Her bag was packed, Precious was in her cage, a hat was firmly on her head, and her two Celestial wolves were in tow behind her. This was as ready as Shehk would be. Another check of the ticket, another look at the train station.

Another sigh.

Shehk slowly climbed up onto the stairs to look across the platform. She wasn't the only one here. There were a few other students who were retreating early, but the only one she cared about was the one sitting halfway down the platform from her. Shehk recognized that head of red hair anywhere.

She walked towards it, taking up a seat next to the Zombie ghoul, reaching over to fluff her hair gently. She didn't want to rip that lovely lock of hair right back out again after how much it had hurt to come out to begin with!

"Well. Today is the day." she said, sighing, setting her suitcase down. Hati walked over and put her head in the Zombie ghoul's lap, tail wagging a bit. Pet me pet me pet me?

In some ways, Sammy was jealous of all the students milling about, going home to proper families. Lately it was nagging at her. From Jingleberry mentioning his mother, to Siddie's stories of her family, even to Shehk returning to her sire. All of it made Sammy feel like she was missing something in her unlife.

Still today wasn't the day to dwell on that. She sat alone on a bench waiting for a train that would take her first friend away from the school for ten weeks. It was going to be odd not having Shehk around.

Staring at her phone it wasn't till Shehk plopped down beside her ruffling her hair carefully that she looked up, "Yup, ten weeks of no school, less Mini's." Ten week's a part of my life will just vanish. Her left hand would reach over to scratch gently behind Hati's ears as she tried to think of what to say. She had three days to think about it yet nothing came to mind.

"I really wish you wern't going.. I mean, it's selfish, but I'm really going to miss having you around Shehk." She smiled softly as she continued to scratch Hati's ear. "You were my first friend here so it's kinda weird saying goodbye like this even if it is only for a few months."

Shehk sighed, idly petting Skoll as he put his own head on her knee. Hati seemed to thrive on the familiar face looking at her. Like the normalcy would save her from everything that was going to come over the next 10 weeks.

It was going to be long.

Shehk knew it was going to feel like forever.

"I'll call if I can get a chance once I'm there. I'll write, at the very least." she promised, sighing once, then reached through the bars of Precious's cage to pet the Corrividus. Precious simply preened at her. The bird would be content until she got onto the train. That much she knew.

"Yeah. I feel a bit...selfish. I've surrounded myself with people who are doing nothing but being supportive..and now I'm leaving all of you guys. I've been..." she laughed a bit, "throwing fits in public over stupid things. I think the change of scenery will help."

There was a long moment of silence, Hati preened more under Sammy's touch.

"I'll miss you. If I didn't need to take this leap by myself, I'd bring you with me." She looked at the other ghoul earnestly.

"I hope you can, letters take forever to get around, at least with a call if something happened I'll know rather then waiting forever between messages," she said with a sigh, her eyes lingering on the flopped Hati head on her lap.

"You've got a lot of friends, if you didn't go no one would think any less of you, the guy sounds kinda like a creep as is. You could just go take a trip somewhere closer to town maybe." Her own smile was weak when Shehk laughed at her own antics. "Eh, it's not stupid, not all of it, maybe a little, but it's not stupid if it really meant that much to you. If well, he did." She trailed off again, he being Nuk was probably a very touchy subject still and she instantly regretted bringing it up.

For a while the only sound was people milling about and the mini's preening, it was one of the longest silences Sammy could recall lately. Like ten weeks packed into the space of a minute.

"You don't have to do this, alone, really...." slowly Sammy would reach over with her right hand giving Shehk's a squeeze. "You were my first friend here, I'd do anything for you Shehk." She paused glancing at her hand atop Shehk's and shrugged a bit, "But I guess if I really mean that I won't stop you from getting on that train in the long run."

Shehk sighed.

"I have to do this, Sammy. I need to go away and know that I have to face whatever comes at me somehow without having the ability to retreat from it. I need to know I have to stand on my own." She really had nothing to lose...except everything. But she wasn't going to do that..right?

Right?

A concerned crinkle formed on Shehk's face.

"Well. Either way, I'll attempt to get in at least a call if I can help it." she said, scratching the back of her head. "I'll get you a proper addresss when I can too.." in case you have to come save me..... Shehk didn't like thinking she still was going to fall back like that, but she was going to do it. She was going to take this leap.

She had to.

For herself.

