User ImageIt was early morning, and the sounds of the day were beginning to emerge. Alone, Busara was walking alongside the stream that stretched through the pride’s lands. It was cooler here, as the mountain prevented the sun from beating down directly upon them. She turned her head this way and that as she walked, gradually taking in the lands that she would now call home for the remainder of her life.

Much of her life had been spent in motion, never lingering in any one place for too long, it never made sense for her to. As a young lioness, she found endless adventure in the world, and reveled in each day on her own. It had always been difficult, and she often went hungry, but she had still enjoyed it.

In the more recent times, she had begun to notice a general state of fatigue that seemed to constantly blanket her. She knew that she was done with wandering the expanse of the desert that she had called home, and she knew that she would never leave these lands.

She doubted that she would get over the habit of wandering any time soon, so she also looked out for corners of the lands that she could retreat too when things initially became overwhelming. Contemplating her new surroundings, she turned to head back.

Ugh. Mornings. Sumana hated them. She didn't know why she was awake so early, but she had that haunted feeling that she wasn't going to fall back asleep soon. So, she had gotten up, and got herself ready for part of the day. Hunting later, but first, a drink.

She climbed down from her normal sleeping spot, leisurely walking towards the stream for a drink. She bent her head down, gulping up the cool, refreshing water. That would get her brain (and body) the kick it needed to stop being so tired.

She lifted her head, bits of water dripping off of her chin. She noticed a lioness she had not seen before. Interesting. She waited, looking at the silver female that was still a bit away from her walking along the stream.

Gazing up at the mountains, she leisurely made her way back up the stream. As she got closer and closer, Busara noticed a white lioness directly up ahead of her. Slowing her pace, Busara thought that perhaps she would move on soon, but she seemed to have no intentions of it.

Previously hoping that she wouldn’t run into anyone, she was overcome by an unexpected bout of skiddishness. Initially, she considered simply walking away from the stream to avoid her, however, she figured that she would meet with everyone eventually. There would be no use running now that she was here.

Before arriving, she would not normally approach an unfamiliar lion, so this was relatively new to her.

Hesitating for a moment, she took a slight breath and trudged forward towards her. Once she had reached her, she stopped and politely spoke with her head held up,“Hello, my name is Busara, I am new here.”

Standing there, she took in the lioness before her. Busara wondered who she was and if she’d even be interested in talking to her.

"You're part of the new group..." That was all Sumana said at first. Her eyes narrowed...but then softened (just slightly!). "Welcome," she said carefully. It wouldn't do good to chase off new blood because she wasn't the most kind lioness around. "I am Sumana."

Her front paws twitched a bit as she thought about moving closer, but instead decided to stay where she was. A bit conflicted, which was unusual for the white lioness.

"Do you feel as if you've started to settle in well?"

Relaxing somewhat at the response, Busara responded back, “Yes, I am one of the group that arrived here recently, thank you.”

She didn’t know what she had been expecting her to say regarding their presence in the pride, but she supposed that everyone probably did know about her and her group’s arrival here. From wandering about the land, it did not seem as though this was one of the bigger prides, Busara had only seem so many lions around. Given that realization, she figured that word traveled quickly around here.

Looking at the lioness before her for a moment, Busara decided to stay a comfortable distance from her. Sumana was it? She did not seem to be the overly friendly type, but she still seemed willing to speak to her, which Busara was grateful for.

“I am settling quite well here. It is very different from where I used to live, but this is a good place for me to be.” Curious, she briefly wondered if Sumana had been born here in this pride, but Busara decided to leave the questions for later.

"It is quiet here," Sumana replied with a small nod of her head. "Which can be a good thing, or not." She paused, thinking about it for a moment. Cubs could disturb the peace, but there hadn't been too many of them lately. Thank goodness.

"At least you know where the water is," Sumana said in an attempt to crack a joke. She wasn't very good at them. "Your group will be a good asset to us."

She was trying to be a little more friendly, but didn't think she was doing a good job at it. Oh well.

Smiling lightly, she replied at the stream that she had been walking along,“Yes, I haven’t seen a stream like this in a while.”

It had been a long time since she had left her birthplace and made her way to the desert. Busara thought that quiet could be a good thing for her. Thinking about all the time that she had spent in the desert, she realized that she hadn’t ever really had quiet. Well, she had, but it wasn’t nearly this peaceful.

The desert had been a different sort of quiet. Her life had been filled with excitement and adventure, both the good and bad kinds. She’d had her fun though. Living in this pride would take some getting used to for her, but somehow she didn’t think that it would be so hard.

Looking at Sumana and attempting to made conversation, she asked about the pride. “Are there any other places around here that I should know about?”

"Oh!" Sumana could almost smack herself for forgetting. "I'm certain that you've heard of it, but not too terribly far from the main cave that we all sleep in is the cave where food is stored. Usually we put leftover bits of food there for the youngsters and the males after we eat."

Sumana pondered for a moment longer, but she couldn't really think of anything. "Otherwise you should just enjoy a good sun bath on one of the rocks," she said, feeling herself the urge to purr. She loved them. "It'll relax you, plus you can see what everyone else is up to if you find the right rock."

Busara gazed about the lands and nodded as Sumana spoke of the land’s features. She realized that she hadn’t even noticed the smaller cave lower on the mountainside where the pride’s den sat. Well, that was good to know, now she could stop hiding her kills in odd places.

As she looked upon the rest of the pride, she had noticed the large rocks while exploring. She had been tempted to lounge on them, however, her slight anxiety caused by being new here had kept her laying low. If nothing else, Busara did enjoy the communal layout of the place.

Even though she was feeling shy now, she would come to appreciate it and would never feel lonely here. Looking back to the lioness, she said with a smile, “Thank you for taking this time to speak with me, I’m sure you have other thinks that you could be doing right now.”

Thinking for a moment, Busara wondered what Sumana’s position in the pride was. She would have to ask her some day.

"You're welcome," Sumana said, a slight tone of boredom escaping her mouth. Damn. Well, she'd just have to make up for her mistakes one day. Maybe.

"Just make sure you wave me down if you have any more questions," she added on with the wave of a paw. "I'm always wandering around, and thankfully this white coat is good for something." She stuck out a lot, actually.

"I'll see you later Busara...you'll get the hang of this life!" And with that, Sumana slunk off to go find a good rock for a nap.
