Ak-kila walked out of the temple with slight irritation. She never had the patience to deal with lessons. The sun was setting by the time she left lesson. She wandered away from the temple and looked around for something to do. Being bored was almost as bad as sitting threw lessons, in Ak-kila opinion. She hoped that there was an adult that she could follow around. By the looks of it there was a lack of adults around for her to follow.

She let out a sighed. Today must be one of those boring days, she thought. Days liked this always made her wish there were more excitement.

As she walked she realized that, instead of waiting for adventure to find her she should just go out and find it herself! She grinned with mischief and darted away quickly. A lot of adults went on adventures and because she is mature, like adults, Ak-kila felt the need to go on an adventure. She thought about the impressed faces of the adults in the pride. The thought made her run even quicker.

Suddenly she came to a stop. 'How stupid am I? I haven't even decided what my adventure should be!' she thought to herself angrily. Slowly she started walking back to the temple. Hoping that something would inspire her adventure.

User Image Amitab was disappointed that her lessons were over already - the pale juvenile loved learning and soaked up as much knowledg3e as she was granted. That didn't mean that she disliked having fun, however, and now that lessons were over she could let herself relax - and perhaps find one of her littermates to pester.

That was always fun to do!

She wandered around for a little while but couldn't find anyone that she felt like interacting with. At least, not until she spotted Ak-kila. Inventing a new game on the spot, she decided the shadow her sister and try to stay undetected for as long as possible. She was a great stalker; Ak-kila would never know she was there, at least until it was too late!

...Not that she really had any idea of what 'too late' could mean. She wasn't sure yet if she would pounce on her sister, or just continue to follow her until she did something interesting, or something that she hadn't thought of yet. Nevertheless, Amitab had enough of a goal to know that she wanted to stalk Ak-kila, not that she had the patience to go undiscovered for vry long.

But maybe Ak-kila would do something interesting and they could have fun together - that would be just as nice, really.

Ak-kila was about to give up and go back to the temple when she saw a scorpion. Her eyes filled with excitement. She had seen older lions hunting them, seeing who was the bravest out of them. Ak-kila was not brave, however she was interested in why other lions found the scorpions so interesting. Keeping her distance she stalked the scorpion, not realizing that she herself had a follower.

She wondered what was so scary about them, letting the distance between her and the scorpion grow. If older lions used them to test their courage than there was something about them. The scorpion started to turn around, so Ak-kila hurriedly hid behind a grass bush, hoping the scorpion wouldn't notice her. When she darted she thought that she saw the light color of fur, though she decided she was just seeing things and went back to watching the scorpion.

Quietly she continued stalking it until it started to burry into the ground. She watched in horror as it dug. If she didn't act fast the scorpion would be long gone and she would never discover why the scorpions were so fascinating. She went to where the scorpion was and started to dig into the ground. At first she dug carefully, not wanting to hurt the scorpion. However she lost her patients and started digging quicker.

What was Ak-kila doing? Amitab wasn't certain, but it didn't look like a very safe thing, somehow... Creeping ever closer, the pale juvenile snuck up behind her sister and tried to stay silent... at least until she was close enough. When she judged that she couldn't get closer without either a.) touching Ak-Kila or b.) giving herself away, she crouched down as low as she dared, then pounced to land right next to her sister.

"What are you doing?" she asked, green eyes sparkling. "Is there something down there?" She wrinkled her nose and peered down at the hole. "Are you sure you should be digging? What if there's something dangerous down there?"

'Is is that it?' She asked herself as she thought she saw the scorpion. She couldn't believe how close she was now. Soon she could brag to the others that she had caught a scorpion! As she was just about to pull it out she was distracted by her sister.

She wasn't expecting anyone and she was sure she was alone. When Amitab landed next to her, she couldn't help but jump out of fright. She even let out a loud squeal.

It took a moment for her to gain back her composure, but by that time the scorpion had scurried out of site. Ak-kila turned toward Amitab. "I found a scorpion that I wanted to catch and I would have if someone didn't distract me," she said, not bothering answering Amitab's other questions.

"Well, what if it was dangerous and you got hurt? That wouldn't have been good either," Amitab said, scowling at her darker colored sister and lashing her tail - she didn't like being accused of ruining her sister's fun, not when, in her mind, she was just curious and trying to help. "What would you have done with it if you'd caught it anyway?" she asked, turning to pace around Ak-kila, feeling rather put out now.

