The mare gave a whinny as she feigned a lunge at a tree. Sweat was glistening off of her pelt, parts of her mane started sticking to her face and neck. Her nostrils flared as she would wheel around striking or lunging at the trees around her. One would think her to be mad or frightful, but in essence Kainda was training. She didn't believe in weakness nor letting anything get to her. The mare wanted to prove her strength and to do that, she had to constantly keep training and bettering herself. She had spent most of the day here in her little tree circle somewhere in the woods. Kainda shook her neck as she stopped to rest, her scent strong by this point. Anyone could definitely sniff her out to find her. Sweat beaded on her body, hair, and brow. Sneezing, she stopped for the day to go and get some water and possibly bathe in a river nearby.

Dark Tide had heard the resounding thumping and went to investigate.
"Them trees talking back again huh?" he asked her in a mellow voice. He didn't want to get attacked without warning like the trees, he bruised more easily and she was landing heavy hits on the ancient giants of the forest.
"Pardon me ma'am but do you need a sparring partner? I need some practice if I am ever to defend my herd properly and you look like you could whip me into shape." he asked. He wasn't a violent stallion but he needed to learn at some point and this was as good a chance as any. If she didn't turn him into pulp first and ask questions later that is.

Kainda's eyes widened as she look over her shoulder from where the voice called to her. Was he mocking her? A snort made its way from her nostrils as she turned to face him. "Who the eff are you?" She asked eyeing him warily. At his question, she stood a little straighter shaking her head as to clear her mane from her face. "Why as a matter of fact I do. She grinned wickedly and lunged forward without any warning. The orange female landed close to the black and white male with her horn pointed dangerously at his face. "Lesson one, never let your guard down." Kainda nickered darkly, a sneer upon her face. "Come. Let's see what you got." The mare backed away from him then keeping her eyes centered upon his frame.

Dark Tide eyed the horn but didn't flinch. "My name is Dark Tide." He had only seen one other Azrein with a horn and they quite fascinated him. But as the mare had just told him not to be distracted he concentrated on her. He feined a dodge to her front and instead came around at her behind. Teeth bared to try graze her rump. he had seen her fighting and knew he may land a hit on her but that she would easily survive anything he could dole out at the moment.
She was a lovely mare, exotic even, with good proportions and lithe muscles. She was the fist he had seen fight and it fascinated him. Thus he tried to approach her by playing her game which happened to be battle. He had to learn to fight anyway before his younger brother came from the north and could defend the herd. Perhaps she could teach him how to kick Ion's butt next time they had a wrestling match.

Kainda smirked. He was catching on quickly. His name sounded sexy in a way. She could see where it came from for his markings reminded her of different pools of water. Maybe there were different reasons as well? "I am Kainda." The orange mare huffed, her chest heaving up and down, mane brushing against her back and neck. At his lunge, she immediately reared up but his distraction caught her. She didn't have time to dodge his teeth but she did attempt to buck at his body. "Good go! But careful of approach!" Kainda called.
He had guts, Kainda gave him that much. Her tail flicked, ears flattened backwards He was large for a stallion with as much mane and tail as she. His dark green eyes were slightly alluring and the pendant around his neck was a tad bit interesting. But she was sure that he lacked what she needed. For now, he would either prove to be a good sparring partner or a waste of her time.

Dark Tide tried to lift his head out of the way fast enough but still got a short cuff under the chin for his trouble. He sidled back out of her circle and skipped around to the other side to see if she was faster or slower on this side. He snaked his head around and tried to catch at her mane while he stomped the ground with his fore feet to distract her from what he was up too. "I will remember," he said at her comment on approach. "Kainda is an interesting name. I have never herd it before. Do you remember it's origin?" he asked as he attempted to retreat again before she could pulverise him for staying in one spot to long. He hadn't fought much but he did know if you stayed still you were an easy target for a canny Azrein. His brother had bruised him a couple times that way. He spat some of the hair off her butt from his mouth. His emerald pendant swung as he moved. If he were to have a problem though it would be with his long mane. It was an easy mouth hold for her if she got close. And he knew she would because she was a fighter and he wasn't. Yet.

She smirked feeling the hit. Too bad it wasn't a better shot. She rested on all fours now, watching him closely. She began to circle him as well. At his feign lunge, she remembered the last time and surged forward - only to have his teeth catch her mane. She whinnied loudly but instead of pulling against him, she slammed her neck against his maw snorting loudly. "From a language probably dead. From what I remember, it means hunter's daughter." Her nostrils flared as sweat beaded off her pelt. Her hind hooves bucked then stomped the ground harshly. Her dark red eyes blazed with a friendly fury as she gave a toothy grin. "So what of yours, Dark Tide?"

