Zii was desperate to find water. Her family, those she loved were suffering. She herself was suffering. She had a cough that wasn't leaving her. It was the air. It was sucking the life out of everyone. Stress was running high. Anger was flaring so much that Zii had been avoiding everyone the best she could. It wasn't worth the dust being kicked up in fury. So she had gone out during the night; to search.
She was far from a water seeker. She was a guard. She knew the lands pretty well, and knew a few places that not many went to these days. She went to where the sand turned to stone is some places. She checked under rocks. She had dust clogging her nostrils for a while, she had to stop every once and a while to rub her face to clear it away. She sat and coughed for a while, her yellow eyes half lidded. It was so hot. Even at night she was feeling the strain. She hadn't drank any water in so long, she had barely eaten. She felt the pressure of the pride. She wasn't responsible for finding water, but she felt as though it was.
She picked up her pace, her yellow eyes glazing over as another coughing fit took her and she had to sit and let it pass. She should have brought her snake familiar with her. At least smeagol could have at least kept her head straight. "Oh smeagol... Why did I leave you behind." She spoke aloud, her ears flat against her head. "Your or Ute or Kich. Azar even." She murmured, looking at the ground before her.
Ziiiii She lifted her head quickly and stared wide eyed into the distance. What was that? She swiveled her ears around; trying to hear what ever just flashed in her mind. Ziiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii It blew towards her in the wind. She couldn't recognize the voice. Or could she? "Hello!" She called, quickening her pace. She lifted her nose and scented the air. Zii'moto. My love! She began to look around furiously. Thats when she spotted the image... the mirage. "My love is Kich. Who are you!" She began to run at the object, her anger growing.
Zii Came the voice. She began to get furious. Was it Rowtag? How dare he return to these lands! She let loose a furious roar, only to find something unusual happening with her front legs. It took her a moment before she realized what was happening. Her front feet weren't touching ground anymore. Suddenly, she was toppling over an edge, her legs scrambling. A ravine. She was falling into a ravine. She let loose a cry of fright, as her body began to collide with the sides of the stone walls. Then, she felt the bottom meet with her body, crushing her. She lay on the ground, her paws twitching and her whiskers doing the same. With dilated pupils, she closed them; her breathing becoming light and distanced. Her white form became covered in a light dust of the sand and stone that followed after her fall.
Fool. She was a fool.
