It was raining.

Eve Summers was miserable, because it meant that she couldn't do her lifeguard duties. And for a while, doing her job helped to keep her mind off a very disturbing thing that had happened before camp.

So it was a complete surprise for Lucien Everard when he opened the door after a few sharp knocks and was greeted by his grumpy looking fellow lifeguard, clutching a pillow to her chest. Without even saying anything, she had pushed past him and stomped right in. It was probably lucky that his roommate was currently out of the room, perhaps somewhere in Baneberry due to the horrible weather. It didn't seem as though she really cared though, because Eve had sat down on his bed and started babbling with clear anguish on her face.

"Lucy, I'm going nuts. I mean, I was a horrible person, I don't even know what I was thinking or maybe I was being totally rational with my feelings back then but I really don't know, but no, I mean, I had responsibilites and ugh! It's been bothering me so much!" She looked like she was close to tears as she let herself fall back on his bed and then hid her face in the pillow she was holding. Perhaps he would have noticed that she was constantly referring herself in past tense, but Eve didn't look like she was in the mood to explain anything, just ranting whatever words came to mind.

"He's not a horrible person, of course." She said into the pillow. It was a mystery on whether she was still talking to Lucy. "Not horrible looking, either, but I mean, I don't know what I should think of him now, I mean, should I have had sparks or something because I don't think I did but maybe I was just distracted because you know how focused I can get on a goddamn jellyfish youma, by the way. Oh god, or was I like, so disturbed with it simply because he was there; I did keep thinking about it after that, I mean, things are so confusing!" Eve sat up and looked as though she was very tempted to throw the pillow across the room.

"Also by the way, you should stay away from a senshi called Zephyr." She mumbled, clutching the pillow tighter, and then stole a glance at him, blue eyes giving him a pleading look. "For my sake." She added, and then buried her face in the pillow again.

"Do you have any ice cream, by the way? I don't know... maybe brainfreeze can help me forget everything."

There was just one thing; she seemed to have already forgotten her that other job was to help out in office work and organize events. An indoor job didn't exactly depend on the weather, after all.

With little else to do during the rain--he couldn't be a lifeguard without swimmers, and the other counselors were entertaining the kids right now--the only thing Lucien could do was retreat to his room and dig out a book. Yes, he had packed a book, but considering that things had slowed down and he didn't have anything else to do, it didn't seem like it was a bad idea in hindsight.

Just as he kicked off his shoes and began to recline on his bed, there was a sudden rapping on his door. Needless to say, when he opened the door to see Eve, he wasn't the least bit surprised. It was Eve after all, and he expected her to come bother him once in a while. However, the expression she was wearing that day definitely threw him off guard. It was a vast contrast compared to her usual smile. Needless to say, he was concerned, so much so that he didn't even complain when she pushed her way in without waiting for his invitation.

It didn't take long until Eve started spilling all of her woes and sorrows...or uh, so Lucien assumed. She was clearly distressed, but he had absolutely no idea what she was distressed over. She was talking about being a horrible person, and responsibilities, and...a guy?

...Was she coming to him about guy troubles? Because honestly, Lucien didn't think he was the right person to go to if she wanted advice.

"Who's Zephyr?" He found himself asking, plopping down on the bed beside her and patting her on the back. He wasn't really sure what was bothering her, but he didn't mind listening to her rant. He was still a little concerned though.

"...We're at camp, Eve." He raised a brow at her question about ice cream, and then sighed, "Even if we did, I don't think it would be right to go swipe any. That being said...can you start over from the beginning about what's bothering you?"

Seth strode into the room, resting the novel on his shoulder with ease, "Hey Lucien," Seth spoke casually like old friends, "I'm here to return your book." Seth didn't mind reading, especially when there was nothing to do in the office after he finished the current day's tasks. And Lucien hadn't seemed to mind the other male's presence either. At least most of the time he didn't. Upon actually entering the room, he saw a puzzled Lucien sitting aside a distraught Eve. His gray eyes observed the intimate scene. And then it strayed back to the door, then to the couple with a raised eyebrow.

Needless to say, he didn't understand the situation. But he was not one to eavesdrop or intrude on somebody else's business. Even if that person tended to be Eve. "Do you need your privacy?" Seth uttered, looking around the room. "Or did you need another pillow?" He was referring to the one Eve had clutched so tightly to her chest, wondering if her frustration resulted from the inadequacy of said pillow.

"A d**k." Eve said morosely. "Wait, I take that back, rewind rewind! I-it's hard to explain! He's not really that bad, but just, you know! Just listen to me, please?" What if Zephyr met someone who knew her and during conversation, mentioned what had occurred on her homeworld? What then? No... he wouldn't do that, right? It concerned him as well, after all! One thing was for sure though, she wanted to avoid him as much as she could, and if Lemuria bumped into Zephyr and made friends with him...

