Sailor Pasiphae raced down the street, certain that she had felt an energy that belonged to someone in the Negaverse not too far away. She had only waited a few moments to henshin properly before setting off towards the source... but those seconds had come at a cost.
She could barely believe the scene before her. Gone... the Negaverse agent was gone! Whoever it was had gotten away and left only drained victims behind. Her gloved hands curled into fists as she surveyed the damage, but thankfully it didn't look like anyone suffered severe physical injuries. But the question still remained... how did she even begin to help now, when she was too late to stop the attack?

Even as Atlas was doing so, he couldn't believe he was sprinting towards the dark presence that had slipped into his awareness while he was patrolling the plaza. His usual temptation had typically been to do the exact opposite: whenever an agent of the Negaverse was around, he did not want to be there. The thought of facing up against them had absolutely horrified him. It still did, actually, and it was with a deep sense of dread and an expectation of impending disaster that he made his way in the general direction he thought the power signature was coming from.
It was a strange turn of events, then, that when he rounded that last corner the Negaverse presence was suddenly gone. Disappeared entirely. they hadn't run away, they had simply blinked out of existence. What had happened?
As he drew closer, he noticed the presence of another senshi nearby. She wasn't familiar to him, and by the looks of her she was at the beginner-level -- and yet, seeing her there, but no Negaverser, made Atlas wonder... had she defeated them? Is that why there was no trace of them left in the area? Maybe Negaversers disintegrated into dust when they were beaten, just like their youma. It would certainly solve a lot of problems if they did.
His back was to the group of fallen civilians as he took a few tentative steps towards the red-and-grey senshi. "Excuse me," he said, "er... do you know what's going on over here?"

Sailor Pasiphae heard someone enter the area and turned quickly to face whoever it was. The energy signature did not feel like someone from the Negaverse, but she was on edge after seeing the civilians so affected. She immediately relaxed, however, at the sight of what could only be another Senshi. The male Senshi looked... kind. His dress aside (neat and tidy as it was, which immediately caught her eye), his expression and polite question left her with the impression that he was gentle.
She eventually forced a small smile on her face to get introductions out of the way and catch him upt to speed. Well, as up to speed as she could, given her own knowledge of what was going on. She explained, "I'm Sailor Pasiphae; I felt a dark presence and came to investigate. I had to henshin first and..."
Her voice dropped, sadness causing her smile, forced as it had been, to disappear. "By the time I got here... I found everybody like this, drained of their energy. Whoever the culprit is... got away before I arrived."

So it was a case of the Negaverse getting away... Atlas furrowed his brow a bit; weren't there stories of them being able to vanish into thin air? He didn't know what to make of it. Maybe it was a myth to make an already scary group of people scarier. Unless he witnessed it himself, it wouldn't be something he'd know for certain. And wondering just how the culprit disappeared was not important right now.
There was the aftermath to consider. At Pasiphae's description, he turned around to scan the scene of the crime: it was a little Italian Ice cart, presumably taking advantage of the summer heat to sell some of its wares. Draped over the cart and listlessly slumped on the ground in front of it were the vendors and five or six more people, looking to the untrained eye like they were suffering from heat stroke. The ground was a mess, with the colorful frozen treat spilled and melting everywhere.
"Oh, no..."
Wait. Was oh no a bad thing to say to a new senshi? After all, it wasn't as if she was responsible for what had happened -- he didn't want to give her the impression that he thought she did, either.
"Well..." he started again, chewing at his lip for a second, "let's... let's think about this. It's too late to do anything about the Negaverse now." Which made him feel a small swell of guilt: maybe if he'd hesitated less in acting, it wouldn't have been too late. "But if it's just their energy that's been stolen, we can do something to help."

It was kind of him not to blame her, but that did not mean that Pasiphae did not blame herself. Staring at the damage around her, she wondered if the people lying around her had suffered. The melting Italian ice formed a sticky, destroyed rainbow, and that matched fairly well with what had occurred, at least in the teenager's imagination. These people had just come to enjoy a summer day, maybe to enjoy a sweet treat, and that brightness had suddenly exploded into a waking nightmare.
What could she do for them now? What could she do to help these people? They had (unconsciously, even she had to admit) depended on her, and she had only let them down. Sure, she could beat a youma--with help from someone else like ********* or under the watchful eye of Chaonis--but she remembered, only too well, how she had done against the one Negaverse agent she had met.
When the male Senshi spoke, she instinctively turned to him for guidance, grateful that someone more experienced had come on scene. Surely he would know what to do, and she was eager to learn. Even more than that--she was ready to do whatever she could to aid them. Fixing her eyes directly onto the other Senshi's face, as she asked "What can we do? How can we help them?"

