Today, Xavier was 19. It didn't honestly feel any different than any other day, to be honest - he'd stopped caring about grand birthday celebrations a few years ago. Birthday consisted of a phone call from both his parents and buying himself a small cake out of his favorite bakery, and that was where he usually called it a day.
This year was different, through - There was Bell. As far as he knew, they didn't have much planned - maybe go hang out at her place later.
Yes, he was still very much clueless. Now, he was just back from work, and currently combing through his still-wet hair as he stepped out of the shower to sit down on his couch, Tempo jumping on the armrest to demand a pet every now and then.

And meanwhile Bell was getting off the phone with the mechanic who had just notified her that he had taken the car back where it belonged, hopefully as incognito as possible - it probably helped the Xavier had been in the shower at the time - and left the note from bell in the driver's seat like instructed. All this just as she was finishing up the cake. She might not care much for her own birthday, but like she wasn't going to do something for his? FFFT! And what a thing to do indeed - A fully repaired car and cake?
There was a sly grin on Bell's face as she called Xavier to ask if he could come over so she could give him his present. No doubt the moment he stepped out of the building he'd see a very familiar car sitting in the parking lot. It was all she could do to keep herself contained, and not giggle like a giddy school girl.

He got the call and said he'd be down there in a few minutes, giving himself time to dry his hair out. In reality, it would take much longer by that.
Hell, he'd almost overlooked the car completely, now so used to having seen it gone - but he spotted it, just in the nick of time.
That was odd, he hadn't heard anything back from his dad about it... Maybe the thieves had realized it was a piece of s**t.
That was, of course, before he took a look in, saw the note, and read it.
He did, in fact, spend nearly five minutes staring at the note, as if expecting the words to magically change.
Eventually, he did manage to drive his way there (he had a point to make, right ?) and just came in without knocking like he was now used to.
"By gods you are..." Completely nuts, but the words got lost. It had been a long time since he'd been so utterly... Well, speechless. "How did you manage that ?! Holy crap. T-That... Holy crap."

Bell was a caught a bit off guard by the sudden entrance, whipping around wide-eyed to see who has just come in the door without so much as a knock. Sure, she was expecting him, but even she forgot how much faster he'd be in arriving if he drove.
The startled expression quickly became a bright grin, lighting her eyes. Hearing the shock in his voice and seeing the look on his face was priceless, and yet, oh so worth it.
"A deep bank account and some sneaky collaboration with your father. Happy birthday, love."
She then hugged him tightly, but not before a quick kiss on the cheek.
Yes. Very much worth it.

"I get you a necklace and you basically get me a new car." He said, lacing his arms around her waist. "Somehow im not sure that's how equivalency works."
He could have made an equivalent exchange joke, but... Yeah, too much anime lately.
"You got my father to play along ?" Well, that explained why he hadn't heard anything - Damian probably hadn't even filed in a report if he was in the plot.

"It's not about equivalenxy," Bell said brightly, "It's about doing something unexpected and hopefully enjoyed."
Having one less thing to stress about was always a bonus. Especially with college coming up in the fall, and who knew what senshidom would throw at them now...
When asked about his father, Bell simply nodded.
"Yeah. The last thing I'd want would be the cops showing up when I was just trying to do something nice."
And the cops didn't seem to like to play nice anymore. Not after the past couple of years of 'terrorism.' Not that they probably would have bothered going after a stolen vehicle anyway, but it was good to have all the bases covered. A criminal record is not something that looked good as a prospective teacher.

"Oh, trust me - it is enjoyed." Holy s**t, working car. Xavier was quite certain that the only times he had ever not needed to worry about his car crapping on him was when he had been driving his father's before moving out.
Xavier had only figured out why the car had been so cheap after it had been brought. It was just how these things happened.
"Yeah, that's understandable." It was a little amazing that his dad had been able to keep it hidden from him, but there was no need to let Bell know that his father was normally a huge tease. And a bad actor.

Well, at least this time around things had worked out, and victory was best celebrated with cake!
In the kitchen waited 2 layers of chocolate with chocolate frosting. The top was also decorated with chocolate chips and cherries, making a small border. It was simple and shouted 'SUGAR COMA!' but that was alright.
Bell was perfectly giddy, and somewhat hyper already. She'd never been so excited at having done something for someone, ever. It was a really good feeling. She gave another tight hug, cheek rested comfortable against his chest, and she simply gave a happy, contented, sigh, smile ever present on her face.
"So," came her slightly muffled voice, "would you like some cake to go with your newly repaired car?"

"Well, no birthday is worthy without sending me in a diabetic coma, right ?" And this cake seemed completely worthy for the title. Thank god Xavier was a fiend for chocolate. Not even a cake youma had managed to kill his love for chocolate.
But then... That was probably the point of Mt. Chocolate Overload over there.
"You're got chocolate milk, right ?"
He seemed completely serious.

Diabetic comas meant comfy human pillows afterward. Of course, that had been an after thought.
"Absolutely. I'm not completely crazy. ...yet. Depends on who you talk to I guess." She chuckled a bit.
Yeah~ Conspiracy theory senshi, she was one. Still, she'd gladly be crazy if it meant having so much love in her life.

"You know." He had turned to fetch two plates and mugs from the cupboard. "They say that in some level, we're all crazy in different ways - it's the normal ones that are truly ******** up." And the batshit crazy ones, but that seemed rather obvious, right ?
"Beside, im sure there's a few people who would tell you I am completely batshit if you asked around." Not so shining moments ? He had those.

"And normal is just a setting on a clothes dryer," Bell replied, slicing cake and then pouring milk.
"But that's okay. We can just be two loonies and have fun while the rest of the world lives as a slave to sanity," the sentence was siad with some theatric flare.

"Hell, my clothes dryer doesn't even have a normal setting !" No kidding. Seriously. He could show her later, even !
The clothes dryer in East Height wasn't exactly new technology, to say it kindly.
"I tried to be normal." The poor cake had no chance - it was all but being stabbed in instants. "It's boring."

"I hear being normal is the hardest job you'll ever quit," nom nom, "Obviously your clothes dryer already did."
And obviously said dryer had the right idea.

And so forth, pretty much.
"So, what have you been up to ?" He asked, continuing his mission of cake consumption. Stab stab, nom nom.
"Beside, you know, dragging my father into conspiracy theories and all that." He continued, amused.
