The Mess hall had been converted from the one stop food and fun emporium the kids had come to recognize it as, in the context of the camp, to a large performance area. There was a stage set up, with lights, and the space had been rearranged for seating. There were concession stands all along the side walls, offering drinks and candy and manner of fun things to make watching the performances of each camper even more fun.

Kookaburra was busy getting her things set. It was just the last minute preparations, with the other counselors. The campers would be brought along and the fun would begin.

Soon the house was open, as they say in the theatre, and performers and spectators alike began filling the hall. Immediately the air burst into excitement, the sound of what seemed like a thousand tiny voices chattering all at once making the space warm and amiable. Gently approached the mic after the seats seemed to be filling, announcing the start of the show.

"Welcome, everyone, to the Camp Lakespur Talent Show! Everyone who has prepared an act needs to get signed in, and performance order will be determined by that sheet. Don't fear going first! to break the ice, I have prepared a little skit for you!"

She launched into a monologue, some comedic bit she had picked up from a children's show. She gave it her all and she seemed to have no nerves while she performed for them all, hoping to instill in the campers a sense that everything was safe. More than once she 'forgot' a line, or stumbled while she moved, making her performance imperfect but still having fun.

That was, as with most things with Gently and with this camp, the important part.

((So! This RP is meant to be fun and easy going. Anyone can post whenever they want for their performance: just assume one post is a complete talent/skit/song/whatever it is you want your guys to do. You can do more than one if you'd really like, and you can be in each other's. If there is a performance that requires more than one post, just make sure to note!

If you need tech or music, you have permission to use it from the counselor's so long as it is nothing too advanced. There is a computer and some speakers, a mic and some risers and chairs in the curtained off 'back stage' area. You can RP in the backstage before or just after your performances, or if you decide you want to be a tech hand. You can also RP in the audience!

Basically, just have fun with it. It's not regulated or GM'd in any real way.

For added fun, when you post a performance you can roll a 1 - 100 number. The higher the number, the bigger your applause. The highest number will receive... the title of Most Talented Camper. Who doesn't want that, right?))

Aitana didn't mind going 'first'. She was more then happy and ready to both show off and test out her skills, in fact.. she'd probably have more fun doing her act then others would have watching them. But it had been so long since she'd actually had a place or reason to test her gymnastic skills, and when the talent show had been announced she could not resist!

Strolling on when it was her turn, Aitana dragged a chair along with her, setting it back to leave herself plenty of room. She didn't have much prepared to introduce herself or anything really, no, she was all business.

She did a cartwheel to one edge of the little stage.. not that impressive.. many 8 years olds could do that. What followed however was a little more of a show.

A couple of handsprings sent her from one edge of the stage. A front flip laid her out onto the ground and with an arch of her back she pulled herself up into a full handstand, walking on her hands a few paces before she rolled out in another flip. Her legs stretched in graceful splits on the ground and up in the air. At another point she bounced balanced from hand to hand as she swung her legs around and around in a circle.

Her jumps were not as high as they usually were, her holds not nearly as long either. Maybe it'd been too long since she'd actually been in a formal class.. or maybe it was just how tuckered out she was from running around like a maniac.

To a skilled gymnast the show might have looked sloppy and too informal, but Aitana wasn't betting on there being too many real gymnasts in the crowd. And the fact that she didn't fall had her happy enough with the performance.

She ended her show with the grand finale, grasping the back of the chair with both hands. She hopped and her feet went up, holding her in a handstand above the chair for a good 20 seconds before she tucked forward, landing seated in the chair. Tada!

She waved triumpantly to the audience as she made her way off, trying to catch her breath and cool herself down.

((Visual aid, of some of the stuff she did incase anyone wants to watch some short gymnastics ;D ))

Ainsley McMahon was up next and she had almost no preparation time. She wasn't even sure what she was doing here, and if it had been a day earlier she wouldn't have even come. Yesterday she had been out looking for Cora, determined to find her before all else. The thought of the talent show had distracted her throughout the day as she heard and watched campers talk about and practice things they were going to do, but she had her own task to do. However, she had been unable to complete her task and while falling into the peaceful arms of the God of Sleep, she found comfort at last in her dreams. Her dreams were sweet and with them she found new hope that Cora would come back home to her. She'd never stop looking for her but in the meanwhile, Cora wouldn't want her to be sad and miss out on all the fun the camp had to offer. Camp was almost over, it shouldn't be a time for sadness!

Although the child didn't have time for sadness, there was certainly plenty of time for worry as the clock ticked down to her moment in the spotlight. She'd only had the morning between activities to think of and practice a routine for the talent show and it wasn't nearly enough time! Not only that but she still wasn't even sure what she was going to do! She had given the counselors a CD to play for her to dance to but she wasn't sure if she could do that after all. What if she froze up in front of everyone? How could she go on after the wonderful gymnastics display that was currently going on? Well, there wasn't much time to rethink it as Aitana finally finished her act, landing in the seat of her chair. Wow!

Ainsley clapped her hands repeatedly, and nearly forgot what she was going to do when she was practically pushed onto the stage for her part. She could feel the eyes staring at her as she was introduced and it felt like an eternity before the music in the queue finally began. Oh goodness, what was she going to do? Her legs froze and her eyes locked on the distance that seemed to be the stage and the audience. She couldn't do this! She couldn't do this! She wanted to turn on her heels and run off the stage before she embarrassed herself anymore but she couldn't even move her legs. She thought she heard a whisper in the wind, and as her eyes looked up to the sky she thought she seen a snowflake fall from the sky. Her head turned, and she thought she seen a ballet shoe of ice blue.

"Gwenliana?" She whispered, as her hands fell over her chest softly.

Gwenliana was here, she could feel the cool sensation on her skin that would otherwise be defined by the breeze that came up off the lake. She was encouraging her! She wasn't sure if she could do this, but when the music queued up finally the child's feet moved as if she were playfully chasing after the snow dancer. She tried to recall all of the things the dancers had taught her, trying to stay light on her feet. She couldn't do en pointe, but her heart felt lighter, and with her she found herself moving to the music. It was sloppy, and amateur but there was a smile on her face. She'd probably never be very good at it, but it always brought her such fond memories and such peace of heart as she felt herself soar even if just a foot into the air as she jumped.

She danced, and she danced, playfully dancing around as if she were really chasing something around the stage. She'd taken up the entire stage in her dance, in her chase to keep up with Gwenliana's dancing pace, and before she knew it she was on her last steps and the cool breeze she felt had disappeared, leaving her alone on stage to seemingly finish what she'd started. Alone, she closed her eyes and lifted her arm into the air one way and her leg on the other and tried to hold it until the music stopped. She couldn't see them, or even feel their cool touch that she often mistook from a cold wind but she felt like the dancers were there again, helping her hold up her leg and her arm but when the music stopped, their memory seemed to disappear as well and the child stumbled her foot, causing her other to drop to the ground as she caught herself.

It was over. The child's face couldn't help but become red as she realized and quickly ran off the stage. Regardless, a smile lingered on her face. No matter how bad, she'd managed to go through with it.
