Amphi was extremely nervous. Extremely....Nervous. She had never...not been nervous, okay she had but not about things such as...Dates and what was it the land walkers called it? Prom? She was totally unsure of how to ask, what to do, wasn't even sure what she was going to say.
So when the note on the door with the dorm room and name was pasted on her door, she took it and folded and unfolded and folded it again. So crinkled with her nervous fidgeting and worn that it was starting to rip. Even more so was that the date was not as far as she though. It was also a resident of the monster dorms. As she eyed the paper, practically with the dorm room memorized, she headed to the room where she would meet the fated "Blind Date".
Her black hair was tied into a loose bun as her fringe fell forward to hide her piercing blue eyes. She wore her usual attire though, her heavy black sleeves and short black shorts with all the hints of light blue and purple. At a glance, no one could tell she was a mermaid at all.
After a short walk, she bounced first in front of the door before hesitantly lifting her hand on the door. Curiosity won out after the urge to run away, and she tapped on the door. "Oh, Please be here...no wait, please maybe be here."

Sheridan had had no idea his name had been entered in the blind date pool. It had all been the work of his friend Petro. Petro had certainly had good intentions, but if Sheridan had known, well he would have stopped him. Petro apparently had some mixed-up ideas about what prom really was.
For his own part, Sheridan had never been one for dates, he simply didn't understand the idea. Girls, romance, dating, it was all a foreign concept to the young scientist. What was he supposed to do on a date anyways, he wouldn't have known how to act or what to say. He had supposed he would at least go to the prom, if for no other reason than curiosity over what all the fuss was about, but he hadn't figured out the details just yet.
Hmmm?
He had been reading, tail twitching quietly, for the moment more interested in whatever he was reading than ideas of Prom. Had that been a knock on his door? Who would be knocking...? Setting his book aside, he walked to the door. Opening the door, his eyes fell on the ghoul standing there. He blinked, a twitch of his tail, he didn't remember meeting her before.
"Hello?"

What surprised Amphi the most was not the fact that it was a boil, nor the fact that it was a boil was a dragon but the pure fact that the door had opened at all. She quickly let her gaze go up to meet that face of a very beautiful colored dragonkin. She had heard of the ones that were more inclined to the sky but had never actually met one.
So she stood there awkwardly silent, staring at him with all the pure thought to run. "I'm supposed to be your prom date!" She blurted out loudly before covering her mouth and turning red. Oh jack, this was embarrassing.
"Oh. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell." She whispered and then tried to start again. "Hi, um, My name is Amphitrite, I'm a mermaid from the Ghoul's dorms..." Oh she was being such a dork about this right now, she wouldn't blame him if he shut the door right then. Her face was a continuous shade of a embarrassed red, "I signed up for a blind date thing to this thing at school called Prom? And I was matched up with you?" she held out the note that Riley had sent to all the participants with Sheriden's name at the bottom. "If you would like to still go with me...ummm...Sheriden??" She wrung her hands together nervously looking down, pronouncing his name like she had seen it on the paper. "Well, If your going to Prom right? I mean....Did I do this wrong?" She tried really not to ramble as she flicked her eyes up and down nervously. Argh, this was a lot harder then she thought.

His tail was still for a moment, blink blink, there was a ghoul at his door? He might have been self-conscious about staring if he'd realized that was what he was doing. Date? Prom? What was she--Petro...
It was then he remembered what the horse had told him, except that Petro had used the word escort, and something about 'someone to watch your back'. Clearly he had some things to explain to his friend.
But right now there was a girl at his door, a pretty girl, a pretty girl he was supposed to go to prom with.
"I um...I don't think you did it wrong."
Smooth Sheridan, very smooth. It seemed he was just as awkward as she was.

Amphi watched as he stared at her. Was she...was she not to his liking? Maybe, oh maybe he didn't want to go to prom. Oh crap, what was she suppose to do now.
"I, Uh, I'm sorry." She smiled apologetically at him, "I didn't realize-Oh um." She blushed as he spoke and then took a deep breath. "How about we start over okay? I'm not good with etiquette with land walkers so um."
She stood awkwardly in front of him before smiling up at him, "Would you like to go to prom with me?"
and she clapped her hands, "And if so, would you like to go to the maul to get prom dress wear?"