Eve shuddered at the thought, tilting her head to lean it on Lucy's shoulder. "We can swipe it for all I care. I'm very sneaky. You need to learn how to be sneaky, anyway." Besides, she had even sneaked Coralie into Baneberry! There should be ice-cream in the kitchen, right? Eve didn't know if there was anything else she could drown herself with. She was about to contemplate whether she could calm her nerves and talk properly about that highly disturbing matter...

When she heard a familiar voice, turned around to make sure who it was, and promptly reddened upon confirmation. The next thing Lucy knew, she was down on the bed again, the pillow obscuring her face. "I-it's okay!" She said, her voice muffled by the pillow. The thing was, Eve was a good liar, so even she knew that it was a horrible lie.

It took a while for her to lower the pillow so at least her eyes could be seen. "Hypothetically," she began. "Do you believe in past lives?" After the question had slipped out, she ducked behind the pillow again, mumbling to herself. "OhgodwhatamIsayingthatisreallykindofstupid,Eveohgodit'snotliketheycanreallyunderstand..."

Unable to help himself, Lucien emitted a choked laugh--choked, because he was trying to hold it back, knowing that Eve would not be happy if he laughed at her, but...really now? A d**k? And this was coming from the usually peppy and outgoing girl! Clearing his throat, he made an effort to listen to her explanation, but found that she hadn't answered any of questions.

"Can't I at least get a reason?" The blond man asked, looking very confused but a little amused as well, "All I know about this Zephyr guy is that I should avoid him." He paused, and...oh hell, he couldn't help it.

"...And that he's a d**k."

Snicker.

"If we do have ice cream here, it's probably for the children, so we're not going to lay our hands on it, distressed or not." He rose his brows at Eve, though he knew that she had just been kidding about swiping the ice cream. Probably. Maybe. Hopefully?

Either way, his attention was drawn away when Seth suddenly strode into the room. Standing up, Lucien grinned and held out his hand to take the book back. "Thanks, Seth. How was it?" It really was a good thing that he had bothered packing books with him, regardless of what nicknames Eve would have called him. "I have more if you find that you need something else to read."

He waved his hand dismissively at the other man's question, turning to raise a brow at his female friend when he heard her stuttered reply. Something really did seem like it was wrong, but even after listening to her whole rant, he still wasn't completely sure what was bothering her. Maybe having Seth around would help?

"Past lives? Why are you asking about something like that?" His brows knit together in confusion, and he turned to look at Seth blankly, as if asking if the other male had any idea why she was asking this.
PostPosted: Mon Jun 27, 2011 12:43 am

"Yeah." Seth nodded. "I liked it." Which already was a major compliment from Seth. He nodded affirmatively once more, indicating that he would help himself to Lucien's novels later. He then looked back down to the flopped girl, wondering if all girls were like this? But Eve always seemed cheerful and without a care in the world. He couldn't help but admit that he was concerned.

He looked questioningly at Lucien's dismissive nod, tilting his head in bemusement. But he took it as a sign to stay so he pulled up an extra chair. He had a feeling that if he left, Lucien would never let him hear the end of this.

When Eve finally prompted a question, Seth's answer was very straightforward. "Should I?" He looked down at Flora in a diagonal glance as if the thought had never occurred to him. To be perfectly honest, Seth didn't contemplate such useless things. Even if there were past lives, was it really of any consequence to people's current lives? Debating such useless topics seemed like a waste of time. His clear cut answer made it clear to Lucien that he didn't know what caused Eve's distress.

"Okay, that was a really stupid question." Eve said, desperately wishing that she could actually rewind time and erase all that she had blabbed out. It was evident that she was seriously out of it when she didn't even pause to comment on the thing about books, and express her horror that Lucy had brought books to camp, of all places.

She hadn't even called him Lord Boring just once.

She lowered the pillow again, and it was clear to both of them that she was clearly distressed; her eyebrows were knitted together in worry and her lips were pulled into a frown. "I mean, um, hypothetically, if we did have past lives, and say, you met someone and you fell in love and such, and then you reincarnated and you met that person again... hypothetically, what would you do?" It was the Space Cauldron's fault. Yeah. For making things horrible for all of them, for holding Eon, for the whole Castor and Lina debacle, and now herself.

"We don't have alcohol in the cabin, do we?" She asked suddenly. People drank their sorrows away, didn't they? And Baneberry was full of Senior Counselors, and Senior Counselors only...

Okay, okay, no more laughing. As strange as Lucien found her question, it was obviously a very serious topic to her, as her currently expression showed. He wasn't exactly sure why it was so important, but he decided to indulge her anyways.

