This is pretty much my entry from the FS (originally for Snivy) with the Pokemon species changed. I would really like to use the stuff I came up with for something in this shop because I liked the entire personality and history. Always looking to improve, though, so please crit me!

Species or number: Tangela

Character Name: Briony

Nature: Calm

Ability: Leaf Guard

Skill Set:
- Constrict
- Stun Spore
- Energy Ball
- Power Whip

Personality:
Calm
This Pokemon's nature has quite a lot to do with his personality as well. Though the life of a Pokemon can be dangerous and full of surprises, Briony always takes whatever comes at him with a calm face. Though he might be roiling with emotions on the inside, outwardly it doesn't usually seem like it. If he's mad about something, or at someone, he's much more likely to plot and plan what he's going to do about it than immediately fly off the handle and yell.

Intelligent
Briony has seen a lot of the world while traveling with his trainer, and he's learned a lot on the way. Though most of it is more practical knowledge, such as which moves are better to use against different types of Pokemon, he's almost frightfully quick to pick such things up. Among his trainer's team, he was definitely the smartest Pokemon, though he's not usually one to advertise it. He'd never flat-out say that he's smart, but it's fairly obvious to anyone who's around him for a decent amount of time.

Curious
Hand in hand with his intelligence, Briony is always up for a trip or an adventure that means he'll learn more about the world around him. If Pokemon had libraries and ways of studying without going out into the world, things might have been different for him. But as it is, he's perfectly willing and eager to travel more and seek out new knowledge, particularly about plants. Being a Grass-type Pokemon, other sorts of plants have always fascinated him, and his trainer actually used to carry around a binder full of pressed plants and flowers that he found and brought to her over the course of their travels.

Loyal
Once Briony has decided that you're his friend, you're his friend for life. Same goes with romantic interests, should he ever have any. About the only way to break said friendship would be to seriously compromise his trust in you somehow. He'd do just about anything for a friend, if he was asked, including things that go against his basic beliefs and nature.

Possessive
The other side of the loyalty coin, for Briony, is a possessive streak a mile wide. If you're his friend, you are HIS friend (or love-interest), and no one else's, dammit. It's extremely easy for him to get jealous of friends-of-friends, even to the extent of attempting to break up a friendship that gets too involved - to his mind. This is one of those things that a friend of his would have to notice and tell him not to do, or there could be some major trouble. At that point, it's a very good thing that he is so very loyal to his friends, because as much as it bothered him, he would back off then.

Sensitive
Though usually confident in his own abilities, if something comes up where he's shown up, or criticized (even if said criticism isn't entirely true), this always hits Briony hard. He'll sometimes even retreat into a sort of shell for anywhere from a few hours to a few days. During this time of withdrawal, he'll spend much of his time and energy examining and re-examining himself and/or the situation to try and figure out what and where he went wrong so it NEVER happens again. Because he doesn't want to be looked down upon for some failure in his personality or actions.

Strengths: Briony is a very down-to-Earth sort of Pokemon. He's calm in most situations, making him something of a natural leader. His ability to examine all the facts of a situation and navigate his way through them to a solution generally inspired confidence in others. Though not incredibly strong, he does possess a sort of flexible strength, able to take and dish out physical damage when need-be, though much of his current skill set relies on other abilities. He is an extremely loyal friend, and will protect those he considers to be 'his' with all of his power.

Weaknesses: On the flip side of his loyalty, it is very easy for Briony to get jealous of other people his friends interact with. This can cause him to become somewhat irrational at times when it comes to his friends. Underneath his calm and confident exterior, there are also times when Briony is very unsure of himself, especially when criticized by others. He possesses an almost obsessive desire to better himself so that he can't be criticized again, at least not for the same thing. This can sometimes cause him to be distracted or distant to those around him.

History:
Like many Pokemon, much of Briony's life was shaped by that of his trainer. He was chosen by a particular trainer as a 'starting' Pokemon, given to the young trainer by a Professor who lived in the same town and wanted the trainer to help him complete the Pokedex. They went on many adventures together, and they lived happily ever after. Right? WRONG.

Though Briony was a trainer's first Pokemon, it didn't happen quite like that. His trainer's parents were somewhat famous trainers themselves once upon a time and decided that their child would be just as famous one day. So they took it upon themselves to raise their young daughter surrounded by Pokemon toys, books, bedsheets, clothing, and of course the creatures themselves. However, since they wanted their daughter to be the most amazing trainer ever, the Pokemon they kept around her were all very large and dangerous fully-evolved Pokemon. They were well-trained and would never hurt the child, but that didn't matter. To her, they were SCARY. So when her parents eventually told her that she could choose her first Pokemon and presented her with several choices from among their own Pokemon, she told them she had to think about it. Then she ran out into the garden to hide her tears. She didn't want to be a trainer like that, she didn't care about battles or being famous or any of that.

