Tay wasn't really busy. She'd just finished asking one of the nannies if she might come by and help out for a few hours a day a few times a week. She had always known that she wanted to be a nanny when she grew up, and now that she was an adolescent it was time for her to start really doing it. Under supervision, of course.
Tay didn't mind the supervision part. She would have been the first to admit that she was not a very fast learner. Not that she was stupid, but in her lessons as a cub she had always been slow to grasp more complicated concepts and very slow to memorize all of the rules and history of the pride. The fact that she would be in charge of teaching it to others worried her a little bit, but she would just work extra hard to make sure everything she told her charges was correct.
"Maybe Sutekh would be willing to help me," she mused, speaking aloud because she was fairly certain she was alone. "I should find him and ask."
Her friend had been training as a scribe when they first met, and had since started training as a priest. Surely he would be able to help her fill in the gaps in her knowledge. It did seem that he was always helping her though, and she felt a little guilty about it. She would have to finish the present she had intended to make him for fixing her bracelet all that time ago.

Hathor's heart ached she was alone again her beloved had left her mother was missing what was she to do. She was walking with no big destination she had given up in her search for her beloved and tried to find something anything that would take her mind off her troubles.
She walked past her old playing grounds wincing as she did. She did not need to be there she growled and began to walk faster now not noticing where she was going as she bumped right into a smaller female. She let out harsh growl from the bump before realizing she had did it. She thought a moment be she turned her head and muttered out.
"We were not looking where we were going...we apologize." She said a bit coldly before she looked to the female she was rather pretty and quite strange she'd never seen anyone with such a dark pelt before.

Tay barely suppressed a surprised squeak when someone unexpectedly bumped into her. Instead it emerged as a muffled grunt. If she could have silenced that, too, she would have, but it proved impossible. Tay was afraid, though, that any sort of indication of discomfort on her part might send the other party into a flurry of guilt-ridden apologies of the sort Tay herself might have made. Like most good people, she made the mistake of believing that the rest of the world was as nice as she was.
It didn't seem like that would be a problem, though, since the collision brought out a growl from the other participant. Tay's expression was instantly remorseful, even though she wasn't sure the impact was even her fault. It had to have been her fault in at least some way, for she hadn't seen anyone coming and hadn't moved to avoid the lioness she hadn't seen. So, yes, the blame could probably be lain at her feet just as easily. Growling seemed a bit extreme though. The other lioness must be having a bad day.
"I'm sorry," Tay offered. "I wasn't watching where I was going either. It was thoughtless of me. You aren't hurt are you?"
She hadn't failed to notice the other lioness using the third person plural in her speech, but she didn't know how to interpret that, and so she carried on as though the other lioness's speech patterns were perfectly normal. After all, she would be dealing with cubs on a regular basis in the near future, and cubs spoke far more creatively - and incomprehensibly - than simply using different pronouns.

Hathor looked at the female a moment she was quickly getting bored with how she was. She moved her step walking past her as she let out a small huff.
"We are fine...for the most part." She said with another slight growl. "We are looking for someone...we wish to find him." She said looking to the female now. "We seek our beloved. We have been gone and wish to see him." She said her glare lighting up a bit. "We wish to know why he has forsaken us."
She looked around seeing the old den was rather odd she thought she'd never seen it again but there she was looking at it. "We are angered...we demand to know why." She said before looking back to the female as if expecting her to tell her all the answers to the questions she asked.
"We are Hathor." She said knowing her mother would be displeased if she forgot her manors and had not given her name. "We search for our beloved...for our Sa."

Tay smiled despite being growled at. She didn't like to be growled at, but she wasn't the sort of lioness to growl back at someone, even if they were growling at her. She was much more the sort to try to figure out what was making them unhappy and the do everything in her power to make them happy.
"Oh, that's wonderful!" she exclaimed upon hearing of the older lioness's search, unable to help herself. "I mean, it's not wonderful that you can't find him. That's horrible. But that you have a beloved. I think that's really wonderful."
Tay was more than a bit of a romantic at heart, and she truly believed that there was someone out there for everyone, and that someone would love them unconditionally and forever. She thought she might have found someone that she felt that way about, beyond the usual love she felt for everyone, but she really had no idea how he felt about her, and that made her anxious and a little sick to her stomach to think about. She'd much rather think about the new lioness's beloved.
"Maybe he hasn't forsaken you. Maybe he's just not here and the timing's a bit off?" She didn't say that she didn't know any lion by that name. It seemed like the sort of news which would make Hathor angrier and more unhappy, and Tay didn't like to be the bearer of bad news.
Her ears flattened briefly as she realized to her dismay that she'd forgotten to introduce herself. That had been thoughtless of her, and if there was one thing Tay tried never to be, it was thoughtless. Hoping to remedy that and also shift the topic away from her complete lack of knowledge regarding Hathor's missing love, she said, "I'm Hiimatayt. Most people call me Tay. You're welcome to call me either. Or something else, if you prefer."

