The afternoon had proven to be uneventful and with little else to do, the Snivy had elected to return home after completing much of his 'to-do' list. There were still outstanding bits and pieces but for the most part, he was satisfied with his progress. In fact, he had made enough progress to afford himself an opportunity to relax, unwind and enjoy the rest of his evening. His immediate plan was to return home, a necessary act to satiate his hunger and after that it was safe to assume that his activities for the final hours of the day were open to debate. Truth be told, he had very little inclination or motivation to do anything but he was sure to discover some sort of activity that he regarded as entertaining.
It was with this in mind that Narcissus slipped down one of the more obscure streets and strode towards his apartment. Well worn and battered, the street itself was reasonably unknown to tourists but used heavily by residents. Decidedly dirty, there were certain corners and sections that the Gijinka elected to avoid - how humans lived in such conditions was beyond him and he was thankful that he lived within a more picturesque region of the city. Granted, the residential area wasn't spectacular but it was clean, relatively secure and free from the more irritable qualities the city possessed...
Noise.
Dirt.
Beggars.
Regardless of whether or not he might have to traverse more unpleasant streets to navigate his way towards home, but at least he didn't have to take up any permanent residence in them!
Alas, with such a purposeful gait, his journey was a short one and no sooner had he slipped into one dreary alleyway than he found himself in another. With each step and each street, the air began to clear and the cleanliness improved. Fifteen minutes or so of travel time and he was soon touched by the familiar scent of his home 'turf'. He promptly cast his scarlet gaze upwards towards the four story apartment complex and allowed a small smile to tease across the corners of his lips. It was clear that the other residents had returned home, the lights illuminating various rooms on the additional three floors - this was a bonus. Why? Well, it generally meant that his mail had been sorted for him and any deliveries had been propped neatly against his door.
Odd as it might have seemed, he was treated with a surprising amount of respect despite his species. Disregarding the unusual hairstyle, something he explained as creativity and a lot of hairspray; very few took immediate note of his unusual quirks and with only eye colour and ears to explain in depth, it would have been difficult for any to discern he wasn't human. Consequently, most regarded him as human and treated him as a normal neighbour. It was something he encouraged and not one of them needed to know he had the ability to sprout plantlife from his hands for nefarious purposes!
He paused momentarily, accounting for any traffic that might place itself between him and the entrance to the complex and then he crossed. Passing through the rear entrance, he slammed the door unceremoniously shut behind him and proceeded up the steps...

The hallway had been dimly lit as they sometimes do when the sun sinks back into the horizon, preventing the gouging pain in ones eyes when enduring the sharp fluxes in luminosity when coming from outside. However, it was more enough for people to discern the whereabouts of their apartment rooms, the subtle drops in the stairs and the general structure of inside the apartment building. It was fairly dark but oddly comforting, perhaps in it's resemblance to burrow. Quiet...and out of the way. Of course it was a bit too spacious for the Luxray's taste, but all considering he really had no mind or place to be picky. He was simply content to have a place to rest his bones.
Not but an hour earlier Tobias had dragged his body through they alley leading up to the apartment building. There, around back, he would decide to take refuge in it's stairwell. At the time it appeared to be suitably out of the way, though he might of thought otherwise knowing not what it was for. Luckily, traffic in and out of the apartment during this time of day was little to none, which may have been a good thing as it gave him chance to rest with some peace of mind.
The city would be the death of him. Especially cars. ******** cars. This was all the doing of those wretched metal beasts.
The large feline's body lay draped over the first couple of stairs in a black and red heap, arms stretched out beneath his head in a manner that suggested he was trying to further climb. Be that the case, his efforts were obviously ill met. It did not seem particularly comfortable position, especially as his clothing and skin clinging to the cold, cemented steps, absolutely painted with blood; not all of which was his own.
In fact, it was not just were he lay. All the ground the feline had tread along the way was sticky with the red fluid, though most of it dragged off in the streets. It may have been more evident but between the thick oil that was washed over the roads from it's frequent wear, the fading sunlight and typical inner city grime, it was hard to make heads or tails of the dark red streaks that fallowed along behind the luxray's path--well, at least until reaching the building complex which was much more neatly kept.
