The legendary Shinja Woods are hard to find by anyone who doesn't
know the way there. Only by leaving the main continent of the hidden
villages, traveling over an ocean, and through secret network of mountain
trails can one reach the legendary Shinja woods, home to many different
kinds of dangerous, deadly creatures. They sting, claw, and bite! But
some can speak, and many live in ninja villages like our own. Can you
make it to the woods and find out if any animal will have you?
The emergent layer is the very top of the Shinja woods. Here, only the
tallest trees grow past the top. Basically, it looks like a grassy and hilly
plain, and feels like it too. It's easy to forget you're on top of a forest!
Here, you will find the bird creatures that populate the land of beasts. They
range in size from normal birds to astonishing, giant dragon sized beasts!
These summons are also good for mounts when you want a sky to fly
through. Like snakes, you can summon flocks of many birds and count it
as one summon. All kinds of birds live here, of all shapes, sizes, and
elements.

"Think fast!" [Enter from Academy Training Grounds]
Kaida watched as Hikaru summoned his demon fox. It seemed very elegant, until it opened its mouth. The Brooklyn accent was a bit surprising coming out of the slim muzzle. Kaida couldn't help it, she laughed. "No offence taken, Aenean. And, yes. I am very probably brain-dead." She quiet liked the fox. He had a frankness that was refreshing in the ninja world of formality. Continuing, Hikaru took the lead into the dense forest, and she followed, leaping from tree branch to tree branch behind him. They ascended, gaining altitude until they broke into the upper canopy. The thickly woven leaves and branches nearly created a solid surface, but one had to watch for the gaps hidden under loose leaves. Kaida wondered if they were to just wait for a bird to come to them, or if they were to seek one out for themselves. Either way, Kaida was ready to start.

╚═════════════════╝ Hikaru landed beside her expertly, the branch shifting to match his weight.
"Glad to hear, it, lady," the blue fox said cheekily as he clambered down from his perch on Hikaru's head, "But I'm sure you're not as dumb as that. After all, you're a ninja, aren'tcha?"
Hikaru sighed at his summon's poor manners and said, "Kaida, to get the birds' attention, you can use the Summoning Jutsu without a contract. Normally, when you use it without a contract, it would teleport you to the animal that you have a natural affinity with. Since you answered my question with birds, now your affinity is birds as well, and when you use it, since you're already in the Land of the Birds, it will draw their attention, and the one you have the strongest affinity with will come to challenge you. Be sure to choose the specific bird you want to bond with carefully, because contracts cannot be broken, even in death,"
He suddenly snorted disdainfully and grumbled, "Look at me. I'm stuck with this nutty little canine,"
Aenean whined softly and nuzzled his partner's cheek, murmuring, "Hey, boss, don't be like that. You know I owe you everything!"
Hikaru laughed and squeezed the little fox to him, saying, "Aenean, I was kidding. You know I love you best!" He smiled at his fox for a moment before becoming serious.
"But we're not here to chitterchatter. We're here to back up Kaida, so it's time to get serious. I want you to take Scythe Form for now and then Fluid Shield form when the battle starts, because I'll be practicing a new taijutsu and I don't want to be injured,"
"Roger that, boss!" the kitsune said, snapping a strange-looking salute. All of a sudden, his form became a shiny, solid blue color, and he melted into a stream of liquid metal. It wound sinuously around Hikaru's arm, shot in front of his hand, spun rapidly in the air until its flipping form became a long, deadly blue scythe, easily a Hikaru-and-a-half long. He spun it expertly before resting the shaft on his shoulder.
Hikaru sighed and said, "Whenever you're ready, Kaida,"
//OoC: Okay, K-chan! You can pick whatever bird you want to tame, or even a flock of small birds as one summon. Just remember that it's a C-Rank Summon, equivalent to a Genin, so it will be about the size of a raptor, or maybe a little smaller. It will grow as it ranks up. It can also be ANY bird, even fictional ones, so you can have a phoenix if you'd like. =3 どのように殺人者のためふさわしい

"Think fast!" Kaida nodded. Secretly, she was hoping for some huge hawk. Maybe big enough to ride on? That would be helpful. She formed the hand seals: boar, dog, bird, monkey, and ram. Then, she bit her thumb and slammed her hand into a branch. Ink-like lines spread from the point of impact, forming the summoning jutsu. Nothing happened. Well, it was supposed to attract the attention of her affinity bird, wasn't it? Where was the colossal hawk she wanted?
"What?" came a sarcastic voice to her right. "You were expecting some sort of eagle, right? Sucks to be you."
Kaida turned to stare at the tiny bird. It was an brownish owl, no bigger than her hand. Its underbelly was a speckled white, and its facial disk was a dusty brown, fading to white around its yellow eyes.
"I have an affinity with the smallest pygmy owl in the forest. Great. Hey, Hikaru? Let's head to the Packlands." Kaida wiped her thumb on a sleeve.
"Pygmy?!" came the shrill reply. "Miss, I am an Acadian Owl, and you will refer to me as such." The owl sniffed disdainfully. "Size is not the matter when battling. It is the mind. Although, I can tell you are lacking in both."
"Excuse me?! You're one to talk, shrip! Man up and make a contract, or push off!" Kaida was ticked. Her intelligence had been insulted on many occasions, and did not bother her. Her stature, however, was a touchy point.
"Fine!" Instead of flying away, the owl summoned a thinly rolled scroll in its talons. "Sign here, shorty."
Kaida bit her thumb again, wincing at reopening the wound, and defiantly wrote the strokes of her name. If the minuscule owl could sign a contract, so could she. Once signed, the contract went up in a puff of smoke. It was done. The newly bonded glared at each other.
"You know," commented the acadian, "I'm not that small for my species. You, on the other hand, can't say the same."
"Shut your beak, owl."
"Shut your mouth, human."
"It's Kaida."
"Adraen."

╚═════════════════╝ Hikaru blinked a couple of times. Well, that was certainly an unorthodox way of making a contract. The owl and the girl were very similar, but he wasn't going to be the one to tell them that.
"Um, so, do you guys wanna spar now? I was planning on working on my own jutsu when you two challenged each other, but I, ah, didn't want to interrupt the bonding process," he asked curiously, still a little unsure of the other pair's bond.

OOC// Sorry, I'm confused. gonk I thought that Summon Jutsu was part of my starting stuff. You know how you wrote that I had 8 jutsus left at the bottom of my jutsu list?
And, if you have a ticket, you still have to train with word count, right? //
//Each summon counts as one jutsu. You oughta work out your Jutsu List soon. You have to have a ticket to learn at all, so yes, you must train with word count for all jutsu, unless otherwise noted.

ooc// Life has suddenly gotten very busy for me. I apologize for the lack of posting, but I still won't be able to post. I'll write an explanation to pull Kaida out of the story line without killing her. Maybe next year I'll drop her back in if she can help the plot.
Is there any formal way to pull a character out? Like say, put the profile in storage or something? Also, how should I notify others on the team? //
