 Lucian was cleaning his knife in the stream. The blood dripped into the clear blue water, making dazzling and rather artistic designs before it ran clear again. Lucian was enjoying washing the blood clean for him....for now. He knew that soon enough, the hunger would hit and there would be more blood. Than and Lux were mercifully sleeping in the back of his mind, so for now he was alone. Able to do and feel as he liked. Sloshing around in the water he enjoyed himself. The freeing coolness of it was refreshing. Suddenly, his head shot up and the voices murmmerred as if trying to wake. But that was not what concerned him. Somewhere not far away was the sound of someone approaching...

 Nawat was not known for his poetic entrances, nor his concern for safety. The draft stallion considered himself to be large enough, and quick enough, that nothing that could sneak up on him could pose much danger. What he had forgotten of course, was that it was not others approaching him to be worried about, but what he was so gleefully stomping into. Today he had selected a large branch, stripped of its leaves, to swing about in front of himself. It made different drumming tones as it bounced off the ground, the trees, the rocks, even his own legs. It was soothing to him, but woefully stupid in unfamiliar territory. Bumbling on with his eyes closed he hardly noticed when he burst free from the forest and into view of the stream.

Lucian stood absolutely still, accessing the newcomer. He was taller, more muscled but that would not be an issue. He was obviously not wary, probably less quick. His large stick would be no much for a blade if it came down to it. Hopefully, it would not though....
The voices were waking in the back of his mind, stirring gently as if the sudden urge of discord had woken them. He soothed his fast beating heart and stared at the stranger a moment more before speaking. His voice was low, even. There was no inflection or fear in it, "Who are you?"

"Eh?" Nawat said as the branch fell from his mouth, bouncing awkwardly between the ground and his ankles. He nearly screamed when it did, but only let a long breath his out from between gritted teeth as he faced the origin of the question. "A stallion one ankle less a threat," he managed to laugh after a few moments, lifting the leg that got the brunt of the impact. This male hardly seemed the humorous type, but it might serve to lessen his tension. "Nawat Crow, formerly just Crow," he added, figuring he'd best name a name in case this other was not consoled by the prospect of his newly bruised leg.

Lucian was careful not to move very quickly or speak very loudly, so as not to wake the still dozing voices. "I am sorry that I surprised you," his voice was again low and even without any real emotion in it. "I am Lucian. What brings you here?"
Lucian accessed him, standing still where he was. He wasn't going to approach at the moment before knowing more. It was not a wise decision to do that, he knew that by both instinct and because of Karloff. His father had taught him well how to protect himself and to protect others from himself. Karloff understood, not as others understood, but as someone who felt the same darkness tugging at him.
