The capital city of the Xun Chang lands, Hengmeng Youshi, is an old city, built and prosperous well before the time of Empress Long Meng. Since that time, and in the centuries since, it has only grown, because Hengmeng Youshi calls to it people of innovation and progress. At this point, it can easily take the better part of two weeks to cross the city on foot, and as the city is still growing, many Long choose to learn teleportation spells early in life. However, for those who prefer the walk, inns are scattered throughout the city, to ensure that couriers and messengers can get to where they need to be safely. For the rich, portals have been erected at key spots in the city, allowing teleportation without the resultant drain on personal energies.
Hengmeng Youshi is a sprawling city built up around a large castle made of dark brown marbles veined with gold. The result offers a rich, shimmering earthiness that dazzles in the light of day. The castle itself houses the royal family of the Xun Chang, all rumored to be wise and powerful leaders. However, in nearly three hundred years, few have seen any hint of them beyond proclamations sent down to their subjects. It is rare for a common subject, however, to even consider this state of affairs, as the more pressing concerns of their day-to-day lives take up most of their focus.
About week's walk outside of the twisting streets and buildings that mark the core of Hengmeng Youshi, the land is still filled with a scattering of buildings, farms, and inns, and at the edge of these outskirts sit a small but well-kept dim sum shop known as the Wei Kun Lian that caters to the immediate area and travelers alike.
