 Nawat crunched softly on a root he'd dug from the edge of the lake. It had a peculiar salty twinge to it, and he wasn't entirely sure it was edible, but it hadn't made him sick yet. That was always a good sign. He hadn't had the best luck finding comfort in the forest, yet he always found himself drawn back to it. There was something about the soft cover of the trees. Even though he was fairly bulky he could hide himself among the trunks and feel the same as he did in his dreams, light and free. He missed it.

 Her hooves clipped through the dirt as she walked around in the forest. The day had been nice, the sun shining through the leaves and making the forest seem even more beautiful than it seemed. The jewels around her neck seemed to shine even more that day, as the sun reflected off them, causing the ground to become illuminated with the shimmering jewel's light. She could smell the water near the lake as she approached it, letting out a content sigh. The whole day she hadn't been able to stop smiling.

The gleam caught his attention before the mare came into view, and for a moment Nawat felt himself transfixed watching the lights dance across the ground. They were magnificent. The root dropped from his mouth with a little bit of drool, but he didn't seem to notice. He had to find where it was coming from. Eyes dazzling he wandered toward it, barely aware that the source hung around the mare's neck. She was much smaller than his draft frame, a sort he'd never seen before. And didn't see yet. Caught in his shiny trance he nearly slammed into her.

Her eyes grew wide as she saw the stallion. He was still walking and just about to run into her. Without thinking, her tracks stopped, and she stepped to the side to let him pass. "Sorry," she said, giving him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe the sun was in his eyes.

The voice caught him off guard and his head snapped up, smashing against a low hanging branch. He blinked a few times as he pulled his eyes from the now rather fuzzy sparkling and to her face. Damn. Many times damn. "I uh," he paused, noting her necklace with a certain hungry feeling before he realized what had happened. "Oh..." he said softly, gesturing with his head to the branch, "Be careful." That was stupid, she wasn't nearly so tall as he was, nor as distracted, "The uh, I'm sorry." Very smooth.
