I'm seriously getting annoyed by people compairings things with Sailor Moon.
I am tired of people claiming that they copy or "inspired" by Sailor Moon
To me, you sound like bunch of obessed people that are scouting every thing on the net to pictures to news events, and make a big scene that this and this person copied Sailor Moon's this and that.
Really! Stop it! I love Sailor Moon, but I do not go looking for things that look like Sailor Moon. Who bleepin cares. Who gives a damn that it looks like something from Sailor Moon. Just stop posting crap everytime something looks like something from Sailor Moon.
It DOES NOT look like something from Sailor Moon! AND STOP SAYING THAT THIS AND THAT PERSON COPIED HER OR SAILOR MOON
/rant
I had to get this off my chest.

I'm like the only moonie in my entire company. sweatdrop I say anything about Sailor Moon and people are all like, "Sailor What?"
I really don't encounter such frequent comparatives, but maybe it's for the best. In reflection, I've always seen Sailor Moon as something unique, and I don't really attribute it to anything else, much less anything to it.
Then again my anime/manga fanbase is limited to about 20 or so titles/series. In contrast to the amount of anime/manga out there, I'm not really very exposed compared to some. Or maybe it's that I've never really read or watched much of the magical girl genre outside of Sailor Moon.

Well I don't mind the inspired thing so much personally. surprised Still, there is the whole Magical Girl genre as a whole that shares some of the same aspects as Sailor Moon, but that's why it's called a genre. There's things that fit in a genre and then there's outright copying. I think as long as it's not direct plagiarism there's really no need to say it copied off of SM. gonk of course it depends on how serious the comparison is and how offended people get by it. ninja Let's all agree not to flame! 3nodding

No no, I wasn't talking about anime copying Sailor Moon and the whole Magical Girl genre.
I was refering how people compare things in RL to Sailor Moon.
Lets say some found a Gucci ad with a girl wearing sunglasses that look like Mercury's visors. People will bring that up saying "OH! Those glasses look just like Mercury's visors." When the glasses themselves do not look anythign like Mercury's visors since the style itself is well known/popular.
What I am getting at is; I am tied of people comparing things. Not just Sailor Moon, but other things in general that are totally different and opposite of what they are comparing too.
I should have stated that earlier sweatdrop

That sounds like you're dealing with someone who's just a little too near sighted on what exactly SM is and isn't. surprised

Exactly. If it isn't Gaga's bow hairstyle, its a ringthat does not even look like Usagi's engagment ring. And I HIGHLY doubt the designer of Princess's Di's/Kate engagment ring is a Sailor Moon fan or Naoko got the idea from Di's ring >.> Style is popular stressed

As for the engagement ring, Princess Diana/Kate's ring isn't even an actual diamond. The actual gem is a large Sapphire with smaller diamonds around it. If anything, Princess Kate/Diana copied off the Hope Diamond, or did we forget about that? Hope Diamond: Princess Kate's Ring: It seems like we did. Usagi's ring isn't even blue, it's pink and heart shaped. The band is clearly different as well, or at least it is on the replica:

I thought the Gaga one was cute heart ..
Ring style is popular with one big stone in the center and diamonds around it. They both look familiar, but only thing that makes them different is the diamond cut. Hope has both square and round, where as Diana/Kate is round. Inspirataion no doubt. Maybe Di loved the ring and wanted one similar? Could be.
It dosen't bug me, its the fact people sometimes go over board with things in Sailor Moon world looking like stuff iin real world.

I don't really encounter this type of stuff in RL with Sailor Moon... maybe with other things, trying to get people to jump on to the show or book... "It's just like Twilight!" seems to be the marketing campaign of those "hot teenagers who know vampires/are vampires/fight vampires/have supernatural gifts" on CW. But with fashion, I find it to be all quite similar and feeding off of each other, you see someone with the bugeye sunglasses and if it catches on suddenly everyone wants them... just my opinion, not really a fashionista here ^^;
