicely.
Clean: I know you indicate that he "comes across as annoying" but this is actually a fantastically complimentary trait to his egotism and conceit! Additionally, it also matches quite well if you elected to make him withdrawn/shy. All in all this adds a little bit more depth to him and allows him to have a more interesting quirk than just being a know-it-all. Truth be told, we could actually do with some clean-freaks, as there are quite a few messy pups out there already!
Conclusion: At present he comes across as a more negative/neutral personality which is actually a good thing. If your intention is to make him deliberately annoying and exasperating through his "know it all" and "clean" nature then this balance is actually perfect. However, if this wasn't your intention then careful reconsideration of certain aspects of his personality (highlighted above) might help you to balance him out into a more purely neutral, or neutral/positive individual depending on your preferences.
All in all, he has a good start to him, he just needs tweaked so that he doesn't contradict himself.

ok I did change withdrawn into egotist because you were right the description didnt match the title but the decription was what I wanted. I did want him to be an exasperating and hard to deal with person so I'm really glad that it came through in the personalities. Thank you so much for the comments.

*Thumbs up* No problems, changing it up helped a bit to make his concept flow much more smoothly. Only thing I would ask you to do is run this through a spell check. There are quite a few typos in there that are unnecessary. Methinks after those are fixed it should read much better!
