A mysterious old woman who lives somewhere deep in the deserts of Sunagakure, appearing suddenly when there is a need for teachers or in an exceptional crisis. Legends of The Desert Hag are hundreds of years old and many do not believe this old woman is really the woman of legend, yet, it is undeniable that she possesses abilities on par with any legend.
She never reveals anything of her past and all questions of that nature are met with a silence dryer than the sun parched stone of the village's buildings. Though this is not to say she is a mute or unresponsive; she often offers wisdom to young shinobi and poses questions and dilemmas of morality and existence to the older ones. With The Desert Hag the only thing you can be assured of is the utter ambiguity of her words and existence and her immense power.
The most well known of the recent legends concerning how a fierce and mighty ninja from an obscure nation possessed by a raging demon attacked a trading caravan that was venturing through the desert. The Desert Hag, not only annoyed that the ninja dared to create violence so close to her dwelling but also fearing the damage to the village from a continued rampage should the ninja make it there, emerged and confronted the possessed man. She materialized in a gust of sand (so say the traders) and called forth pulsing and swirling rays of purple light shaped like swords without hilts and tore the possessed ninja to shreds before reducing his corpse to ash and dust. The next thing the traders knew they were waking up in the Sunagakure hospital, no one, not the staff nor them knew how they got there, and The Desert Hag was comfortable once more, buried deep in the dunes of the desert.
