Have you ever wondered where your money goes when you pay for things?

http://www.holysmoke.org/fem/fem0333.htm

That link has a list of places that donate to "Planned Parethood and Abortion." Now, I haven't done much research into this, so I'm not completely sure, but if you'd like to take a look, there's a list.

I warn you though, there are a lot of companies up there, big ones.

I've started boycotting them, and I'm writing letters to them to let them know why I'm boycotting them. I know that I won't do much to convince them, because I'm just one consumer, but I'd rather put my money into companies where I know it won't go to fund abortion. It's bad enough my taxes fund it.

I usually don't do boycotts unless it's somethign obvious. You never know what is owned by who *learned a few things from the list*.

But all the same...I actually don't shop at a lot of those stores and my family tends to go the generic route than the brand route. It's really not for any reason other than that there's another clothes/book/whatever store that's closer (and generics are cheaper and usually just as good) I used to shop at Waldenbooks but since I started working at Game Stop, I get a great discount at Barnes & Noble...so a lot of my book/music shopping is done there.

I always liked McDonald's over BKs. This seals the deal.

What? BK's supporting it? I helped run the machine??? crying

Honestly, though, I'm not so sure about boycotts of these places. I mean, yeah, I'm not going to go out of my way to give them money. And I might try to use less of their stuff. But it seems kind of like not being friends with someone because they are Pro-Choice, or because you found out they donate to Planned Parenthood.

If I knew which stores supported Pro-Life causes, now, I'd definitely go more out of my way to shop at them.

I think that when I move out I'm just going to go organic. No grocery store food for me. If I'm not supporting abortion I'm probably supporting the exploitation of children in some country and there's just no winning. -_-

Eventually I'll get dreadlocks and stop shaving, but we'll go one step at a time. xd

Damn, curse you people taking my money. They can at LEAST use it for a good cause like to help cancer or something stressed

I don't buy the food (my family does) but some of things I can't always avoid

Like some of the stores is all we have out here (not a very big town and we have to go to the next town just to get to them). I very dissapointed in some. Let them waste their own money for a evil cause (unless it's an emergency) but don't take mine you jerks!

Carl's jr. is specifically pro-life...the ceo has gotten lots of hate for that position.

Yes definately!

I prefer shopping at local craft stores for my hobbies...they usually have a lot of stuff you can't get in chain stores. PLUS there's the perk of supporting small businesses. I certianly have enjoyed working in a small independent retailers than large beuracratic chain stores. Shopping to help support something makes the experiance a little more enjoyable....and I'm actually not a big shopper (outside of crafts).

But things like banks and insurance are not as easy to switch around as cereal and clothing.

The only craft store I shop at is Micheals though the Joannes out here can be concider a craft and fabric store (the new one is huge. The old one didn't have much stuff but as I said it's not the biggest town out there so don't know how big others are). Oh reminds to pick up some stuff.

I don't like shopping (besides stuff I need and few books, movies,ect..),clothes i've been trying to make myself (always been picky about clothes, I have a style I like but hard to find).
