So browsing through guilds I'm in and whatnot and I stumbled across a couple threads and a who mass of people claiming to be fae or elven or whatnot. I personally do not believe Otherkin as I have come to understand it exsist. I have come to understand that Otherkin are supernatural souls/spirits in a human body, like an elf was being reincarnated but ended up in a human body.
Furries are a different story. Until you get the people saying they're a shapeshifter or some supernatural hybrid(I actually draw the line where I would only consider few hybrids to be true). Or the furries that try to say they're a freaking Pokemon.
But I was just wondering what you guys thought on the topic.

I have absolutely no use for the term "otherkin". I think it's escapist, essentially; I don't care what you may or may not have been previously, here and now you are human so don't try to tell me you aren't. I know people don't like to associate with humanity, but you have to suck it up and deal with the fact that you are a member of a species that sucks. If you were really a wolf deep down, why aren't you living in the woods or something? Particularly the "I'm a faerie!" people. Nine times out of ten they have very little idea of what fae are.
The people who sense things like a tail or wings I'm fine with, because they're not trying to tell me they're sekritly a budgie or something.
But I haaaaaaate the term "otherkin" with a fiery passion.

This is something I actually wanted to ask people about too. Because ever since I was probably six I think it was(sorry it's after 7 in the morning and I haven't slept yet sweatdrop ) I've felt like I've had wings. I always thought it was my imagination. But there was also a period of time while I was in middle school and through high school it felt like I had chains holding them down against my body. A couple of my friends kept trying to tell me I'm a Valkyrie whenever I bring it up. I only really want to know why I keep feeling like I have them though if it's not just my imagination. If it is then I have one persistation imagination.

If it is then I have one persistation imagination. Jesus christ hit them with something next time they try to tell you you're a Valkyrie. That's worse than a bloody faerie. I bet they have this mental picture of women with giant boobs in gold plate armour with wings on their helmets. I have wings. Wanted to get them tattooed on my back, on the basis that maybe if they had some sort of visual equivalent maybe they'd feel less weird on my shoulderblades. But maybe that's silly. Never thought it had anything to do with "otherkin" until someone mentioned it to me once. I got all shirty about it. Someone else called them something years ago that stuck in my mind so I used to think of them that way, but now I can't remember what they called them. It'll come to me. Interesting thought on the matter of wings: I've often suspected that their state reflects in some way your mental or emotional state. Just an idea, of course, but your mention of the chains made me think of it.

Just an idea, of course, but your mention of the chains made me think of it. Oh I've wanted to. The one thinks he's some wolf demon overlord and the demon keeper of death and the other one thinks he's some all powerful vampire warlock grim reaper. It's like "Guys I love you but really? Really? Why? It was cute for the first week or so when we were just messing around." But yay I'm not the only one. The tattoo thing would be a cool idea. I would try if I wasn't scared of needles and the pain. But I've felt them so long that I just got used to the feel so it doesn't really bother me much. That's a very interesting idea on the wings reflecting mental/emotional state. But maybe it could possibly only at certain times? I think that, if it is true, only because I know I've hit emotional highs and lows and an almost broken mental state(possibly) but I've only felt the chains once since out of high school until I had put the chains around myself as protective energy.

Quite right, I agree. It's in the "hmm" stage as far as ideas go; it's a possibility. But certainly it's not always the case.

Though thinking more about it it could be that I could have been focusing more on what was going on than what my wings felt at that moment then when I did think about things had calmed down.
Out of curiousity, do you have an idea of what yours would look like?

Feathery. Beyond that I have to be honest, it's not something I'd like to discuss on a personal level in much detail.

I was actually thinking about that when I was sitting at Denny's like two hours ago. While I was in Florida during Bike Week and I wanted to get a new hoodie since my AFI hoodie was starting to fray a bit(I beat my hoodies up but I love them to death) and me and my stepmom were looking through the shops and whatnot since she wanted one too and I wish I could have gotten the first hoodie I saw but it was going to be around $100 and I'm like nah dude but it had purple flames on the sleeves and purple angel wings on the back. We ended up going to more places and I did find another hoodie with wings on the back. I'm actually wearing it right now. But I like the idea of painting/stitching them. I might try to work up to that if this hoodie starts falling apart(which I hope won't happen).
