PokéRinger

Flying pokémon compete to put a ring on a goal!

Who can compete:

Only certain flying-type pokémon can compete. A list of which pokémon can compete and which Category they fall under can be found at the end of this post. Some flying-types are prohibited, either because they cannot actually fly (e.g. Doduo) or do not have enough flying-type moves (e.g. Ledyba) in order to take part.

The rules:

Only physical and special flying-Type moves may be used during competition. This means no roost, defog, featherdance, mirror move or tailwind.

You may not use the same move twice in a row.

You cannot change your pokémon between rounds.

All speed stats should be 100 for Category 1, 130 for Category 2 or 150 for Category 3.

How it works:

In the roleplay, you will direct your flying pokémon from a hot air balloon, as it races for a plastic ring which is released from another balloon, high in the air. The aim of the game is for the pokémon to compete for the ring and place it onto one of the prongs of a tree-like, metal stand – 'the goal' – in the centre of the arena.

Each round is a best of three match, so whichever pokémon gets to two goals first will be the winner. There will be eight challengers at each PokéRinger competition, who will compete one-on-one in knock-out stages, through the first round, the semi finals and the final.

How to enter:

PokéRinger competitions are held in Viridian City, Cerulean City, Vermilion City, Fuchsia City and on Cinnabar Island. You can enter a PokéRinger competition the same way you would a Pokémon Contest—turn up at the arena and register to compete.

The first thing you should do when entering a PokéRinger contest is decide which pokémon you are going to enter with. Different pokémon compete in different categories, so you should check which category you will be entering using the lists below.

It is very important that you make sure that your pokémon's speed stat is 100 for Category 1, 130 for Category 2 or 150 Category 3.

In order to ensure that your pokémon's speed stat is correct, you may have to decrease the speed DVs (on the advanced tab of the teambuilder) and/or change your pokémon's nature.

Categories have been decided and speed stat limitations put in place to ensure that the battles are fun and fair. If your pokémon does not have the correct speed stat you may be disqualified from competition.

Once your pokémon is set up correctly, make up your team with three identical copies of it. For example, if Mezame entered a PokéRinger contest with her Starly, she would be in Category 1. Starly's speed stat must therefore be set to 100. Mezame's team going into battle would be Starly, Starly, Starly.

The pokémon must be identical in every way—the same attributes, moves, items and all.

In battle you will face an opponent who also has three identical pokémon.

Each time you KO one of your opponent's pokémon it will count as a goal to you, and visa-versa.

As previously stated, the first trainer to score two goals wins the match and proceeds to the next round. The winner of the final round will receive a PokéRinger Ring, as well as an evolution token, and will be permitted to raise the levels of all their pokémon by one. Once you've won five PokéRinger Rings you can enter the PokéRinger Championships, which take place at the Indigo Plateau.

Once you have a city's ring, you cannot enter any more PokéRinger competitions at that arena.

If you should lose, you must travel to a different PokéRinger arena. You cannot enter the same city's competition twice consecutively. That means if you lose in Viridian City, you have to travel somewhere else. If you then enter a contest in Fuchsia City, you're free to go back to Viridian City--whether you won or lost in Fuchsia.

If you should be unlucky enough to lose five PokéRinger competitions in a row you will receive an evolution token for all your hard work.

Prohibited Moves:

Roost, Defog, Featherdance, Mirror Move, Tailwind and all non-flying moves.

Prohibited Pokémon:

Doduo, Dodrio, Scyther, Gyarados, Ledyba, Ledian, Hoppip, Skiploom, Jumpluff, Gligar, Gliscor, Mantine, Ninjask, Salamence, Combee, Drifloon, Emolga

Pokémon Sumo

Pokémon try to push each other out of the ring!

Who can compete:

Only pokémon that weigh over 100lbs, stand on two legs and have at least two arms can compete. A list of which pokémon can compete and which Category they fall under can be found at the end of this post. Some pokémon are prohibited because they do not know enough fighting-type moves in order to take part.

The rules:

Only physical fighting-type moves may be used during competition. This means no aura sphere, final gambit, focus blast, secret sword, vacuum wave, bulk up, detect or quick guard.

You may not use the same move twice in a row.

You cannot change your pokémon between rounds.

All speed stats should be 90 for Category 1, 120 for Category 2 or 140 for Category 3.

How it works:

In the roleplay, the battle takes place much like any other pokémon battle, except rather than battling to knock out your opponent, you are battling to knock them out of the sumo ring.

In each round the first pokémon to push their opponent out of the ring will be the winner. There will be eight challengers at each Pokémon Sumo Conference, who will compete one-on-one in knock-out stages, through the first round, the semi finals and the final.

How to enter:

Pokémon sumo conferences are held in Viridian City, Pewter City, Saffron City, Lavender Town and Fuchsia City. You can enter a Pokémon Sumo Conference the same way you would a Pokémon Contest—turn up at the arena and register to compete.

The first thing you should do when entering a Pokémon Sumo Conference is decide which pokémon you are going to enter with. Different pokémon compete in different categories, so you should check which category you will be entering using the lists below.

It is very important that you make sure that your pokémon's speed stat is 90 for Category 1, 120 for Category 2 or 140 Category 3.

As previously stated, the first trainer push their opponent out of the ring wins the match and proceeds to the next round. The winner of the final round will receive a Pokémon Sumo Belt, as well as an evolution token, and will be permitted to raise the levels of all of their pokémon by one. Once you've won at five Pokémon Sumo Conferences you can enter the Pokémon Sumo Tournament, which takes place at the Indigo Plateau.

Once you have a city's belt, you cannot enter any more Pokémon Sumo Conferences at that dojo.

If you should lose, you must travel to a different Pokémon Sumo Dojo. You cannot enter the same city's conference twice consecutively. That means if you lose in Viridian City, you have to travel somewhere else. If you then enter a conference in Fuchsia City, you're free to go back to Viridian City--whether you won or lost in Fuchsia.

If you should be unlucky enough to lose at five Pokémon Sumo Conferences in a row you will receive an evolution token for all your hard work.

Aura sphere, final gambit, focus blast, secret sword, vacuum wave, bulk up, detect and quick guard.