"Let's... let's see if any of them are still awake first, okay?" he suggested. "Then we can see about calling an ambulance for them or something."
In all honesty, Atlas was just as clueless about this as Pasiphae was. Whenever a civilian showed up without a star seed, the fact of the matter had always been that there was no hope left for him. Having their energy stolen, on the other hand, was a apparently different case -- he just had no idea how different. Hopefully it was enough that the victims would be able to come out of this alive.
"Is there a payphone nearby? Or maybe one of them has a cellphone... or we could power down and use our own, I guess..." The volume of his voice was decreasing to a mutter, and then a mumble as he considered the options, all the while kneeling down on the pavement to check on one of the civilians. He really had no experience in this sort of thing, but it shouldn't be that difficult to at least see if they were still breathing... right?

Pasiphae's eyebrows knit in confusion, but she took the male Senshi's muttering and mumbling as a sign that he was in deep thought, rather than nervous. Or, if she admitted to herself that he did sound nervous, she chalked it up to having to deal with a relative newbie like herself. "That's a good idea - we probably shouldn't power down, not yet, just in case whatever it was comes back... but by the time we're done checking everyone, maybe it'll be safe to power down and call?"
Or maybe it would be better if they didn't power down at all. Pasiphae recalled vividly the first warning she had been given as a Senshi by Chaonis, never to reveal her identity, or at least to be careful to who she gave it to. Maybe her current companion would feel the same and not want to trust her. Yet, she was not familiar enough with the area to know if there was a pay phone with which to call the hospital. Her brain raced as she considered their options, but she distracted herself by following "orders" and kneeling beside the victim nearest her, a young girl that couldn't be more than 10 or 11 years old. She was glad to find a pulse whenever she checked the girl's throat, but she was just as sure that the girl was unconscious. Pasiphae reported as much, rising to her feet and moving towards the male lying beside the girl, "The little girl here is alive, but not awake. I'll check this guy beside her, and then move on to that old lady over there."

Sailor Atlas had another child's wrist in his hand, at some fumbling attempt at checking for their pulse, as he listened to and considered Pasiphae's response and suggestion. "That sounds like the best thing to do if everyone's okay," he replied. This Sailor Pasiphae seemed like a nice, practical, careful person even if she was a little nervous -- though really, that put the two of them in the same psychological boat. He was glad to meet another senshi besides Alcyone who prioritized thinking over acting, at any rate.
"Let me know if you find anyone who seems to be in bad shape, though." He glanced a bit worrisomely over at the older woman his companion was currently taking a look at. Was losing life energy more dangerous for people more prone to health risks? It was a strange, and somewhat morbid thing to think about.

Pasiphae nodded to show that she had heard her companion's acceptance of her half-plan, and she moved from the man (the girl's father, she wondered?) to the older woman beside them to check on her vital signs. So far, the injured parties seemed to be stable, not in immediate danger... she prayed that the trend would continue.
Yet, almost as soon as she approached the next civilian, she knew that something was different. The elderly woman's skin was covered in sweat, and her breathing was labored. When the Senshi checked for a pulse she found that it was racing, and she called over to the male Senshi in a rush, "We need to get her to a doctor quickly!"

Uh-oh. Uh-oh. Bad news. The woman under Pasiphae's examination was, for a brief moment, almost not the only one with labored breathing as Atlas fought to keep his composure in check. It seemed like there were times his constant, general feel of dread was something worth paying attention to. He wasn't actually expecting an emergency situation to arise from all this!
With the less experienced senshi acting as his partner for the say, he even felt more responsible for the situation than he might have otherwise. Is this how Alba felt all the time when she was being the rational and practical member of the group? He had to stay calm. If there was one thing he'd learned during his time as a senshi, it was that he couldn't allow his anxiety to make life harder for someone else!
"Th-there isn't a hospital nearby," he replied. "So you need to keep watch here while I power down and call an ambulance. If anything else happens, we'll figure something out, I promise."
There was no time to waste. As soon as he'd finished explaining things he'd gone to dash behind a building, his hand digging around for his cell phone before his pocket had even fully reappeared.