But in the garden that day, she happened to spot a Pokemon unlike those of her parents. It was small, cute in a way, and very calm as it waddled about on two legs, peering here and there at the plants as vines waved about gently. This, of course, was Briony. He'd been born nearby, actually, in the wild like most Pokemon. But he quickly decided that the wilds were too dangerous a place for a small creature such as he. So, he set out to sneak into the city, where it would be safer, and probably more interesting. It was in wandering about the city that Briony first discovered gardens, areas where humans had taken plants out of the wild and put them into neat rows and other arrangements, encouraging them to grow. The little Pokemon was absolutely fascinated by the idea. To his mind, it was a little bit like what trainers did with Pokemon. They took them out of the wild, cultivated and trained them, helped them to become stronger and better. Of course, there were some trainers who were cruel about it, but it was still basically the same idea.

By the time Briony found himself in his own soon-to-be trainer's garden, he had been in the city for several months, and learned a lot about humans and their day-to-day lives, though there was a lot of it he didn't quite understand. Why in the world were they always in such a hurry for one thing? They'd get to wherever they were going eventually anyway, right? And why did they enter those squareish structures and then never come out for hours at a time? Yes, the structures were nice for when it was cold, or raining ... and perhaps what they did within was important. But the outdoors had to be so much nicer than being cooped up like that the rest of the time!

When the little girl encountered Briony in that garden, she approached him slowly and then simply asked softly if he would be her friend. Briony, young himself, sensed the loneliness in the girl and agreed almost instantly. Here was his chance to see more of the human world, and that of the wilder world he had been born into. Traveling with a human as his trainer would certainly be safer than being out there on his own. And she could likely take him to see other gardens in other human cities! His trainer was his first real friend, and Briony found that he loved having a friend to travel with and talk to, even if she couldn't understand him.

Predictably, his trainer's parents were NOT happy with the girl's choice, but at least she had a Pokemon now. And so they sent her out into the world to begin her journey.

Though she caught more Pokemon after that, Briony was always her first, and her favorite - because he was also her best friend. Though there were some rough times when the girl started to catch other Pokemon (Briony at one point attempted to open all the rest of her Pokeballs to free their occupants so he could be her only friend), things went more or less smoothly for them. When it was time for him to evolve, the girl prevented him from doing so, and because of their strong bond, he was all right with that. She'd told him about her parents' Pokemon and how much their large, evolved forms scared her as a child, so he didn't truly mind never growing into other forms, for her sake. The girl never became as famous as her parents, but she was known and well-liked in many different places around the world because of her friendly and outgoing nature. She wrote letters to her parents and phoned them from time to time, but it was very clear that they didn't approve of her choices in life, and she rarely went home for visits because the atmosphere was far too tense there.

However, tragedy was soon to strike. While traveling through a region known for dangerous Pokemon, she was attacked by a high-level, and very poisonous, Seviper. Whilst Briony and her other Pokemon were trapped in their Pokeballs, she slowly sickened and died, despite another trainer finding her and getting her to the hospital but moments later. Her grieving parents, only now realizing what they had had, and lost, in their kind and unassuming daughter, set all of her Pokemon free at her funeral. But strangely, when they did so ... one of the Pokeballs was completely empty.

Original FS Prompt response:
Though some might think Pokeballs were soundproof or some such nonsense, they really weren't. Briony had heard, through the thin shell of plastic, every sound associated with the attack on his trainer and her subsequent death. At first, he thought that she might survive the bite ... she was strong, and the two of them had gotten out of some pretty bad situations before. But this time ... it seemed that her luck had run out. Their luck had run out. Had Briony been able to move, his usual calm would have broken in a rather dramatic manner, for the first and likely only time in his life. He would have howled, raged, attacked the Seviper that bit her until it was dead and lying in a million pieces upon the ground. But he couldn't move. Unable to let himself out of the protective ball he'd willingly entered earlier that day, the Snivy curled in stunned silence as the events played out. He was helpless, and powerless to stop this, or even avenge his trainer ... his first and best friend ...

