It was... not a very fine day. The winds whipped through the skies, whistling through skeletal branches and worming its way deep into the skin of those unfortunate enough to own flesh and seep deep into their bones.

Gypsy welcomed it. The cold gave her something else to think about other than that stupid, ignorant, goody-goody of a gryphon...

Picking her way among an equally cold marsh [a thin layer of ice was beginning to form its way atop the murky water], Gypsy's body voiced its complaints by means of shakes and shivers that occassionally catapaulted her from the safety of the dry parts of land. It was on such an occassion that, after a nasty bout of quaking that had originated deep within her bones, Gypsy's footing was lost in the muck and the screeching wind and her own sigh of exhaustion.

As she lay there, there in the freezing water of a swamp that was deserted, Gypsy's mind allowed itself to return to the though of the gryphon who had saved her from her doom. Although, she thought with a grim smile, this end wasn't much better. Her body was too weak to pull itself up from the mud that was sucking her down.

Grappling with the memory, Gypsy's mind extracted one bit of information she didn't mind having. Ramoran-- yes, that was his name.

Cold. Cold wind, cold air, cold earth underfoot; cold silence, cold emptiness...life could be very cold sometimes...and often was. Particularly when one was used to activity, noise, and warmth, as Ramoran was. Lord knew what he was doing out here in this godforsaken place, alone with no one but his thoughts. But then, that was how it was supposed to be, wasn't it?

===Flashback====

"Hey, don't worry about a thing, Ram; trust me, I can more than handle things around here. You go ahead and take that vacation, alright? Get some rest for once, and quit thinking that the weight of the world is on your shoulders. I'm worried about you, you know..."

===End flashback====

Yes, that was Zain for you; always watching his back. Still, it made Ramoran smile to think about his friedn, the one who had become so concerned over the red gryphon's sleepless nights and haggard visage that he'd finally forced Ramoran to take a vacation, to collect himself, get back to his robust self, and just take it easy.

"But it hasn't really worked out that way, has it?" Sighing, he turned his head skyward, but only for a moment; the ground underfoot, semi-frozen muck, was not something that should be looked away from. Any careless steps out here could cause disaster, after all....

Pbbb~. Damn, but freezing to death was cold!

Quaking and shivering and jolts of meager attempts to reawaken her flesh, Gypsy resigned herself with a deep sigh, halfheartedly watching the steam that erupted from her lips crystallize and fall to the icy ground, sounds like a gathering of diamonds that had just been sprinkled atop a goddess. Well. At least she should be grateful that she wasn't dying to the sounds of agonizing screeches, Gypsy thought with a wry twist of the mouth.

Odd. Since Gypsy had fallen parallel to the ground, one of her ears was solidified on top of its surface, allowing her to hear any vibrations-- if anyone was stupid enough to venture into this godforsaken place. But, strangely enough, there was a methodical clopping of.. footprints, it sounded like, except for the occassional pause.

Had Gypsy had enough energy to pry open her jaw and call out, even just a shrill whinny, she would've done so in a heartbeat. Gypsy's body, however, was almost kaput. She waited for the inevitable end, concluding that this stranger was too far away to reach her anyway.

"Ahhhh-Choo!!!" A shiver and a twitch of his nose, then an enormous sneeze erupted from Ramoran's mouth as the chill of the air finally got to be too much for him. Damn, but this was a lousy place to be...

With an occasional sploosh as his hooves sunk into the muck, he continued to walk along, wings wrapping his body up as a sort of feathery overcoat. At this point all that mattered was getting out of this miserable place...

...or not. Freezing as though he had suddenly become a statue, the massive gryphon simply stared. Stared ahead at a cluster of rainbowy feathers almost lost amongst the marsh..."Good grief..." Maybe his eyes were playing tricks on him, because there was no way on earth that that mare could be here, in a marsh, sinking...could there?

.. The hoofbeats had stopped. Cracking open one eye, the only thought that filtered into Gypsy's head was, Am I dead?