What was Ak-kila thinking when she's done that? Wouldn't that have gotten her hurt? Amitab wasn't sure - maybe if she had seen a vision or something about what th scorpion might have done she could feel better about having interfered in Ak-kila's adventure... but she hadn't, she hadn't even known what was going on.

Ugh, this was shaping up to be unpleasant.

"It was dangerous, but I see the older lions doing it so I thought since I am such a mature lioness that I should be able to do it," Ak-kila said with her stuck up voice. She hated when others told her what to do and what not to do. She was old enough to know what was safe and what wasn't! "Anyways I wouldn't have gotten hurt because adults never get hurt. They are too strong."

Why didn't her sister understand her? She let out a sigh. Maybe she should turn back and go back to the pride. She shook her head. How could she return without a scorpion! This was her chance to prove herself, to show everyone in the pride how mature she really was! She would catch one and prove that she was mature!

As she thought about her plan, she couldn't help but think about how she should answer her sisters last question. "Well, when I catch it I probably will take it back to the pride and show it off. Once I am done with that I might keep it as a pet," she answered after thinking about it. She always wanted a pet and it would be like her very own cub, but a little bit more dangerous.

A pet? Amitab would have laughed at her sister if she wasn't a little worried for her sanity. She didn't need to See anything to know that a scorpion as a pet would be a horrible idea, at least in her mind. It didn't seem very mature, either, but then again Amitab just wasn't impressed with the idea in general. She rolled her eyes and stamped a paw against the sand, flicking her tail a bit.

"A pet? Are you crazy, Ak-kila? Even if it doesn't hurt you, what about a cub?" Ugh, were all of her siblings idiots? Or just reckless and overconfident? Wait, was there even a difference? The white female wasn't sure - what she was sure of was that she wanted to have no part in this... and yet, she wasn't entirely sure she could just abandon her sister to her own silly plan. What if she got hurt or something, and no-one found her until it was too late because Amitab had left?

No, she couldn't really leave. But she could back away, and watch from a safer distance. That was a good plan. Having made up her mind relatively quickly, Amitab backed away to her chosen spot to watch whatever was going to happen. "Fine, do what you want. I'm here so they know where to find you when you get hurt!"

Ak-kila stared at her sister blankly. She couldn't see a reason why having a scorpion as a pet would be bad. “If a cub were to get hurt by my scorpion it would be the cub's fault for getting too close to my scorpion. The cub should know how dangerous scorpions are.” She retorted. When she was a cub she was bright enough to know that only older lions should play with scorpions and that they were only dangerous to cubs.

Now her sister wanted to stay. Great. She would only end up scarring the scorpion. It would be useless to try and get it now, unless, unless she was able to get rid of her sister long enough to find her scorpion and capture it. Perfect! “Amitab we should play a game instead! I'm bored trying to capture my scorpion. Why don't we play hide and seek? Wouldn't that be fun?” She tried sounding younger, more cub like. As much as she hated it, she knew it would be difficult to capture her scorpion with Amitab around. “It will be like old times! Back when we were cubs!”

"No, I think I'd rather stay here and watch," Amitab said, flicking her tail a little. "I'll be quiet, and I doubt your pet will even know I'm here." She tossed her head, her soft yellow tuft bouncing with the movement, and stretched out her paws slowly, one at a time. "I'm not a newborn cub, Ak-Kila, I don't play tiny cub games any more than you do." Like she was ever going to leave her sister alone while she was doing something crazy like this! No, Amitab had no plans to leave, not unless her sister actively ran her off...

Which probably could happen, but Amitab wasn't going to let herself believe that. Her pride was at stake here! She wasn't going to play a stupid cub's game, especially not when the show here was about to get very, very interesting.

Ak-kila huffed. "Fine than," she went back to her digging, keeping Amitab in the corner of her eye. She was determined to find the scorpion even if her sister was getting in the way. Than she saw it. The scorpion. "Amitab look at it! I found it I found it!" She said gleefully. Now the hard part was to catch it.

She tried to pick it up between her paws, but it tried to strike her. Hm, she thought, this scorpions going to be tougher than I thought. Then she had an idea. Taking in a deep breathe she let out a squeaky roar. She was hoping to paralyze the scorpion with fear, but it didn't work. She went back to trying to pick it up, but it just kept trying to attack her. "Amitab, this is harder than I thought," she whined.