He grunted at the impact and then back off a ways. "My Faher is called Darkness, he is pure black but his great grandmother was a paint, my Mother is a silvery white. She used to be grey but has faded somewhat since her youth. The deal between my parents was that Dad wanted Dark in our names and then Mom could put whatever name she wanted after it. My brother kind of melts into the dark with his dapple coat so his name is Dark Ion. Mother said I used to play in the water alot and so my name is Dark Tide." his chest heaved from all the talking during their sparring match. He closed again going for Kainda's neck ridge, but he wasn;t paying attention to the pine cone on the ground between them and tripped. This left him open to her and that was never a good thing. "So Kainda." he said, "are you a hunter's daughter?"

Kainda listened intently feeling her chest heave and her muscles burn from the intensity of the spar. Yet adrenaline poured through her veins like natural blood as her scent became ever so stronger. The mare had never felt so alive. Shaking her frame, she backed up from him as he tripped. Her red eyes zoomed in on his frame as she snorted. "Come. Let us relax. A cool walk and a drink will do us good." Her head shook gently as she started forward not waiting for him to follow. "And to answer your question, my father was a warrior in a tribe of wild horses. My mother was a priestess, but renounced her vows to give my father a foal. Unfortunately for him, it was a girl child. My mother went back into her spiritual life and my father went to bear foal with another mare who could give him a son." Kainda's eyes were dark as she recanted her tale, ears laid flat as if she could see her father now. "If I met him again, I'd bore his heart with my horn that I was given." Her tail flicked behind her as she snorted aggressively.

From his knees, Dark Tide relaxed his shoulders but watched her warily, she had said not to let his guard down. He rose slowly and followed. "In my opinion girl foals are just as important as boy foals, if not even more so. All foals are precious no matter what their gender. My mother probably wanted a girl but she got three boys instead." Tide sighed as he followed her. "I don't blame you for wanting to gore him, if I had a horn I would gore him too." Tide said resolutely.

Kainda looked over her shoulder hearing his voice. Her pelt rippled gently under her frame. "Oh? So you think without one, there cannot be the other?" The mare gave a snort of approval. "In any case, you don't look like the violent type so don't mess up your pretty coat." She gave a bit of a wink keeping pace with him now. "Females can be weak and females can be strong. Same for males as well. Strength is what makes you survive. It's how you handle that strength." Her gaze fell over him taking in his musk. They strode forward for a while allowing her body to cool from the strenuous match. "So tell me, Dark Tide, do you align yourself with the two-legged freaks or do you align yourself with your freedom?" The question was bound to come up sooner or later, and Kainda was curious. This stallion seemed to be of like mind, but if he were of her mind, she'd be more inclined to accept him.

"I have a good alignment, I don't mind people but so far I have not been chosen. If it happens it happens, if not I do not mind." he was aware this was a touchy subject she brought up but he wanted to tell her the truth. "My herd is good but so far none are chosen so I guess you could say we are free." he said. His brows furrowing. "As for my pretty coat it will get dirty when I deem that a cause is worthy enough to spoil it and taking cruelty down a notch or two is definitely a good cause." he said. "Do you openly oppose humans or do you simply find them in distaste and don't care one way or another?" Dark Tide stopped at a clear flowing stream to drink and awaited her answer.

A bad taste formed in his mouth. Too good to be true it seemed. She didn't even bother to hide it as her eyes grew dark with annoyance. Another lover of the hairless beings it seemed. "Humans are a bane to our existence. They like you to think they are friends one moment and the next, they have no qualms sticking you in the back. I would rather have them off this island. Though I am neutral, I have a distaste for them..." The mare almost found herself spitting venom at this point. She lashed her snout at the water drinking angrily. It cooled not only her body but her temper as well. "I suppose someone has to be chivalrous. And those that do must be willing to get their hooves dirty, hmmm?" The look she gave him was of playful malice, ears flicking forward then back again. As much as Kainda didn't want to come off as threatening, it probably wasn't working. The mare was very vocal when she wanted to.

"I neither agree with you or disagree with you, It has never been my place to impose a belief on another and I don't intend to now. Nice stream water isn't it? Very fresh and clear." he said as he took another drink. At least she didn't have her ears plastered to her head. " And yes chivalry had its moments doesn't it. But for the right cause I would get my pelt dirty, not just my hooves" He kept his head level with hers, neither threatening or backing down. She was upset, she was entitled to lash out. "You know my brother was chased out of a females forest, the only reason he escaped was by jumping into the swamp, uck." he said. "He smelled like slough water for days and i forced him to bath before we slept, though it helped little with the smell." he wrinkled his nose in disgust. He had not slept well with the creature from the black lagoon sleeping beside him.