Hathor calmed a little more when the lioness smiled at her. She couldn't help but warmup to her slightly. Her mother always did that just smiled at her and made her cave. She looked away a moment from the other lioness she was confused still why she hadn't been able to find him. She had spent the better part of the day her heart felt like it was breaking.
She began to think more and more that he had forsaken her and no longer wished to be her beloved but that stupid little whiny weak little females beloved instead. Her blood began to boil and she took several deep breaths partly ignoring what the other female had been saying till she started to ay more attention.
Hathor blinked as she listened to the female as she rambled about things being wonderful how where the wonderful she was about to growl when she said that it was horrible she couldn't find him.
"We used to have many beloveds but now he and mother is only ones left...We need more beloveds." she said before her lips pulled back into a slight smirk as she moved closer to the female. "We wish you to be our new beloved."
"We know beloved is avoid us for reasons. Reasons he should for not to get our wrath." She said sternly as he tail flicked in annoyance behind her. "We want more beloveds say you will be ours." she said getting a bit pushy now.
"Be our beloved Hiimatayt." She said purring at the other female the thought of rubbing it into her brother face on getting more love then him started to sound very good at that point. To make him think she no longer needed him yes that is what she would do to make him suffer.

Tay began to wonder if perhaps she had misunderstood what Hathor meant when she talked about her beloved. Tay had assumed that she meant a lion who she hoped one day to spend the rest of her life with. That was what Tay meant when she thought of someone as her beloved. Not that she had anyone to think of that way. But if she did, that'd be the way she thought of them.
It seemed like Hathor meant it differently though. The idea of having many beloveds, one of which was male and the other was her mother. Those were two different kinds of love. At least, Tay thought they were. Tay was capable of comprehending an unlimited variety of loves because she loved everyone, but she loved her family differently than she loved her friends and...well, there were differences. But maybe Hathor didn't mean the same thing?
"I'm sure he's not avoiding you," Tay insisted, but she didn't have more to say than that.
Hathor's next demand took her by surprise, and all she could do was squeak her startlement. "Um. I can't really say that. We can be friends though. I'd like to be your friend."

Hathor wasn't expecting that reaction at all she was getting rusty. She thought about glaring at the female but pushed it from her mind as she watched her closely. Ok it wasn't a complete lost the female had said yes though not as quickly as she had liked. She really was loosing her touch. Her ears rested again her head what was she doing why hadn't she left yet she usually didn't stay this long when on a mission. She looked at the female a moment her ears perking back up.
"Yes friend..." She said her lips slowly pulling into a smile as she pressed her head against Tay softly before moving past her. "We wish for you to help us find our beloved." she said with a smile before she stopped and looked back to the female. "We would be very pleased if you do this for us."

Despite what some of her more canny and cagey friends might say, Tay was not actually stupid. She was cheerful and pleasant and accommodating, but that didn't mean she was stupid. It only meant she liked to please others and brighten their day if she was able, and that she tended to feel bad if she wasn't able to do so. She was actually pretty good at reading normal body language and picking up on regular nonverbal cues.
One of the reasons Hathor put her so off-balance was that she did not give any of the usual signs and her mannerisms when she spoke were a little confusing. However, she did have an unfortunate habit of accepting friendship at face value. If a lion declared herself Tay's friend, Tay would not doubt their friendship, and tended to assume that they would be as good a friend to her as she would be to them, though she was never disappointed if she was mistaken. She took the blame on herself.
When Hathor called Tay her friend and smiled, Tay decided that she had navigated this encounter successfully and was pleased that she had made a new friend. It was really all about trying to understand other people, even when their manners were off-putting at first. This was a lesson she could use as a nanny, too. How fortunate that she had met Hathor!
"Of course!" Tay agreed. "I'd be happy to help. I know lots of people in the pride, and I'm sure one of them will know where he is, or else know someone else who might. Let's get started!"

Hathor was quite pleased with the females reaction to searching for her brother. This would go a lot quicker and smoother and with luck hopefully the two females would catch a break in finding where the scribe was.
"We believe he works in the temples. Reading the words of the gods. We...could be wrong though." She said before quickly pushing thought of being wrong out of her mind. She was never wrong though she was not certain she hadn't seen him in a long time now he could have changed jobs. She at least knew he was still here and still called it his home. After all he had that little annoying lioness waiting for him back in his den. She began to get huffy remembering their encounter.
"We need to find him before she dose." She said looking to the other female. "We shall go ahead we shall look for him in the temples if we do not find him there...then we do not know where to look." She said hoping the other would have an idea on where they might find the Scribe.

"We can start there, then," Tay said.
Secretly, she would enjoy going to the temples anyway because there was always a chance she might catch a glimpse of Sutekh if she went in there. She didn't know what it was about the serious grey lion that so thrilled her, but she did know that whenever she saw him her heart beat faster and she would do anything or say anything to make him smile.
Of course, Sutekh was training now to be a priest, which was a lot of work, so maybe he wouldn't be there. But maybe he would be and they could ask him about Hathor's missing love. Tay hadn't quite gotten that he was a scribe from the older lioness's description, and had assumed he was a priest, though it was possible Sutekh would know the lion if he was a scribe, too, since he'd trained as a scribe for a little before he'd changed to the priesthood.
"Perhaps we'll find him there. I'm sure we will," she said confidently. "And if we don't, someone there will be able to tell us where to look. Everything's going to work out all right."
She smiled and set off in the direction of the temple, eager to assist her new friend in her quest and also to maybe see the object of her crush. She was glad she'd met Hathor, and hoped that she'd be able to help her. It was sad that she didn't know where her beloved was.
We could probably end it with the two of them going off to the temple, if you like. That way we don't have to bring in NPCs or anything like that.