Pasiphae nodded, looking up briefly to show the other Senshi that she had heard his orders. He wasn't the only one feeling anxious. She didn't know what to do, really; she had never studied first aid of any kind. She bit her lip, trying to keep this nervousness out of her voice as she responded, "Please... be quick."
She turned back to the victim before her now, keeping her gloved fingers pressed to her throat to moniter her pulse. "You're going to be okay, ma'am... we're going to help you." She didn't know why she said it. The old woman was, as best she knew, unconcious and incapable of hearing anything she had to say. It made Pasiphae feel better, however, even if she only spoke the words for herself. She averted her eyes from the direction her fellow Senshi had run in, not wanting to risk compromising his hidden identity as he called for help. This had the added bonus of allowing her to peer aroudn the area, just to make sure whoever caused this damage didn't return.

Talking to the ambulance dispatcher took some time. However, Simon was able to tame his stuttering and babbling just enough to get the right information across without it taking too long. While his form was lurched around his cell phone, trying to remember the street they were on and what the name of the business they were in front of was, he kept glancing furtively back over at the junior senshi with a laundry list of worries on his mind.
"Okay," he said, after he hung up and jogged back over to the scene. "Okay. I got a hold of someone. They should be here soon." A hand reached up somewhat awkwardly to rub at the back of his neck. "You should probably go somewhere to power down... otherwise you might become a suspect. I didn't tell them I saw any senshi."
Now all that was left was a nervous, awkward wait. His favorite flavor.

The teenaged girl tensed as a strange boy approached the scene, but as soon as she spoke about calling for help and powering down, she relaxed. It was only the male Senshi she had been working with sans his powers.
Sailor Pasiphae hesitated only a moment when he suggested that she return to her civilian look, mindful about what Chaonis had told her when she was first beginning as a Senshi. You had to be careful who you revealed your true identity to; she had taken this advice, as she took all his advice, very seriously and never broken out of her power form, not even for Kallichore or Europa, her fellow Jovian Senshi. This time, however... there were extenuating circumstances, and if she couldn't trust a fellow Senshi... then who could she trust?
She rose from her spot beside the elderly woman, her voice soft as she spoke to her companion, "Sure. I'll be right back... we'll just have to watch her in the meantime and hope for the best."
With that, she ran off to find a place to change. Sailor Pasiphae had done all she could... time for Penelope Seneca to take a swing at it.

A brief moment and even briefer flash of light later, there were two perfectly normal civilians on the street: one pale and petite, the other tall and dark, both varying degrees of awkward. Simon offered a little wave as the unpowered side of Pasiphae returned, the greeting allowing him to confirm who he was seeing.
"They should be here any minute," he repeated, as much a reassurance for himself as it was for the girl. "That... that was Sailor Atlas earlier, by the way. I'm Simon."
He offered a strained smile. If he weren't busy making sure the elderly victim's vital signs were still intact, he would have offered a handshake. At the very least, it seemed a little bit of luck was on their side that afternoon, as the minute they were waiting for didn't take too long to arrive. Their thoughts were soon drowned out by the noise of sirens as the ambulance pulled in and took matters into their own (more professional) hands.
Which illicited an audible sigh of relief from Simon, even with the sirens.
"I guess that's that," he mused, rubbing the back of his neck with a hand. "Now I need to get back across town and do normal-person stuff. But you can call Atlas if you ever... need help again. Or something. Sounds good?"

Penelope was more awkward now that she no longer had her glamour to hide behind, but her small smile was friendly as she returned her companion's wave. She was still highly concerned for the elderly woman that they were watching, but she knew that they had done all they could do. Now... they just had to wait. Which meant that it was as good a time as any to get in their introductions.
She knelt beside Simon, seemingly unconcerned about her pressed pants as she replied softly, "Before... that was Sailor Pasiphae, Senshi of Shame. I'm Penelope." That was all she managed to say before the blaring of sirens indicated that the professionals had arrived to save the day. She was perhaps as relieved as Simon, and she nodded when he indicated that he needed to go. "You go ahead--I'm going to stay behind to make sure that everyone gets help. And... um... if you ever need Pasiphae... you can call too."