"Perspective will clear my head. And if I can stop seeing things that remind me of nothing but him, then maybe I can get past all of this and I'll come back next year ready to rock the world again."

Shehk squeezed Sammy's hand back.

"I appreciate you being here to see me off, though."

Sammy's face sank ever so slightly as Shehk spoke, her head bobing in a slow nod.

"Yeah, I know I just wish, somehow you didn't? Wishfull thinking ain't it?" She smiled softly again. "You'll make it, I know you will. Even if it sucks the whole time you wouldn't give up that easily."

She wouldn't, she couldn't, Sammy wouldn't let her. How she would help though was beyond her. After this, well, Shehk was on her own for the most part.

"The sooner the better, I don't want to be waiting half of break to get a letter from you. That would drive me up a wall." Again silence lingered, the topic of the skinwalker coming up again. "Yeah, I can't deny that's probably the best part of this idea. Hopefully that at least works out right?" Either that or Sammy would beat the crap out of nuk till Shehk felt better.

When the squeeze was returned Sammy's cold dead heart could have almost fluttered, maybe it did, she was never sure with this body what was really going on inside it.

"You know I wouldn't leave you here alone, I promised I'd be here. I'm here. It's what a friend does." She smiled softly, "That or give them a chunk of your hair to make you feel better about yourself." Slowly she glanced at the clock counting down time till the train would arrive it was too soon, she didn't want to say goodbye yet. Just a little longer?

Shehk smiled. "Now you will possess a part of me forever." she mused, ruffling Sammy's hair gently. Skoll laid down, panting a bit as he watched the tracks. Hati moved over to sit next to him. There was another awkward silence.

"Hey Sammy? When you get a chance for it, will you get Nuk Jr. out of the closet subspace for me? I....don't think I'll actually get a chance to get him when I get to Sire's house, so I'd like him to get some love while I'm away." Even if he was named after a horrible person. "And if he 'accidentally' gets out and bites Nuk, give him a treat for me too."

She laughed.

It really did feel like every minute was ticking by far too quickly. So quick.

Too quick.

"Alas you lack a part of me to make it a fair trade." She said with a smile reaching up to give Shehk's ear a scratch on the good side of her head. Brief, polite, and hopefully no where near her healing spot.

"Eh? Yeah... yeah I can do that. I'll bring Ixxy along to play with him a bit so he isn't too lonely. You want me to just keep him in the room and make sure he's fed while your out?" She smirked softly at the next set of instructions, "Maybe, if I see him during a walk I won't exactly say no if he tries too."

Again the silence fell on them, time slowly moving, yet quickly all the same.

"Shehk I said some things, while we where at Mal's... about you and I, and well, Nuk..." It had nagged at her since they met, it clawed at her as she dated Nuk, and for a while she pushed it aside, but Nuk was out of the picture, and well. Maybe it was time to get some closure before she was left waiting for weeks on end to get a letter.

Shehk smiled a bit at the familiar ear-scratching gesture, leaning into the hand that gave such nice things. Oh..oh niceness. Wag wag, thump thump, happy faces. Oh, happy...happy faces.

"Yeah, my room, your room. Just..let him stretch his legs. Because I don't think he'll get out for ten weeks if I don't have someone check on him." she said, nodding once, before she leaned back in her seat and again looked towards where the train would be coming from, her ears erect. She..couldn't truly hear anything. There were at least 10 more minutes for the two to talk. She had some security in that.

There was a pause, but Shehk found herself suddenly in a new awkward situation.

"We said a lot of things at a long of times in a lot of places these last couple of weeks, Sam. I know I've said a lot of angry and nasty things myself. Maybe too many of them."
PostPosted: Mon Jun 27, 2011 7:51 pm

It was those small gestures between friends repeated over and over again that made everything seem okay, The way Shehk smiled, the twitch in her ears and the thump of her tail. Like nothing at all was wrong so long as someone gave her a little scratch behind the ear.

"Yeah I'll figure something out then. I have the time Jack knows I do being here the whole break." Glancing with Shehk she couldn't see any sign more then Shehk could hear one regarding the train. Though the time was ticking down on the clock above the station clock.