Under the constant dull hum of the lights, albeit quiet at first, was a disturbance in sound. To the human ear, it may have been too distant to audible, but his sensitive feline ears had no difficulties picking it up. Tap..Tap..Tap.. Increasingly in pitch it reverberated of the walls, consistent with the sound of pattering feet of many of the cities residents. Someone was approaching. A hazy golden glow tore through the poorly lit entrance as he reluctantly managed to lift his head in the direction of the sound. Against the back-lighting of the outdoors he could only manage to see the silhouette of what looked to be a person.
A deep rumble fell from off his lips, rolling into a lingering hiss which seemed to trail out across the room and flood it's corners. This person was unwelcomed, and he wanted to make sure that they knew it.

Observation was not his strongest point at this time of the evening and as such, he hadn't taken note of the blood pools. Nevertheless, it was impossible to ignore them when his boot impacted with what seemed to be liquid - particularly when they stained the leather and left spatters that were likely to take an age to get out. It should have come at no surprise that the male came to a halt in that instant and shifted his gaze downwards. He was greeted with the site of a scarlet pool beneath his boot. For the most part, it had solidifed and seeped into the tiles, but the middle was still waiting patiently to evaporate.
"Blood," he observed softly, lifting his foot away with distaste. His hand slid out of his pocket as he bent his knee and lifted his leg up to inspect the damage. The spatters were small in comparison to what they could have been, but it was still enough to sour his mood. Srunching up his nose, Narcisuss then released a weary sigh as he released his hold on his leg and placed it on the ground. Electing to avoid the blood pool, he swept around it and took extra care to avoid anymore. How he had managed to ignore the angered hiss until this point was unknown, though one might have assumed that it had something to do with his irritation at his boots.
Well, no one had ever said that his priorities made sense.
Regardless, with the issue of his boots addressed and his attentions now drawn to the blood spatters in his complex (an odd occurance to be sure), he finally took note of the hostile snarls that seemed to reverberate throughout the stairwell. The Snivy was momentarily startled by the quality of the sound, it was no whisper and rippled through the still air so how had he missed it? Another momentary pause to afford himself the opportunity to raise a brow and then he stepped forward a little more. However, aware of the foreign entity within the dark and enclosed area, he took measures to move with much more caution.
One step.
Two steps.
It took mere seconds to take note of the living mound of flesh slumped across multiple steps. Narci was no doctor, but it really wouldn't have taken a genius to realise that whoever it was, wasn't in the best of conditions. An unfortunate thing for Tobias, but more of an inconvenience for the Snivy... after all, the mound of 'flesh' was blocking much of the lower stairwell. Suffice to say that sliding passed that would ruin his boots even more - nevertheless, he took some satisfaction in the news that the person was alive. Arceus only knew how much scandal would be caused if there was a murder in his complex and he didn't need that sort of scandal here!
Another pause was taken as Narcissus shifted his attention towards the entity on the stairs and it was in these moments that he assessed the situation in greater detail. Point one of his initial observations? The person strewn across the stairwell happened to have a tail. Point two; said individual was also in possession of a set of fluffy ears... For all intents and purposes, the stranger on the stairwell was a cat. It certainly gave grounds for further thought and the brow that had been raised lifted higher, threatening to disappear into the gijinka's hairline.
Narcissus released a weary sigh, lifted his hand to rub at the back of his neck and finally spoke. "If you're going to do that, can you bleed over in the corner?" he remarked, motioning with a brief nod of his head towards an area closer to the door. "You're in my way - " he trailed off and shook his head at this, strands of teal hair trickling across his left cheek. "That and you're ruining the view," he added and pursed his lips.

One step...
xxxx Two step...
Ears stood pointedly, watching the figure continue to press onward. Bold. Tobias could not help but take notice of the man's ease when approaching, especially when others might only think to run given such a hostile greeting... Perhaps it just be that man was more aware of his condition than Tobias cared to let on--but at least he had enough sense to keep his distance. However, the space between was not enough to content the feline's nerves.
