Ja'syn sat on a boulder near the feeding pens deep in thought. So much change, so much upheaval. He would soon be in his 29th turn and had been moody of the late. He did not like the way that Benden was going. Crimson dragons, time travel over bugs and weeds, listening to old fools. True, there had been some benefit to all the chaos but there were reasons for rules and why things were the way they were... Bend a rule and soon you bend it too far and it snaps.
He was waiting for the snap.
Ja'syn supposed he could always ask for a transfer but where would he go? No, he was a creature of habit and in Benden he would stay for better or worse. Apparently worse. Yirath and Kestril were not going anywhere as they were in their prime. Brynth had no ambitions to fly a gold either.
So the only solution in his eyes was to find a bronze rider that he liked well enough to support during the next Flight. And in order to do that, he would have to get Brynth to talk to other dragons, offering support and compliments. A lot of work for only a possible payoff.

Canoake was on the far side of the pens, underneath some trees. To any who walked past her, it looked as if she was watching the dragons and perhaps admiring her own love. But to the few who might have known her, she was deep in thought and planning.
Slowly she was gathering powerful allies.
But it wasn't just powerful allies that she would need. There were more blues and greens than any other color of dragon. And she knew from being a weyrbrat that if the underlings did not get along with the management, sooner or later that person was gone. She would have to get A'nos to start paying more attention to his clutchmates and other lesser dragons.
Not that Tatath was lesser than anything but color. Her wit and style definitely surpassed Yirath's own. But that was something they could not change. The gold still had many years of flight left in her. Canoake looked about and noticed a brown rider across the field also watching. She thought a moment and then placed him. Ja'syn. A brown rider.
Well, she could always work her way to the bottom. Casually, she got up, brushing off any stray grass and leaf and began to make her way across to the pens to keep another rider company.

Now Ja'syn knew who the young woman was that was approaching him. How could he not with the results of that last disastrous hatching? Still, it would do good for him to remain silent as she approached him. Legs crossed at the ankles and arms crossed, Ja'syn was a good looking sight. Looking around, he spotted Brynth across the way and involved in a meal.
He supposed it was not a bad thing that the green was not around. He had heard a few things from his dragon about the green charmer. Watching and waiting was no easy task for him as she came to a stop in front of him. "Hello there," he spoke politely. Some mannerisms never changed.

Canoake came to a stop and assessed the rider in front of her. Not handsome but eye catching enough. He looked like he expected something from her which he had every right. The green rider was not sure what she would get from this meeting but she expected it to be a fine dance. Tossing her hair, she gave a smile. "Greetings rider. I hope you do not mind me joining your company. My lovely is off stuffing her belly, though she will not be long at it."
Without waiting for an answer, she moved and sat upon the fence that keep the food at bay. She found herd beasts rather filthy and disturbing. As long as Tatath cleaned herself before coming back to the their weyr, Canoake saw it as a needed evil. "My name is Canoake. Rider of Tatath."

"I am Ja'syn and my Brynth is off feeding as well. Well met. As for company, I do not mind it. Don't mind me if I am quiet though, I have a lot on my mind as of late." There. He told her as politely as possible that he wouldn't want too much chatter from her. Especially, ideal girl chit chat.
The brown raised his bloody maw and licked his lips. There was a very nice lithe green feeding across from him. Hello Tatath. Our riders speak.

Canoake settled herself and studied the older rider for a few moments. Handsome enough and if she remembered correctly from outside of Benden but one who adapted quickly. He was also one of those who quietly did not approve of what was going on in Benden nor her leaders. "I believe we all have something on our minds as of late. Silence is good to settle these thoughts but if you can to indulge your thoughts, I shall give you mine in return."
Arranging her skirts like one would arrange armor, Canoake looked over and smiled fondly at her dragon. "Such a beauty. Your brown seems to be in rather good color as well."
Tatath looked up from her meal and hoped that she appeared as lovely as Hers. She did not gorge like her sister did nor did she resist when a tasty meal came her way. Wings pulled close to emphasis her small stature, the green replied. Greetings Brynth. I see you are doing well. My rider enjoys the company of others.
