______________________Prologue: Heart of Sound__________

Vibrating Heart. A power that lies in the ability to create vibrations on whim. Originating in the birthplace of sound itself, Otogakure, the clan lived there for many years. Most became street performers, using their ability over vibration to create beautiful music. They lived in peace for many years but as their abilities came into light, along with their acute sense of hearing, those of the Otogakure council became fearful. The clan was then ordered to be killed on the belief of rebellion. Few survived the masacure and now, only a few remaining Shidoue are left roaming the Five Great Nations.

________________Chapter One: Heartstrings _________________

The day was dark and ominous, rainfall threaten to fall upon this small rural village on the outskirts of the Sound Village. A bad sign to most on such an important date. A fellow villager was to give birth to her first child, a baby girl. Rumors have it that that particular household was constantly bustling with sound, though never loud enough to disrupt the other villagers. Today though, they were louder than normal. Rain began to fall from the heavens in buckets and heavy winds blew through the village. A storm. Such a bad day to give birth but to the members of the household preparing to welcome their new addition to the family, it was perfect.

The beat of something constant sent mixed signals to their hearts but the two were more concern over their unborn's child's ability to pick up the sound vibrations. For unbeknownest to most of their fellow villages, this small household of two, soon to be three where of the Vibrating Heart bloodline. Their hearts where not their own but slaves to the Vibrations of Sound. The birth of Sindoue child is always risky as their heart relies on a beat to survive and as a child, they have still yet to learn how to pick a beat. All around numerous steady beats could be heard in hopes of aiding their child give life to herself. The clock stuck noon, and according to the midwife, the girl will soon make her way into this new world.

On the nightstand next to the bed, sat a metronome, ticking heavily away against the sound of the ever present rain and howling wind. The room was simply decorated, they were in the master bedroom to the back of the house and it was spucely furnished. There was a bed in the center of the left wall and two nightstands stood guarding it. A door to the ensuite was next to the door and and across from them was a decent size window, at the moment the blinds where up allowing for the rain to be seen. Across the bed was a dresser and to the corner was a bookcase, lamp and lounge chair.

On the large king size bed made of wood and cushioned with a swan feather matteress and pillows was a young woman of no more then 30, she had beautiful long midnight blue hair and the most stunning of charcoal eyes. As she laid there in pain and drenched in sweat, her husband sat deligently by her side. The man was slightly older than his life partner, he looked to be about 30, 33. He had dark aubrum hair and smoky gray eyes. In his hands was the petite sweaty hands of his wife. The contactions were shortening and the midwife says that at anytime, the two will have given birth their first child.

The process was long and agonizing but after much stuggle, a child was born, a beautiful baby girl. The the two parents felt their heart clench as they awaited a sign that she was alive. For a good minute or so, the child remaind still and just as they were about to give up hope, she stirred and released a soft cry. Large smiles graced their features as they held their baby daughter for the first time. Outside, the storm had cleared away for a beautiful clear night sky. Through the window, a beautiful full moon shown elegently against the dark blue sky. Glancing up at the moon and then at their child, they knew exactly the name to present to her. Misuki, beautiful moon.

_____________________Chapter 2: Strumming___________

In their simple one story house located at the edge of Oto, an energetic Misuki skipped her way merrily to her father's awaiting arms. Being a four year old, Misuki was still new to the world and as such, she was curious about everything around her. The things that fasinated her most though, was the outside world forbidden to her and her home that is filled with the vibration of numerous endless rhythmical beats. As she wrapped her petite arms around her father's legs, she nuzzled happily to the warmth and smiled gleefully when he wrapped his strong, secure arms around her small frame in return.

Giggling when she was brought onto his lap, Misuki stared quizzedly at the strange look on her father's face. It was one of uncertainty, and it worried Misuki but her thoughts were distracted soon enough as her beautiful mother made her way into the room with a small rose coloured box wrapped with a vibrent plum coloured ribbon. Clapping her arms excitedly, Misuki took the gift into her small hands, hugged it, smiled at both her parents and began unwrapping it as neatly as she could. Even at four, Misuki was already keeping in mind proper ediquette and the need for tidyness. She also had a thing for perfection and neatness so it would appear her habits were drilled into her as a child.