After a while, some of the shock faded, but now ... Briony just felt rather numb. Others of their team, who had also come to consider friends, had fallen in battles before, but ... this was different somehow. His trainer had been different. She was human, she was the one who talked to him, shared her secrets with him, carried him about through the world and showed him new and interesting places, took the flowers he brought her and placed carefully and gently into a thick book to be pressed and dried ... and now she was gone. He would never see her again, never hear her call his name to defend her in battle, or wrap his small arms about her as she cried after another of her parents' letters or phone calls. Never ...

With such thoughts circling in his head, Briony wept, as much as he was able whilst trapped inside the tiny space, curling in even tighter ... until finally, he drifted off into a troubled sort of sleep. Once there, he found himself lying curled in a garden, blinking eyes slowly open, even as he realized this must be a dream. Every plant that he had ever given to his trainer was there ... from exotic flowers, to reeds that grew by the shores of a distant lake, to the huge trees that would take years to grow from tiny seeds he had picked up along the side of a road on the other side of the world. It was a garden unlike any he had ever seen before, each grouping of plants seeming to form a tiny ecosystem of its own, mini representations of every place they had ever traveled together. And though he knew that none of it was real, Briony was still fascinated, wandering slowly along paths that led in and out of the various areas, paws feeling the rough bark of a tree here, tail swishing through the grass there.

Until he heard a sound. A familiar laugh, somewhere in the distance. His head snapped up, and he froze for a moment. Even if this was a dream ... and it wasn't real ... he missed her so much. And if some version of her was here in this place, he had to find her. Without even realizing it, he was running, searching for her, following the sound of laughter and pattering human feet. But once he closed in on the sounds, he found not his trainer, but ... a strange being. He looked human, but his long curling pink hair, the colors and style of his clothing and the pipe he was smoking reminded Briony much more of a particular Pokemon. "Who are you...?" he asked. "And where is my trainer?"

The strange being shook his head sadly and said that his trainer was not here ... but then, he offered Briony a unique opportunity. Become human, join him in their world, learn more of them and their ways. The Snivy blinked, finding the idea instantly fascinating. Though it wouldn't bring his trainer back, he could finally ... be closer to her than ever before. He could be human, like she had been. He could plant a garden of his own, live in a house, talk with other humans ... confront her parents, and tell them exactly how badly they had always made their daughter feel. Perhaps he could even find some way ... to prevent the same thing from happening again. Find some faster remedy for a Seviper bite, or a way to neutralize the poison entirely as soon as it entered the bloodstream ... an antidote of sorts. The possibilities were endless, really ... with this gift the Musharna was offering him.

But would it really be worth it? Frowning slightly, Briony said slowly that he would have to think about it. The Musharna nodded at that, and slowly faded from view. Now mulling the choice over in his mind, the Snivy began wandering again, gaze distant. There seemed to be a lot of positives to this deal, but surely there were negatives too. Where was the catch? Of course ... some humans would likely resent Pokemon entering into their world so boldly. There could be danger there, but it wasn't as if he hadn't faced danger before. However, since he had become friends with his trainer, he hadn't needed to face it alone ... and though the Musharna hinted at companions, it simply wouldn't be the same. This whole being human thing could end up making him more alone than ever. At least as a Pokemon, most others of his kind would always accept him. As the odd mix of human and Pokemon that the Musharna offered, he'd be forever stuck in the middle.

Briony sighed. Maybe it would be better to just ... go back into the wild and live out the rest of his life there. He was certainly strong enough by this point to defend himself if he found a decent place to live. He didn't think ... that he wanted to be with another trainer, though. And there was always the possibility that another human could find him, and wear him down until he could be caught. That ... that could very easily become a nightmare for the heartbroken Snivy. Either way, really, he was likely to be alone. But ... which way was better?

Glancing up, the Pokemon sighed again and reached out a paw to rest on the bark of a tree he'd nearly walked into whilst lost in his thoughts. "My friend, I wish you were here now to give me advice..." he murmured softly.

"Briony?" a voice called suddenly, and he whirled about to see his trainer standing there. She was, of course, a manifestation of his subconscious ... he knew that, intellectually. But before he knew what he was doing, he was running toward her, jumping up into her arms. "If you want my advice..." she murmured softly, with a faint smile. "I think that you should do this. It will be a new adventure, right? Even if we're not together, you shouldn't stop learning and exploring." Briony looked up at her, mystified. It seemed that she could understand him here ... and there was so very much he wanted to talk to her about.

