Negaverse Power: What It Is and How It Works!
Like its military structure, the dark energy which powers the Negaverse operates on a chain of command. Most agents draw their power from Queen Beryl, who in turn receives her power directly from Metallia. This does not instill any particular loyalty or connection with a person (your Lieutenant does not have to be eternally devoted to whichever agent corrupted them), but many choose to take on a guiding role to those they bring into the Negaverse.
General-Kings and Queens may obtain their power from either Queen Beryl or Metallia.
Negaverse power can be thought of as a string connecting each individual to the Chaos Seed (Metallia), through which an agent may channel energy. Every Chaos-powered creature has this connection, though the strength of it differs by rank. Thus, corruption of a person's starseed is similar to opening a door through which Chaos can enter. Beryl and other stage four characters typically have the strongest connections, overshadowed only by the strongest Greater Youma.
When an agent tries to access too much of this energy (eating too many starseeds/energy), the consequences can be dire.
Why must Negas rank up in order to channel more power?
If corruption is like opening a door to Chaos, then each rank up is like widening that space to allow more energy in. Like drilling a hole in a pane of glass, it must be done little by little or the starseed will shatter. Once this happens, there is no repairing it. As demonstrated by Linarite, a starseed can be repaired with enough power, but a youma's shattered starseed is lost forever. If a Nega tries to take in too much energy, it is like trying to fit an elephant into a garden hose; it just won't fit. The result is catastrophic. The connection is severed, and the individual becomes a youma.