Her parents smiled happily at there excited little child but their eyes sill held anxiety. For four years they had kept their child from leaving the safety of their beat filled house but Misuki was a curious child and containing her any longer than neccessary will bring about a shy persona. Something which they wanted to avoid in a bright child like Misuki. So today, on her fourth birthday, they decided to present her with something that will give her life while on the outside.

Misuki smiled excitedly as she lifted the lid of the brown box underneath the rose coloured gift wrapping and upon laying eyes on the object inside, blinked in confusion. Looking up to her parents in confusion, Misuki asked in a sweet, melodic voice. "Mommy, Daddy, what's this?" Glancing at each other, the two Sindoue parents conversed with their eyes and in the end, Misuki's father decided to reply. Taking Misuki from his lap, he placed his daughter delicately onto the floor standing up. He then got down on one knee and placed a calloused hand on Misuki's right shoulder. Through the whole exchange, Misuki had grown more and more confused and as she stared into the eyes of her father, wondered if she had done something wrong.

Releasing a sigh, he finally spoke in a solem voice, "Listen carefully to me my Misuki, darling moonlight, this device, it'll help you live while you explore the outside world. Know that you are unlike the rest Suki, you, as well as your mother and I...we require listening to sound in order to live. Your heart," Raising his left hand, he placed it over his heart as to show Misuki. "is not your own. Vibrations are our master and they are what keeps us alive. So promise me sweetie. Whenever you wish to venture out of this house, away from you mother and I, wear this. All you'll have to do is infuse it with chakra like we've shown you before and it'll work. Remember Misuki, this will let you live." Of course at four, Misuki only understood a bit of her father's speech but like the obedient child she was, she made the promise. It would be a week before Misuki ventured out to the world and it would be years later before she would finally come to terms with the importance of her father's words...

_______________Chapter Three: Condescending Chords ________________

Little Misuki could be what most consider naive and sheltered. Her parents were always careful to make sure their little girl's heart never stopped beating. Even with her sound device tucked securely next to her, they would always keep an additional beat playing throughout every room of the house. If Misuki was to ever leave their sight, they would secretly follow unless they themselves were too preoccupied. In which, a clone will be sent in their place. Her survival was of the highest priority and her parents spared no expense to make sure their baby girl had everything she would ever need. Little Misuki grew up oblivious, she knew nothing of the harsh shinobi world that resided outside of their peaceful village and it was obvious her parents had no intention of ever letting her know about it...

Misuki turned 5 today. It would also be her tenth time out of the house, she’d counted. Wax headphones in their rightful place in her ears, Misuki turned on her device so that it would play a steady metronome like beat. The tempo would be around 80. Skipping merrily out the door, Misuki waved goodbye to her parents before taking off to the miniature park where all the other kids spent their time playing. At five, Misuki already had a sense of responsibility. She always felt the need to assist others and that made her especially prone to playing with the younger children. From the shadows, the wary eyes of her mother expertly followed her actions, in order to make sure her life will not be at risk. Reaching the sandpit, Misuki was playing in the makeshift park; Misuki's smile widened as she spotted some familiar kids and ran over to play with them. For the most part, Misuki had an uneventful day. She spent the afternoon with the younger children, making sure they didn't hurt themselves and were sharing. Simple stuff like that. It was as she prepared to leave that the problem happened. In every village, there's bound to be as set of rebellious kids and today the ‘rebellious’ or ‘bullies’ decided to pick on Misuki and the little kids as they played in the sandpit. The three of them were around 7 or 8 years of age and having been bored out of their minds, decided to intrude on the party of 4. The kids ran right through their sandcastle successfully destroying all their hard work. Unable to just remain quiet about their disturbance, Misuki stood up with a huff and began yelling at them to apologize and help them fix it. Of course being ‘older’ and ‘bullies’, they were not one to listen to someone younger than them. So of course, acting arrogant, the boys began to push Misuki around and though she tried to fight back, she was still petite and frail. Eventually though, Misuki found an opening and dashing forward, was about to escape but one of the boys tripped her and she fell. As she clashed with the ground, her ear pieces fell as well, causing silence to fill the space. That moment marked the first time Misuki’s heart froze. From the second she felt herself hit the ground; Misuki would take in one more breath, only to find everything stuck. She couldn’t breathe, her muscles where tense, and she couldn’t speak…the sounds of kids screaming and the sounds of running where all Misuki could register before blacking out. Her mother, who had been carefully watching till now, had been momentarily distracted by a robbery in a nearby store but the sounds of frantic children, brought her attention back to the group. If possible, her mother could have felt her heart stop at the sight but it wasn’t, but either way, all her mother could think of at the moment was getting to her child and saving her. Reaching her unconscious child, her mother quickly replaced the ear plugs to her daughter’s ears and infused it with chakra. Praying hard, her mother stared teary eyed at her child who now continued to lay unconscious and unmoving in her arms. The other kids had already fallen silent and wondered if this was it…a minute of waiting and her mother was about to give in when Misuki suddenly took in a big gasp and her eyes reopened. Today was her 5th birthday, and it marked the day she almost reached death’s door…