Oh how clueless the dragon was in these matters. All the books he'd read, all the science he'd learned, none of it was helping him now! What was he supposed to do, what did he say?
His first answer was a silver blush that spread across his cheeks, a nervous twitch of his tail. It was another moment before he nodded, and still another before he opened his mouth to speak.
"O...okay."
Even Sheridan knew that was not the way to answer a pretty girl who wanted to go to prom with him, blind date or not. Fail Sheridan, EPIC FAIL. Why couldn't this be easy, you know, like quantum physics?
Wait, the maul? Prom wear? Oh. It was then he realized the only thing he had to wear was the clothes he normally wore. Something told him pants and a t-shirt wouldn't be acceptable.
"Yeah, okay. Sorry, I guess I'm not that good at etiquette either."
He had stepped into the hallway, one hand on his door to pull it closed behind him. So then he guessed they were going to the maul?

Amphi watched the dragon with careful eyes, oh good he hadn't rejected her yet. She gave him a brilliant smile at his own shyness and ducked her head. It looks they were too shy haunts put together. Not that she didn't mind, She liked the quieter types, they usually we're the ones who were nice listeners.
Added to the fact that this was her first dragon, she almost thought she was doing well. The silver blush on his skin made her blush pinken more as she tried to think.
"Oh well." She gave a small chuckle, "I guess we'll be bad at it together." She smiled up at him as he left his room and stood by her, wow he was much taller then she was and she had to tilt her head up to look at him. He was a handsome boil either way, and she loved his night time like skin, looking into it gave her a sense of peace really.
"I am not sure what we're suppose to get? Have you ever been to Prom?" She stuck close to him as they passed through the dorms and as they headed out, slinking her hand through his arm, gently brushing it with a light grip. Just in case he wasn't the touchy type and she could remove it. "I, Uh, Don't know much about it besides its a dance." She blushed again, failing at the very thing she had been signed up. Argh, why didn't she know more about landwalkers stuff. "Oh um, I forgot to ask, your a dragon right? What kind?" She tried for small talk, just to get to know him a little more.

He gave her a small smile, making sure he was door was closed securely before starting down the hall with the ghoul at his side. Why was he blushing and why did he feel so nervous? She was just a ghoul right? There was nothing to be nervous about... Except that she was a really pretty girl and they were going to prom together, gulp!
"I'm not exactly sure, I've never been to one before. But it's a formal dance right? I think we need a dress and a suit?"
His tail twitched, that probably meant he needed to wear a tie.
Ah, she was holding his arm, he could feel his blush growing, but he didn't pull away. Relax Sheridan, this wasn't so bad, he could do this, nothing to be nervous about.
"I'm a celestial dragon. You are a mermaid?"
Sheridan was starting to relax now, his tail flicking lightly with each step.

"Oh a Dress and a Suit then!" She thoughtfully tapped her chin as to what she would wear, something blue maybe? Seeing as both him and her we're more inclined to the darker shades of blues, purples and blacks. She thought he would look dashing in a black suit, though she would love to see him in anything else as well.
"I love to dance so I'm glad I can at least know to do that." She smiled up at him again keep her grip still light. He had a silver blush to him just as she had her pink blush. It would've been awkward had Amphi not tried to hard to keep things going. She like how easy he was to get along with and it wasn't like he was outrageously flirting with her as well.
"A celestial...oh from the stars!" Amphi now looked excited, her eyes instantly went up and tapped his arm. "Yes I am a mermaid! Born from the Pisces constellation and the Sea. So I come almost the stars, kinda of like you." She gave him a pearly white smile, "We're a Female clan of mermaids though, your one of the few boils I have met as well." She cocked her head at him as she kept her steps in walk with his. She looked behind to notice the tail as well and smiled, his nervous swish was becoming more relaxed. "Do you like being at the academy so far?"
It didn't take long for them to walk to the maul though, with the doors in sight, she pulled from his arm and opened the door for him to walk through. "After you Sheriden." She smiled, "Should we find you a suit first?" She followed behind him tapping her chin thoughtfully again,

