[PRP] Little Wonders (Tahirah & Magadi)

[Tanakako]

It was a rare hour off for the young mzazi. Her charges were being watched by one of the other nannies while Tahirah went out and stretched her limbs and scared up a bite to eat. Though they weren't the providers for the pride she still enjoyed the exercise and made sure she kept fit enough to bring down a reasonable kill every so often, it was a nice change of pace too. Not that she ever regretted her choice of position within the pride, the cubs were her life and she would die to protect them. But even someone like her needed a little time alone every so often.

Pausing on the trail that led from the familiar comfort of her den to the open areas of the pride's mountain retreat, she lifted her head and scented the air. Hunting for fun was one thing, but she didn't want to risk running face-first into a stranger and causing affront. Satisfied the area ahead of her was safe enough from possible embarrassing situations, she resumed her path, emerging from a rocky bluff to see the valley floor stretch out before her and the shimmer of the lake beyond. With a smile and a light step, the young lioness set off into the green landscape, enjoying the change of scenery and the warmth of the sun on her back.

As for Magadi, at times it felt like his work was never done. There were many mwindaji, but there were also many mouths to feed, which meant hours of hunting and hauling. Still, the brightly-colored young lion wouldn't give it up. He could hold his own, but he had no taste for fighting or constant practice for such. And, well, he just didn't feel like he had anything to teach. Hunting, on the other hand, seemed to speak to his instincts.

For now, however, his 'instincts' were simple: find an out-of-the-way spot to flop down and rest for a little while. Padding along for a little while, his ears perked at the sound of pawsteps. "Hello?"

Lost in her thoughts, most of which consisted of the cubs she looked after, or well, one family in particular who didn't seem to sleep well and often told her of vivid dreams or nightmares she wasn't at all sure were actual dreams or nightmares... So when the voice called out to her, the young female gave a rather undignified squeak of surprise as she startled, all four legs going stiff. Blushing madly when she realised the voice had not been hostile or indeed... anything other than just a voice, she shook the stiffness from her spine and lowered her head sheepishly, brown ears back and an apologetic expression on her face.

"Um... Hello..."

The voice turned out to belong to a young male, one who seemed perfectly polite and nice to Tahirah. She didn't know him personally but decided very quickly that she could do so in a short space of time. They swopped general conversation, about the weather, where the best hunting was locally, and what each of them did and where they were going. It was a plesent distraction and Tahirah found herself hoping she would run into him again soon. But eventually her tummy reminded her that she had planned on a hunt herself and so, she bid him a cheerful farewell and set off once more, following his advice and picking a trail that would take her to where she should be able to find something easily caught for her meal.