Running a hand through his hair, he considered her question thoughtfully. "So you're both--you and your, uh, lover, I mean--are reincarnated with your memories? What about your feelings?" Lucien flopped back on the bed, staring up at the ceiling. "I mean, love is supposed to come from what you feel, and not what you think, right? Your heart instead of your mind?"

...Dear god, what was he saying? He sounded like he was sprouting lines from a bad romance flick, but he cleared his throat and continued anyways. "That being said, I don't understand why you feel like you need to do anything. Couldn't you just leave it alone and let whatever happens happen?" It sounded like the lazy way out, but that's just how his thought processes went. Let whatever was going to happen happen by itself.

At her inquiry about alcohol, Lucien immediately jumped to his feet, crossing his arms and glaring down at Eve. "Oh no, no you don't. I'm sure the other counselors had the sense to leave the alcohol at home, especially since we're here with a bunch of kids." Most importantly, he didn't want to deal with a drunk Eve, and he was certain Seth wouldn't either.

Seth was probably like this inwardly: ?_?

He didn't really understand.

But he did understand one thing.

Seth stood up abruptly as well, sending the chair flying to the ground with a crash! He held Eve's head in a rather dark tone, "If you drink alcohol here, I'll dump you into the lake myself to sober you up." He had no desire to deal with a drunk Eve. But unlike Lucien, Seth would actually toss her out. He was not dealing with that tonight after all the brats he had just seen.

But afterwards, he sat on the bed resignedly with a sigh on the other side of Eve. The bed lowered under his weight and Seth felt like taking ahold of Eve's hand to reassure the young girl. But he didn't. Instead, he tried to address the problem. "I still don't understand. But," He paused and stared at the ceiling to reflect on her question.

He didn't understand love as Lucien was reasoning. But Seth had his own view on fate, destiny, or whatever you happened to call it.

In his usual straight-forward manner and with no judgment, he responded, "I think that the person you are today is not the same person you were in the past, regardless of your similarities. Therefore, what happened in the past doesn't really matter at all, does it? You are not 'them' and 'they' are not you. Therefore, don't feel obligated to make the same decisions that your past self did. After all, you've come this far making your own decisions, haven't you?" He held out a hand to lightly pet Eve.

"What's stopping you now?"
PostPosted: Mon Jun 27, 2011 7:31 am

"Hypothetically." Eve said loudly, and to emphasize that statement, sat up and swatted Lucy with the pillow she was holding. Of course, it also meant that she was acting terribly suspicious, but she didn't really care. It wasn't as though they would think that she really had remembered her past life, because Lucy had just been awakened and she wasn't too terribly sure if Knights had a past life back then, and well, Seth was Seth. She didn't want to drag him into their messed up lives.

"Alright." She mumbled, sulking at their huge reaction. "I was thinking about mediating in the lake anyway. And I can swim too. So there." Even though it seemed that she had abandoned all thoughts of getting drunk, at least she was starting to sound more like herself. Eve would not be intimidated, would not back down from a verbal fight.

"Hearts," Eve said to Lucy. "Are silly creatures that blind you to the truth and give you hope when you know it's hopeless. And then it hurts." That was exactly why she had decided to stay single and not get too attached to anyone.

But what Seth was saying made sense too. Flora of the past was different from her. They looked the same, but she could tell there was a difference. The past her had seemed to dislike and wanted to escape from her responsibilities. She had been horrified at that.

"Of course!" She brightened up considerably. "I'm Eve Summers, after all! No one tells me what to do!" The Space Cauldron had already forced her to be Sailor Flora. It wasn't forcing her to do anything else that wasn't of her own accord. She squeezed Seth's hand back with a smile.

"You know what I think the problem is? I've been out of the dating game since like..." A pause. It had probably started ever since she had been awakened. "Since entering DCU." That sounded plausible. "Okay, maybe if I count you escorting me to the Jada's ball." She pointed at Seth with a small grin. "And Marlo bringing me to prom. Other than that, my life had been horrifyingly unsocial lately." A bounce on the bed. "We should go out after camp is over!"

"That's why I don't date." Lucien grumbled at her spiel about hearts. Actually, that wasn't really the reason--he just wasn't interested in girls (or boys, Eve) so he never gave dating a shot. He didn't intend to anytime soon either, unless a certain someone decided to try playing makematcher.

Despite himself, a small smile found it's way to his face when the girl suddenly cheered up. Ah, there we go, that was the Eve Summers that they knew and loved! Reaching out, he ruffled her blond hair fondly, though his words that followed weren't quite as sweet, "All better already? That's my irritating little sister for you. You recover quickly."