Sheridan listened with interest as she spoke. A mermaid from the stars? He supposed he shouldn't have been surprised, though he wasn't sure if she'd meant that literally or figuratively. However if he'd had any thoughts to ask, he'd find they'd arrived at the maul before he could speak it.
"It's not as bad as I thought it would be, the stars are nice here. Might want to avoid the field trips though."
There was a smile as he walked through the door then waited for her to follow. A suit first? Well they had to start somewhere right, may as well be there.
"Alright."
Unlike Amphi, Sheridan wasn't really thinking about the details of what they would wear, he really didn't know much about suits or dresses.
"Where do we look?"

"The stars here?" She smiled, "Field? Field trips?" She stared at him and then looked down, "the school has field trips?" She tapped her chin in thought, she had never heard of them, though she was very new to the school.
"Okay let's see." She looked around as she took his hand in hers, another light grip in case he felt awkward and pulled him along. He was again bigger then she was, so she was surprised to see her hand engulfed in his. Ah, a boil's hand was sure different, If they weren't walking around the Maul, she would've stopped to study it. Again she had never really had met a boil.
"Oh how about we look here!" She smiled as she stopped in front of a shop, it was filled mannequins filled with colored suits and accessories. Pulling him through, she tried not to be filled with childlike excitement at the thought of something new. "Is there a color of anything you want?!?!" She let his hand to pull out a bunch of the suits.

Field trip may not have been the right word, it was more like a nightmare. There was a time he would have shuddered at the thought, now it was just a memory. He was still never going on another field trip ever again.
But a nod was the only answer he managed to get out as he suddenly felt her hand in his, the blush rising to his cheeks again. Her hand seemed so much smaller than his, light and delicate, cool to the touch. Was that because she was a mermaid?
Where was she, oh, they were going into a store, a store with suits, a lot of suits. He had never seen so many different suits before, why were there so many? Was he really meant to wear one of these?
"I um...like blue."
Oh how completely lost he was.

Amphi felt his hand tighten on hers as they pulled into the store and watched Sheriden's eyes. It was quite intimidating actually as they looked at all the suits. She had no idea what size Sheriden was.
"There is so many." She smiled at him. "I'm sure we'll find one you like!"
"Oh! Blue then!" that was on of her favorite colors as she looked at all the suits, keeping her hand tucked in his as she pulled him from one to another. She was quite sure what colors would go with him before one of the suits caught her eye. It was a dark navy blue, almost black but not. There was a light hue blue of a vest with a white shirt and a blue scarf like tie. Pulling him to it she stared at it a long while. "What do you think of this one Sheriden?" she smiled up at him, pointing to the suit. "Are those the kind of colors you like?"

"Are there really so many different suits?"
A suit seemed like it would be a simple thing, just pants and a jacket, yet each one he looked at seemed different. It was overwhelming, he had no idea it would be so complicated.
It was a good thing Amphi had a better idea of what she was doing, or the dragon she was pulling behind her would have gotten completely lost. He was looking around the store, eyes darting from one suit to the next, not certain of what he was looking for or how he'd know it if he found it. It was like a jungle in here!
Oh, she had found something? His head tilted looking at the suit, a hand reached out to touched the fabric.
"It's nice, I like the colors. Should I try it on?"
He eyed the suit curiously, uncertain if it would fit.

"Well I suppose so!" She waved over the suits and tried to keep looking. Though she kept coming back to the one that she found. "Do you want to try it on then?" She motioned one of the clerks over as she took a look at Sheriden and smiled. "I think she'll be able to help you?" Amphi squeezed his hand and then let go to look more at other suits as the clerk took him away to change.
"Okay, I'll stay right here." She smiled at him, trying to comfort his uncomfortableness. "And then we'll find a dress that matches whatever you pick out!"
