This is just a little rant on something that bothers me. I'm not talking about heavy set, or just simply bigger than your normal Sailor Scout. What I'm talking about, are people... for whatever reason, that weight like 300+ lbs trying to pull off a Sailor Scout. Okay, some people can still pull off a look given some extra weight. Some do a great job of it. But if you've got so much hanging off your sides that it covers the majority of your skirt, I don't think Sailor Scout was the right choice to be. I know that observation may detract from people's wishes and desires to just be what they want to be, and I certainly keep it to myself n public, but at the same time I can't help but find it revolting. I mean, the barf reflex kicks in and everything.
It also bothers me when men do this. Likewise, Vash did not weight 300+lbs either. I saw a guy who probably weighed that much or more trying to pull off Vash, but he made it look like a buckled up hot air balloon, all round and... I dunno. It's probably very bad that I have that reaction, but it's hard not to see it as out of place.
Now, when what isn't right actually fits... I've seen guys pull off perfect cosplays of female characters. And I've seen women pull off perfect cosplays of male characters. That's a good example of not fitting the bill, but making it work anyway.

If you're talking about my Sailor Constructs, bear in mind that they are metal, thus, would be heavier than the flesh and blood Senshi.

If you're talking about my Sailor Constructs, bear in mind that they are metal, thus, would be heavier than the flesh and blood Senshi. I think she's talking more about cosplayers that are really heavy set but still dress as Senshi. I've seen some overweight cosplays myself that have turned out good...but then there's defiantly the bad. I agree that with everything there should be a limit. I think that when you cosplay you should keep your body type in mind. The senshi is canon are very slim, so a good cosplay should try to mimic that. I think a large part of the Senshi cosplays come from skirt length though. If you're heavy set then you should go with a bit longer skirt. Certain body types just do not belong in a super teeny skirt. The same goes for men I agree, a lot of it having to do with how well the outfit fits. Really there's plenty of characters that are overweight/heavy set/big boned in anime, so if you look hard enough it won't be that hard to find someone or something that fits your weight. Ex: Dress up as the portal's cake and it doesn't matter what weight you are really. Also Gluttony from FMA is obviously heavy set. Still if you have an outfit that hides your extra curves then shows them, kudos.

I don't know, on the one hand I would say you should be able to wear whatever you want and someone telling you otherwise is just a naysayer, and on the other hand, I don't really like seeing the women in skimpy shorts with "juicey" written on the butt... 300 Ibs or 100 Ibs. I would definitely say that the Sailor Scout uniform is certainly not for everyone.