But as the marsh's swampy water lapped at her body, freezing upon touch, rotting plant stench infiltrated her nose, cold continued to slowly numb her limbs, and the image of the red and black gryphon swam into view, Gypsy concluded that, no, she was definitely not dead. Unless this was hell - but, it was a bit too cold for that.

Ramoran was just what she needed on her plate. Groaning, the colorful gryphon burrowed her face deeper into the muck.

Obviously he wasn't dreaming. Still, this was far oo oddly coincidental for the stallion's peace of mind, and he'd have to set aside time later to mull it over. But in the meantime...well, sinking in marshes probably wasn't healthy.

"Gypsy...I'm beginning to have suspicions that you're suicidal. And even if you are, there has to be a better way that by hypothemia/drowning in a smelly bog." Maybe not his most tactful statement, but his one other experience dealing with this mare had indicated that bluntness was probably the best route. And as he spoke, he was picking his way through the ankle deep water towards her, wings flapping to help keep him from being pulled under.

Despite her wishes and the situation, Gypsy found a wry smile tugging its way across her lips as her one eye that was not permanently implanted into the smelly bog watched him make his way towards her.

"As odd as it looks, I didn't try this time," Gypsy's mouth opened on its own accord, and she continued, "And I never asked for your help, Ramoran. Fancy seeing you here in the first place."

She was just asking to be left here, wasn't she? Uugh.

((Gah! I keep forgetting about this rp...I'm sorry *snugs Bird, Ram, and Gypsy*))

"No, you didn't ask for my help, but then, I also never offered any help to you now, did I?" Continuing to smile, Ramoran finally made it over to where Gypsy was lying in the muck; true to his statement...all he did was stand there and look down at her. "Although I find myself doubting your denial, you just don't strike me as the type who'd go out in a puddle of mud.

Still, he made no attempt to help her; his naturally chivalrous nature was kicking madly inside him, but he refused to do anything on the grounds of her comment. Acerbic to the last, wasn't she? "But anyway...I just wound up wandering out here in the course of my travels...running into you certainly wasn't part of the plan, but what can you do, right?"

( DX Aw, crud. Kick me, will ya? )

"What can y'do?" Gypsy slurred, nodding as well as the mud would allow her to do so. She kept her silence for a while, concentrating on her breathing instead of the cold that was silently creeping its way up to her knees and down her neck, discreetly wriggling to test what she could and couldn't do (zilch on the could) before she rolled her eyes, sighed, and grudgingly asked:

".. would you mind helping me?"

Her pride had just been shot down like a brick that sprouted wings and jumped off a cliff to test them. Oi. Ramoran would never let her live this down.

((Obviously we both need a kick. Go us!))

Ramoran's first reaction was to simply raise a brow; Gypsy asked for aid with all the grace of a sumo wrestler. But then, given his experience with her in the past...the fact she asked at all was surprising. So he quickly tamped down the surprise, and smiled instead.

"Well, I think that I can manage." After eyeing Gypsy's current state, though, he had to pause and try to figure out just how he could manage that. She probably wouldn't like it if he grabbed a wing in his teeth and yanked...

Instead, he looked around them; after a short moment, his gaze settled on a conviniantly cliched sturdy woodvine...perfect! "Alrightly, Gypsy; just hang tight and hold onto this. Try to wrap it around you, if at all possible." Taking the vine in his teeth, he snapped it out towards her like a whip, clinging to the other end with his teeth.

( XD;; Love the sumo wrestler comment. *<3's Ram* )

Oh, good. At least he was still there - Gypsy hadn't any idea as to what to expect. This, her mind supposed, was a good sign.

Obeying, though her wounded pride was yowling its head off, Gypsy twitched her neck muscles to warm them up a bit (freezing to death took way too long), the gryphon stretched as far as she could, managing to wind the bit of plantlife around a bit of her leg. She gripped the end of it in her mouth, teeth making it darned near impossible as they clambered and chattered about in her mouth.

.. not to mention it tasted vile.

"Let her rip!" she called, which was muffled and sounded much more like, "ren a'brit!"

Nope. Dignity was not going to make it out of this alive.