For a moment the stairwell became illuminated, sparks snaking in and out of the Luxray's skin so that the shape of the stairs, the texture of the worn, metal railing as well as the glossy, half solidified, pools of blood below him that dripped from step to step became more apparent. The Snivy's speculations were right in a way. Clearly he was not human. Although, saying he was completely feline would not be correct either. As the bolts of electricity threateningly danced along the features of his face, it revealed a fair bit more as to what he was. This was not entirely his intentions, not that he really cared. Tobias just wanted to make his feelings a little more obvious towards the other in hopes they'd go away. However, he did little else to fend them off. A bluff. He hadn't the strength for much more than his little light show--In fact, really he didn't even have the energy for that.. A few flickers and the sparks would fade out completely, returning the apartment building to it's original darkened state.
Gave off one last stifled growl, crackling as a build of fluid within his throat choked the airways.
The other spoke, and not a moment too soon. The blatant show of disrespect the words carried did not appear to enrage the feline any further, he simply seemed to focus on the implications of what was being said--or rather was trying..."In his way?" He tempted to let the words settle in his mind and with what little coherence his fleeting thoughts allowed, realized that confrontation may have not been man's the agenda. Good. Tobias feared he would not be able to anyway, it was hard enough just staying conscious... Too hard...
Clutching firmly at the base of one of the lower steps he attempted to shove off and out of the way as the man had requested. No luck. His body refused to be moved. How pathetic. Can't even roll over a few inches. Tobias slowly exhaled in both frustration and defeat. Having no will or patients to further fight his current position, he let his eye lay shut and rest, utterly dead to the world.

Well, Narcissus would certainly give points for effort; the fallen and soon-to-be corpse had put on a show. It was a brief show and the strain had clearly taken its toll as the individual possessed no further strength following it. Alas, what Tobias had managed to do in those brief moments was confirm the Snivy's immediate suspicions. Whoever Tobias might have been, no one could dispute that he was a gijinka - by Arceus, they really were popping up like daisies around here.
DAISIES!
How many was that now? He would have estimated he'd encountered at least three in the last few days and only one of those hadn't involved a catastrophic inconvenience to him. Suffice to say, Narcissus initial encounters with his own kin had left a lasting impression, if he'd thought the Team Rocket Grunts were bad, he hadn't seen anything yet.
Alas, with his strength exhausted, Tobias had colapsed and this left Narcissus in a rather awkward predicament. While he could technically leap over the fallen gijinka, he wasn't really in the mood - however, the only other way to get passed Tobias was to move him. This was something that had almost been an immediate 'no go', a moment in which his desire to protect his clothes had dominated internal negotiations... However, if he weren't to move Tobias and just happened to appear from this particular stairwell then...
Well, it would look suspicious.
"I hate you," he muttered, his remarks directed towards the unconcious Gijinka. "I hate you and all your stupid kittens too," he continued. It was then that he shook his head, took a breath and placed his hands on his hips. Whether he liked it or not, some of the articles of clothing he wore would have to be sacrificed for the 'greater good' and besides, logic eventually won out in the end - if he saved this thing then it would owe him. That was useful in many respects!
Decision made, the Snivy paused momentarily to tug off his coat and then flicked himself forward. Bending over, he cast his hair forward and down in a long waterfall of teal, and then promptly spun his coat sleeves into what could only be described as a ribbon. Coiling the long locks into a braid, he swept his head back again and secured the knot of his coat at the top - the perfect way to protect his coat and his hair. With his shoes already ruined and his trousers largely unimportant, they would make for a fitting sacrifice.
"Right," he seemed satisfied at this point and in one smooth motion, leant forward and slung the unconcious man's arm across his shoulder. He then coiled his arm around his waist, wrinkling his nose in distaste as his fingertips were dampened. He then made his way up the stairs.
It was slow progress, but with considerable effort Narcissus did manage to stumble through his doorway and deposit the very heavy 'corpse' on his couch. It wasn't the most tender or appropriate way of taking care of a patient but the Snivy was no Nurse Joy and his actions were more out of necessity than charity. He didn't need a murder enquiry, especially with the blood spattered and staining on the soles of his boots!
When Tobias next awoke, he would find himself rather neatly bandaged and the blood reasonably staunched. The broken bones and bruising would still be there, but heh, it was something at least?
