Friday. Thank ******** god. Zia had gotten used to drowning her sorrows after midnight when she didn't have to make early morning appearances, but she had gone an awfully long time without relief from ridiculous work hours. So tonight, after she was done getting patrol hours in, she gladly shifted back to being a human and walked into the nearest watering hole for a drink. Or several.
Normally Zia had incredibly snobby tastes when it came to her liquor, keeping her eye on the most expensive scotch in the house and settling for little else. But she seemed to pick a cheap place in a rough part of town this time, and the best in the house didn't look too fabulous. This secret wallowing at night she'd taken up this past month was already a break from her norm, she figured she could settle for a few tequila shots in lieu of that, right? It takes the edge off all the same.
And boy did she settle. It didn't take much before she was buying the entire bar rounds on her tab and striking goofy conversation about nothing. Looks like everyone here's drinking for free tonight!

There were bars that Nyasa regularly frequented, shady places with loud music and half-remembered faces. Recently she had been avoiding them, visiting them only when she didn’t have the time to venture out further. Tonight… well, tonight she had made the time. Granted, this place was only marginally better then her usual haunts, but it least it was different.
Nyasa had been content grinding on nameless no bodies when the first round was ordered. Free drinks were free drinks, so she wasn’t about to complain. If anything, Nyasa felt the urge to find the buyer and make sure they stayed conscious long enough to buy more rounds.
Weaving her way through the crowds, Nyasa soon found a girl that didn’t quite fit. Coupled with the fact that she seemed well-sloshed, Nyasa was willing to bet that this was the generous patron.
“ Well, hello there. Enjoying yourself?”
Nyasa almost liked this girl already, whoever she was, what with her free-flowing money and pretty purple hair.

"Hm?" Zia turned to the pretty girl addressing her, flopping her chin in her palm for support. "Well," She started to answer, picking up a shot glass and holding it up a little. "You could say I'm getting there," She laughed, maybe a little too loudly, and downed shot with little hesitation.
"Are you? I'd hate to think I'm spending my money on nothing," She pouted, ignoring the fact a lot of her spending habits were rooted in childish daddy issues rather than straight up good will.
If getting everyone around her wasted counted as good will.
"I'm Zia," She said, offering an unsteady hand to shake.

“ There’s music, free drinks, and hot bodies; what’s not to like?”
Not like Nyasa would admit to any serious issues or lack of enjoyment, especially not to a stranger, even if said stranger was drunk.
“ Nyasa.” She said, shaking the offered hand before sliding easily into a nearby chair.
“ Nothing? Hard to spend money on nothing, ‘specially in a bar.” A barely-there smile pulled at Nyasa’s lips as she tilted her head towards the dance floor. “ You’ve bought some good will and could probably bag yourself something to warm your bed, if you’re looking for that.”
A bit straightforward, a bit crude, but Nyasa didn’t care. If her comments flustered the other woman then it would entertain Nyasa, and if they didn’t then it meant she wouldn’t have to worry about censoring herself too much; win-win. Besides, what she said was true: at least a couple of pairs of eyes were watching their table with interest.

"That's true," Zia said with a laugh. She probably wouldn't be when she sobered up and looked over her tab, but for now, she was getting pretty upbeat. Well, until Nyasa's next comment.
Normally, she definitely would've been flustered, but not tonight, and not this intoxicated state. Instead she just kind of sighted and leaned her elbow on the bar, giving a cursory glance in response to a pair of those eyes.
"To be honest, I'm not very good at any of this," She complained. It was less the drinking and more the venue. Zia had never been much of a bar hopper and could possibly even be counted as sheltered. Flirting? Dancing? She sucked at it all normally, and turning off her brain hadn't been as helpful as she thought it might be in that.

Nyasa couldn't say that she was surprised by Zia's confession.
" Well, do you want to be good at it? Never too late to learn."
Oh yes, she could teach her. Maybe not your traditional flirting, but she could teach the clueless girl how to dance in such a way that she'd get some attention. It didn't hurt that the girl wasn't half-bad looking. She had potential.
" Learning to dance would be a good start."

Zia stopped and just looked like a deer in the headlights at the offer. Normally she was embarrassed to be this clueless, but in this case there wasn't much she could do about it. At least in other, more familiar situations she could at least bullshit herself into some level of confidence, but this 'having fun' in a place like this usually only meant she was going to make an a** of herself.
"Okay," She answered, obviously more go-with-the-flowy tonight than normal.
She hopped off her seat and leaned against the bar, one hand on her hip as she faced Nyasa, "Are you up for the challenge of teaching me?"

" I never back down from a challenge."
Not entirely true, but close enough in this case. Nyasa got up let her shoulder brush against Zia as she sauntered passed her, making her way to the edge of the dance floor.
" Coming?"
Nyasa's body began to sway slightly, instinctively tuning in to the rhythm, pulse picking up slightly with anticipation. Dancing by itself was good, but dancing with fresh meat was always better.

Zia's brow raised as Nyasa brushed past her and she followed after, only a step behind her.
Maybe the fresh meat'll learn a thing or two tonight.
