in raw power, yes. GS sacrifice a bit of the power that hammers pack for the range it has and capability of guarding, while DS are actually incredibly weak- but they strike so fast and move so quick that they do sizable damage even in comparison to other weapons.

It all depends really, the strongest weapons tend to be LS, GS, HBG and Hammers

it all depends on the hunter itself,different styles calls for different weapons biggrin

Honestly, while it takes practice: Learn to gun. I like using the bow, but my friend has shown me how much a HBG can make hunting easier--especially on annoying monsters like Plesioth or the Kirin (high rank). xD

Guns/bows are strong but take long to kill and dont do well on minions. Im a hammer user but i think long swords are the best because of power booster, combo speed, and versatility. Happy Hunting biggrin

I tend to prefer the gunlance myself. Turtle everything, unleash crazy explosive power. Oh, and the shots go through armor. Basarios and Gravios are nothing to me.
Of course, any weapon has the potential to be devastating if the right hunter uses it.

Hunting horn. Raw and KO damage plus stat boost songs make me horny.
