If anyone looked at the small cluster of horses they would think a mated pair and the mare's foal were accompanying the mare's brother along his trek. While Battle Stories did nothing before talking it through with war.. He was heading up the group. War Stories had positioned herself between Siska and Konue.
While on the outside War looked pleasantly happy on the inside she was fretting about Konue. Battle had walked past the turn off to the rest area while she hadn't been paying attention. They had been walking a long time and she was worried that when Konue collapsed from exhaustion it wouldn't be in a safe place...Snorting in discomfort she was keeping an eye on the trees looking for a place to rest.
War Stories glanced to Siska and forced a cheerful disposition playfully bumping into him. "Konue is holding up better then you." She grinned down to the foal and then back to siska.

Siska had to admit--these horses must have been used to traveling, because even his well-worn legs were becoming exhausted from the endless uphill trek. He wondered when this so-called rest stop would be coming up, and if there'd be a good supply of fresh water. He wouldn't mind a drink at the moment, and even something to wash the dust out of his pale hair.
He glanced back at Konue who, despite the hard trek, seemed to be holding up quite well. He was in high spirits, and perhaps that fueled his energy as well as any rest would. Siska could only hope--he didn't want to weigh the others down, yet he didn't want to be left without them.
He gave a half-smile to War, glancing up at Battle, who seemed relentless with his pace. "I would have to agree with you, I'm afraid. At least Konue still has the innocence of a foal, and believes that this journey is naught but a vacation." He glanced away, towards the far mountains, where a gateway to Hell was rumored to be. "He doesn't know about the Hell horses... yet... I didn't want him to know until he needs to. It's not something to take lightly."

War spotted a back path... The would be walking back on themselves slightly... but it would be better to have a safe place to rest. She flicked her tail and called out to Battle."Lets take this path..."
After letting Bat know she was turning she glanced back at Siska. "What?!" She smiled. "This isn't the vacation?" She looked down at Konue... "I would demand that my money be returned pronto..." She shook her head.
She flattened her ears and nodded. "You are right... there are some seriously messed up horses out there..." She flicked her tail and had to look at her feet as the path became very steep. "Watch your step Konue... its dangerous and i don't want you to fall." She waited to make sure the foal made it down the slope before heading into a wider path. She knew bat would take up the rear...

Siska let out a sigh at War's mention of rest. Perhaps they would stop soon--no one seemed eager enough to suggest something different.
He gave a small huff of mirth at War's playful words, and glanced down at Konue. He still seemed quite happy about the situation, though his sides seemed to be heaving heavily. Siska walked up to his son's side, giving him support if he needed it.
Konue glanced up at War, giving a large smile, and trying to get words out between breaths. "Maybe it's not a vacation... but it's fun, right? I've never... traveled this far!" He tripped then, but it was only a small motion and he caught himself before he could fall, giving an embarrassed chuckle.
"Okay War! I'll have to listen to you better next time. No more tripping!" He kept his eyes peeled for more bumps, his ears set forward in determination.
Siska gave an exasperated sigh, turning back to War. "If only I had the energy of a foal, I would need nothing else!"

Laughing merrily she glanced to Siska and then nodded slightly. "Well... I certainly don't have that energy... so we are gonna rest here a bit." She nodded to the clearing up ahead. There was a small pond. "I think a break is in order."
War really wasn't one for breaks. But she could see that the stallion wasn't doing to well... and she wanted to make sure Konue didn't push himself. She flicked her tail and looked over to bat. He didn't seem to happy.
Bat was frowning. His features stood out in angry slashes. He never liked it when his follies fell through. Snorting he trampled down the slope and ignoring everyone... he headed straight to the pond. Dropping his head he took a nice long drink.
War shook her head. "You can swim in this pond if you want to, Konue." She flicked her tail "There are no leeches or anything."