"Yeah, we have..." She frowned softly, "You might have, you might not, but Shehk, you never said anything to hurt me. Ever. The only reason I would be upset is because your unhappy." Again that single hand was placed over Shehk's this time something slightly different about it. "Shehk.. I meant what I said back then, I really do like you, a lot. I just, I never knew how much you cared, and I knew you liked Nuk, even if it took you forever to admit it, and even then he just turned out to be a jerk... but I was glad you where happy with him..." Her voice trailed off, she was rambling at this point. She waited to see what Shehk would do next, she wouldn't blame the ghoul if she suddenly shied away from her.

Shehk sighed. This conversation. It was probably about time she had to face this talk, and it was...well...it was going to be something interesting to talk about. The pricolici didn't respond for several minutes, obviously thinking about what it was she thought about the entire ordeal.

She sighed again.

"I'm going to be honest, Sammy. I...can't say what could have been or what could possibly be in the future. I made a point of giving Nuk a hard time. I know I've said it a lot, but I wanted to make sure he knew what he was getting into.But.... well..it seemed like my assumptions about him were wrong. I...just don't know. I think this is a case of 'the first cut is the deepest'."

Shehk again looked to see if she could see the train approaching.

"I can't account for the future because...well..." The pricolici seemed a bit concerned about the thoughts she was mulling over in her head. "A lot of things are in store for me. I don't know what they will be."

There was another sigh as she slumped.

" With everything that has happened, and what will happen...there will be changed in me. I hope I’m not a completely different person when I come back."

Yep that talk. The one Sammy was afraid to ever bring up for fear of sending her friend running away from her, but what better time to bring it up then when she was leaving? When they would be apart and able to deal with everything they needed to sort out.

"I'd rather you be honest then ever have to lie to me Shehk..."She braced for what would be next, and surprisingly it wasn't that harsh. Neither of them could have said what might have happened back then. Maybe Shehk would have held out against her, maybe she would have lost interest, or maybe it could have worked. It was too late now to know. "It's always... hard I guess, the first time for anyone."

Again the silence loomed and Sammy felt her heart almost beat in her chest, stupid dead thing, it tore her apart it was dead but that didn't stop those feelings everyone linked to the blood shoving organ.

"Well what ever the future is, I'll be here, I always will be." She paused smiling a bit, "Not like I have any other places to go really." When Shehk slumped Sammy leaned in a bit closer putting a hand on her shoulder.

"Hey, look at me Shehk, look at me really." When she finally did Sammy had what had to be one of the softest looks she had ever given her.

"I mean it Shehk, no matter what changes, I'll always be here, I just want to know your happy with whatever it is you do." She wanted to do more, so much more, but Siddie, and what Shehk had gone through, it wouldn't be right really.

Shehk had been enjoying looking at the tracks. Looking at other people was awkward and painful. A part of her may have just been ready for that train to show up and let her go. Ready go. Go go go.She was anxious.

She wanted to get it over with. However, the pricolici sighed, then made herself look up at the zombie ghoul, smiling a bit, before she leaned her head against Sammy's shoulder, tail wagging.

"Well... we'll see how things go." the pricolici said, stretching out and half lounging over the seat. She could hear the train's howl now. It was getting closer.

Her doomsday was approaching.
PostPosted: Tue Jun 28, 2011 6:57 am

She could hear it, the train was rolling in, steam and pistons clunking and hissing as it rolled along, time was running short now more then ever.

When Shehk finally did look, and lean over it made a part of Sammy's heart melt just a bit. She wrapped her arms around the pricolici in a hug as they sat, Shehk sprawled out trying to relax, and Sammy getting in the last and longest hug she would give Shehk for a while.

"Yeah, I guess we will huh?" With nothing more to say, Sammy grew quiet, waiting to see the train that would take her friend away and all the change it may bring.

Shehk leaned into that hug, her tail thumping weakly against the chair she sat on. She listened as that train grew closer and closer before she finally forced herself to get up, the train letting out a hiss like some sort of monstrous beast she was about to crawl into the belly of.

She looked at her ticket, and then at the ghastly skeleton of a man who seemed to be waiting for her to board. Shehk forced herself to get up, picking up her suitcase and pulling Sammy into one last one-armed hug. She didn't want to go. Another letter that set itself on fire when she opened it probably would have been sent if she put it off, however, and Shehk forced herself to pull away from the other ghoul.

Picking up Precious's cage, Shehk took a long moment in watching Sammy, seeming to think of something to say before she just sighed. She had nothing.

She couldn't even muster up a 'Bye' before she climbed up into that car.

It would be the last time anybody saw the girl who called herself Shehk Strigoi.