She put a finger upon his mouth though, shaking her head slowly. "I'm not really here, you know. Just a piece of me, that you've stored inside of you. I guess, in a way ... I will be with you on this new journey. And maybe someday ... we'll meet again, in another place." The girl knelt down then, and set him down carefully, then took a step back. "Go for it, Briony. I think you'll have fun."

So, he said yes.

Eye color: Light silvery sort of blue
Hair color: Dark blue
Hair style: Extremely long~ Possibly in dreads, or just really curly/tangled/vine-like XD
Skin tone: Dark, but not like ... African American dark. More on the black/blue side of the color spectrum than the brown side
Build: Medium height, relatively well-muscled. Not like bodybuilder, but respectable 8D;
Clothing: Mostly dark colors - black & blue. Always wears red boots of some kind (lul). Could have a few red accessories to match those, possibly. Style of clothing should be relatively simple. Everyday street-clothes look, rather than formal or something like that. To go with inspiration from the Pokemon, lots of trailing bits of cloth or stringy sorts of accessories could be used~ XD

Hello, hello!

My immediate criticism is towards his personality. I can see the basic concept that you're gunning for (at least I think I can) but the issue I have is that I've got a sneaking suspicion there are a lot of 'unspoken' traits, or more accurately, each trait can be expanded upon to incorporate what hasn't been mentioned.

The most notable feature is that as it stands, he has no 'neutral' traits which he needs to have to be fleshed out properly. I'm not demanding that you pull brand new traits out of your hat but what I would encourage you to do is to develop the traits you have in place at the moment e.g.

Calm:
Does this calm facade have any disadvantages? It might not, it depends on how you intend to play him, but it is something to consider.

Curious:
Does this get him in trouble or is he sensible enough to know when to back off? I'm assuming from his intelligence that he would be sensible enough to back off but again, it is something to ponder over.

In addition, you might consider making another trait to expand upon his more calculating and darker side that ties in to his possessiveness. While he is possessive and you can mention his darker side in this section, it never hurts to develop it further to give him further depth!

If you can find a neutral quirk in amongst your existing traits then that would be perfect - generally speaking, a lot of traits tend to come off as positive or negative until you look at them more closely. If you do that, you might find that you can expand on a point until it encompasses this and shows that some traits and how they can be perceived are circumstantial e.g. A calculating character might seem to be a horrible sort in the short term, but there's nothing to stop that shrewd and calculating nature from being employed to assist another depending on what your character is confronted with.

My final concern is his history - you need to incorporate his reasons for becoming a Gijinka into it as you can't use your RP prompt entry for this in your quest thread or journal. If you can indicate why he took Musharna's offer in his history that would be perfect.

Manda

Of the top you need to include his interaction with Musharna, and provide what drove him to become a gijinka. Considering how critical this is in terms of how they come to be you need to include it in history.

Calm: In what cases does his facade drop and break, when does he loose his cool?

Intelligent: How this is written as he 'he was the smartest, he's frightfully quick to pick up things'. The wording almost borderline seems to meta-game situations. He's not the best..but he really close to it. He could be the smartest of the team...but to stack it with omg he's uber smart...it comes off as a bit over the top.

Loyal: That is extreme loyalty and if he's willing to go against his own morals due to it, what about his knowledge? What if he is asked, begged, told, ect ect, to go against something he knows is true? Or, back up something he knows in false?

Possessive: This seems kind of thrown in, since not much of his other traits really give in to this, or mesh well. If he's smart then doesn't he realize how he's coming off? If he's curious about things, how does it play into being possessive? Does that mean if he learns something new he won't share that knowledge?

Sensitive: If he's shown up and takes this so hard, that leans more towards pride, so I am going to ask if he is a prideful person? What happens if he does repeat old mistakes, or, he gets flat out rejected by those he was once so loyal too? If he met someone sarcastic or rude, how would he deal with them?

Strengths: When I read this I get a very different vibe from his actual personality. He's gone from having what appeared to be crippling self doubt to charismatic leader type who then becomes contradictory. Those with leadership and carry charisma are 99% very prideful, self confident, people, not prone to shelling up when given criticism.

Weakness: his jealousy was just barely hinted at in his personality. Same with his irrational possessiveness over people and their ties to others, which I didn't notice until now but..how does he even manage to keep friends then? The friend possessiveness is actually borderline creeper/stalker like.

Overall I'm going to agree with Epine that there is a lot going on here but also a lot going on that is unsaid which does need to be said to become a cohesive and whole profile. Considering how much the profile ties into them with the dream and the reason they become a gijinka, you really need to add that in since it can play a huge roll and help give light to his current personality and the way he is.