His smile immediately dropped at her suggestion, and Lucien slid his gaze towards Seth. Pointing at the dark-haired man, he looked back at Eve with knit brows, "Just to clarify, you're talking to him, right? By 'we' you just mean you and Seth, yeah?" Were Eve and Seth dating? Hell if he knew, but what he did know was that he didn't have any intention of getting dragged out anywhere, especially shopping, with Eve.
PostPosted: Wed Jun 29, 2011 2:56 am

Seth smiled as the exuberant girl he knew regained her spirits. It wouldn't have been the same without her.

Seth didn't look as particularly shocked by Eve's suggestion, listening to Lucien with a casual glance. Although he was in the same boat, unsure of what Eve meant by 'going out'. But in response to Lucien's suggestion, Seth's eyes narrowed. "If you mean, going out of that door- Lucien is coming, right?" Seth let his head drop back to send an implicit warning glance at Lucien. Seth wasn't going through that by himself. And he would personally find him and drag him if need be.

"But if you mean going out as in dating.." Seth considered this carefully.. It was unclear whether Seth had dated prior to taking Eve prior to Jada's ball since he was inclined to keep silent on the subject. But considering that it was Eve. Seth looked off to the side for a bit, his hand covering his mouth in a rather contemplative gesture. He finally looked back at Eve, uttering "..I wouldn't mind."

"That is why you're boring." Eve retorted, and gave Lucy a light whack to the shoulder again with the pillow. "Look, you stay at home mostly to study, read, sew, take care of your siblings; not that that isn't a good thing, mind you, but combined together, you are such an old lady. When we grow up, I'm referring to you as a spinster, not bachelor. Just a heads up." And Eve never forgot things she had planned for Lucien Everard.

"I'm not irritating!" She defended herself, and contemplating swatting him right in the face. Then again, Lucy was too boring to get into a full on pillow fight. Sigh.

And then, with their replies, she realized how vague she had been. "Wait." She said slowly. "Did I just inadvertently ask you out?" Eve looked towards Seth with wide eyes. And did he just say that he wouldn't mind?

"U-u-uh I meant, the three of us! I don't see why you two seem so hesitant about it!" Especially Lucy, when his sense of fashion was really just quite dreary. He was boring enough already! But on to the other matter. It wouldn't do for her to sound as if she didn't want to date Seth.

"I mean, uh, I wouldn't mind dating you, I guess, since you're receptive to it..." Eve chewed her lip in thought. She never really dated guys that were friends; never Lucy and not Luke either, because that sort of thing would ruin friendships, wouldn't it? But Seth had kind of said yes, and it would be horrible of her to turn him down. "I just usually get asked out by guys, not the other way round." She explained.

Girls were a different matter, but she hadn't dated a girl in quite a while. Probably didn't need to bring it up either, or Lucy would probably faint.
PostPosted: Wed Jul 06, 2011 2:53 am

Lucien didn't even say anything during his friends' exchange, but watched them with risen brows, hiding a smile behind his hand. Oh ho, what was going on here? He considered teasing them, but honestly, he was kind of interested in what was happening here.

Interested in gossip or in other people's relationships? Lucien? That was unusual for him.

Seeing Eve's uncertainty, the blond man shrugged and pat her on the head. "Why not, Eve? Surely a simple date won't hurt, right? As for you," He turned back to Seth and clapped him on the back, none too gently either, "If you do take her out, take care of Eve, okay? ...And good luck."

He didn't bother explaining his good luck wishes, as he figured Seth would understand. If it was any other guy, it probably would have been something like "good luck with getting her in bed", but for Lucien in regards to Eve? It was more like, "good luck not getting dragged around shopping".

"And really, Eve? Do I have to go on an outing with you guys?" He sighed, rubbing his neck, "Couldn't you just drag Seth out for dates and leave me to my books?"

"All right then. Shall we go out?" Seth said with a straight expression, his facial expression not changing in the lightest. In fact, his question was rather common-place as if they were speaking about the weather rather than a possible relationship.

And at the mention of Seth being left alone to Eve's devices.. It was no surprise when Seth's hand settled on Lucien's in a rather uncomfortable grip to say the least. "Sorry Lucien." Evidently from the look on his face, Seth didn't mean that at all.

His gaze clearly read: Lucien, if you leave me to shop alone with her- I will kill you. There was no kinder nor blunter way to say it. Putting their powered alter egos aside, Seth would do it. With his background as an unrelentless street fighter, he was more than capable enough. He had no qualms about dumping a dead body into Destiny City's river. There was no way in hell that Seth would be dragged along regardless of his like for the younger girl. He could tolerate several things but even he had his limits.

"So how about it, Eve?" This may have been one of the few times that Seth confessed to a girl.
