Not long after Levi and Lizzy had left his room, Jericho got his things together to head on over to Riley's place. He was going to need to let her know that he won't be their official escort now since he was going to the Prom with the tatzel. Aside from that, there was still a bit of business he needed to take care of with her.
Before too long, the dragon was standing outside the Mindflayer's room. He knocked a couple times just to give her the heads up that he was there, then walked on in.
"Heey Riley," he called out while looking around. He quickly made sure to close the door behind him lest Cam accidentally escape again, leaving him in the darkness of the living room for the time being.

The living room was dark, but the light from the study filtered in brightly through the open doorway across the room. I'm in here, she muttered distractedly, without moving to get up from her desk.
A desk which was, of course, covered in books. She was studying, which was no surprise, but the topics she had been going through were diverse, and extraordinary. There was a great deal of mathematical tomes, filled with pages upon pages of almost unreadable information to those who lacked the intense knowledge of higher level mathematics. There were also several books on battle theory, laid out in an arc around her.
She had a licorice stick in one tentacle, idly chewing away, as she flipped from page to page, of all of the books, as if reading all of them at once.

Hearing Riley from the study, Jericho carefully made his way over to the other room, grinning as he saw his friend there. She looked like she was studying hard for her upcoming exam. He had been doing more or less the same earlier as well, and he'd have to get back to that later on.
The dragon also took note of the licorice she had. Warily, he glanced around, expecting a giant pile nearby. It didn't look like that was the case, so hopefully this meant she wasn't hopped up on sugar right about now.
"Er... hope I'm not disturbing you here. I could always come back later."

Every one of her books was closed simultaneously with a snap, by a tentacle, and she looked up at him curiously. Don't be ridiculous. Your presence is never a disturbance, it's always a pleasure. She looked up at the dragon boil curiously, turning her chair towards him before reaching her foot out and tugging the leg of a nearby empty chair closer.
Sit. She patted the chair softly. What is on your mind, my dear friend?
And of course, because Jericho knew better than to think Riley was just eating one licorice stick, she opened the drawer in front of her and pulled out the bag to offer him one.
Licorice? They are proving to be a wonderful substitute for abating my sugar cravings without overstimulating myself.

Smiling, Jericho went on and sat down when prompted before reaching over to grab another.
"Thanks," he grinned, secretly glad that she had found a substitute for straight up sugar. He nibbled on the stick, then went on to bring up the reasoning for his visit.
"Two things actually," he started, "The first is regarding Prom. I'll be taking Levi to that so I'm afraid I won't get to be your official bodyguard to the dance. Though... if something comes up, you can bet I'll be there in a heartbeat. You can count on me for that."

Riley's eyebrows shot up high as he admitted his choice for prom date, and Riley leaned in predatorily. Jericho, you have a prom date? Did you ask her? When did this happen? Do you enjoy her?
Riley had only met Levi once, and she seemed adequate.. she was no demon, but then again, that did mean she was no real threat to Riley. A mental note to find out more about the tatzel was silently shuffled into the back of her mind for later.
She patted his knee, trying to hide the euphoria that was sifting into her expression. Malodore will be so disappointed.

Blinking at Riley, Jericho paused for a moment as she practically barraged him with questions.
"Well.. I guess you could put it that way if you really want," he said while rubbing his chin, "I didn't really ask her. She and Lizzy were playing some games in my room and Lizzy tossed out the suggestion since Levi's original partner kinda flaked on her. And... it happened about a half hour ago really."
Shaking his head to himself, he chuckled lightly, "Well she does seem pretty nice. I don't know her all too well though."
"Well.. it isn't like I can't still hang out with you guys at the prom," he smiled, "Though, I'm sure I can make it up to it somehow. Got any ideas?"

Riley rolled her eyes and waved her hand in dismissal. Oh, don't be ridiculous. You know I'm just teasing you. It's wonderful that you have yourself a date. There is nothing to make up. She leaned back in her seat, and picked up her feet to drop down on his knees.
Do you know what you're going to wear yet? And you'd better not be late, this time. No dawdling, you shall pick her up promptly and escort her on time. Besides, I may need your help there, I will be so very busy.
She paused, and recollection had her taking her words back. Oh, in fact, I know you'll be punctual, because you are on the prom committee, aren't you? Hence you will be there to set up. Did Levi sign up as well?

Chuckling, Jericho took another nibble of the licorice while nodding to the Illithid.
"I have one thing in mind. I don't have the outfit yet though, but I should be able to pick it up without a problem," he said, "And yeah, I'll be there to help with the setup. As far as I know Levi isn't on the committee."
He took a moment to think about that to make sure he wasn't wrong. He supposed he could have overlooked something, but he felt that she wasn't a part of it.
"Any time you need my help, don't hesitate to snag me," he grinned, "Which... kinda brings us to the second reason for me coming here."
Though his expression took a little more serious as he said this, he still looked pretty content.
"I was serious about the marking thing during the open house. We got kind of caught up cleaning up and the stuff afterwards but don't think that I've forgotten."

Riley's expression fell in a moment of unmasked surprise, before firming back up again.
Oh.
She'd never expected Jericho to be this interested in getting her mark. There was an unexpected, and unwanted, flurry of emotions that filled her. She had stopped giving marks out after the continual fiascos with Christof, and had resorted to gaining allegiances the old fashioned way. But this.. this was different.
This was Jericho.
Her feet dropped onto the ground, and she leaned in, reaching down to grip his chairseat and pull it forcefully closer to her. The carpet muffled the sound of scraping. When he was close enough, she let go, and put both of her hands on his shoulders.
Jericho. She murmured affectionately. Are you sure about this? You know that.. that I don't need this. I want it.. She curbed herself, immediately regretting her honesty. But I don't need it. Don't do something you might regret.

Jericho sat there for a moment, staring into Riley's eyes, looking fairly determined. Normally he wouldn't be interested in getting a demon's mark and he had always been cautious regarding deals and handshakes with demons for that very reason.
"I don't think there's any mark that's truly needed," he started, "But I don't see how this would change anything. I'm going to support you no matter what. If you're fine with just my word alone, then we can leave it at that."
There was a short pause.
"But I do really mean it when I say that. Enough that I'm willing to go through this."

Maybe it was the touch of sugar running steadily through her system, but Riley was starting to think of this as a good idea. She fiddled with the end of a tentacle as she thought it over in silence, before her head dipped and lifted in a slow nod.
Take off your shirt.

Blinking at that, Jericho slowly took off his jacket and shirt, not really sure what this had to do with the marking thing. Was there something more to it than a handshake? Once he was done, he set them aside while being a little confused.
"Anyway, you remember what the deal was right? As long as you have my back, I'll have yours," he said.

I remember. Riley quirked in amusement, holding out her hand delicately for his. I will always have your back, Jericho.
Her fingers clenched inwards, in a moment of doubt. You know that this will mark your skin, right? You are aware of how it works?

"Yeah I know. Is.. that why you had me take off my shirt?" he asked with a raised brow. Did it stain clothing or something upon first appearing? Little details like that, he wasn't so sure of. Either way, Jericho held his hand out for Riley, waiting for her to take the hand.
"Anyway, it's a deal."