A silent room, an old grandfather clock ticking away across from her…Misuki sat alone and mute on an old rusty oak dining chair. Knees tucked in close, Misuki wrapped her tiny arms around them as she rested her head on her knees. It was 11:57 and both of her parents were asleep. But for Misuki, this last hour had and will mark, the end of a year and the start another. For some reason or another, Misuki suddenly found herself awake an hour before the stroke of midnight and she just couldn’t get back to sleep. So here she was now, 2 minutes before midnight, alone and breathing…’Its been a year since then huh…’ Almost a year ago, on the day this night will turn into, Misuki faced death…she was in a place void of all light, void of all sound…all she could recall was an endless black space with no source of escape. ‘A dark and lonely confinement…’ After wandering around in the dark, Misuki was suddenly met with a old, rustic steal gate…behind it, dark cloud of mist and soft hissing noises erupted through. It creped Misuki out but for some reason, it intrigued her as well. Just as she reached out for it though…she heard the sound of a metronome pierce through the darkness and suddenly, Misuki was staring into the worried and teary eyes of her mother. *ding**ding**ding* *dong* *ding* *ding* *ding* *dong* ’Huh?’ Pulled awake from her thoughts, Misuki blinked several times before glancing up at the clock. Both handles of the grandfather clock where now together and covering the 12, it was now the stroke of midnight and face passive, Misuki opened her mouth to utter a simple phrase…“Happy 6th Birthday, to me…”

August 31, another year, another birthday. Somehow, Misuki would always find herself awake sometime before the stroke of midnight on this day. That event still haunts the now turned seven year old girl but it was something she will never reveal to her parents though. Outside the rain was falling in a rhythmic pattern and Misuki found her eyelids slowly getting heavier and heavier. The sounds of the rain pattering against the window were all but a soft melody to help lure her to sleep. ‘I should get going to bed…*Bang* *Thump* Jumping slightly in her chair, Misuki was jolted awake by the loud bang and thump sound coming from the front door. Scared, Misuki made a mad dash towards her parent’s bedroom filled with a ticking metronome and shook them awake. At first they panicked thinking something had happened to Misuki but once they learned of the situation, they became even more cautious. Not wanting to frighten their daughter though, her parents brought her out to the front with them. At that time, Misuki was too young and too fearful to understand why her mother hugged her as protectively as she did that night. To the obvious Misuki at the time, it was an act of comfort but in reality, it was an act of concern. With her father in front, the family of three soon reached the front door and slowly opening the door, her father was ready for an attack but instead; saw an injured man lying unconscious at their doorstep. Quickly relaxing, Misuki’s parents assisted the man into a guest room after setting her back down on the ground. Trailing her parents, Misuki could only glow with pride that her parents were such kind and considerate people. Within a week the man was better and within a month became an honorary member of the family. Misuki really trusted the man and he was like an uncle to her. When Misuki found herself in a situation she couldn’t go to her parents, he was the one she could turn to. He easily worked his way into their lives and he will just as easily slip out…at the time though, the small family of three were too trusting and kind to doubt a traveling merchant injured after being robbed of his belongings…
