Lazing in the shade of a willow tree, Frost-Flame twitched his ears idly. It was a pretty nice day, aside from the gnats. Shutting his eye due to one particularly insistent insect, he snorted in slight irritation. Maybe a dip in the watering hole would help. He looked toward his eaglehound, Almost-Swallowed. Swim? he tried, saying it aloud and in his mind. She responded with a wide-mouthed yawn. Frost-Flame shrugged. As he descended into the water, he took a deep breath and went under completely.

Peregrine strolled along, headed for the watering hole. It was quite hot outside, and as a result the fully grown kimeti was parched. The light from the sun reflected brightly off the water, forcing him to look in another direction, while he approached it. His loyal eaglehound, Triage, walked at the same pace beside him. He tended to do this wherever they went, like a constant reminder saying "I'm with you."
The water tasted crisp and clean as Peregrine sat down to drink from the stagnant pool of water.

Not the most observant swimmer in the swamp, Frost-Flame didn't notice the buck who came to drink. At least, not until he resurfaced. Alarm ripped through his body as a physical jolt. The natural reaction to gasp turned out not to be such a good idea in the water. Digging his hooves into the muddy bank, Frost-Flame heaved the water from his lungs.
