As Barth returned to Amityville, even before stopping by his room, he knew there was something he needed to do. He'd been to two dances so far, one that was demon-exclusive, and one he'd been roped into with other obligations. But not this time. This time, he was going to ask the ghoul he really wanted to go with.

The bad thing was that he was not in particularly good straits with Lilith. He'd thought things were going well. Minipets class had been a step forward. But then there'd been the screw up with the NAP meeting, and while he'd hoped she would show at the paintball game, she hadn't. Then he'd been gone, and hadn't told her. So he was working with strikes against him.

He was harried, sick of stair-climbing and mystery solving, and there was only one thing he wanted more than home and bed.

So from the school gates he made the long, slow, tedious trek to the Reaper dorms, and from there to Lilith's door. He straightened, adjusting his coat. He hadn't freshed up, and looked worse for the wear. But there were only a few days left until prom.

He knocked.

Lilith hadn't been expecting company when there was a knock on the door. Normally it wouldn't be such a problem to get up and yell at whoever was knocking, but the young reaper had been lazing on the bed under a sleeping pile of follyjoxes. They weren't going to be quite so happy if she moved, but Lilith wasn't going to be quite so pleased if the knocking continued. It was slow, but she figured if she moved them slowly and one by one that they would just keep sleeping and eventually she piled them beside her on the bed and sat up.

She slipped a robe over herself and then stood up off the bed, giving the nearest sleeping follyjox a rub over the top of its head with a small smile. They were such sweet, innocent things. She was probably admiring them what was a good minute before she remembered the door had knocked. If any luck, the person would be gone and she would open the door to find nothing there. So she wandered over, and carefully opened the door to reveal herself in a short robe and a pair of smooth legs. However, what she was looking at wasn't a piece of empty space but a demon whom she wasn't very happy to see.

"What do you want?" She asked in the friendliest manner she could fathom. It wasn't very friendly. It was friendlier than she might have been to someone who wasn't one of her avarice demons but she wasn't the most pleased about it at the moment either. Everything the sloth demon worried about, the reaper was holding over his head in a count.

"To apologize?" Barth squeaked, not really expecting her to be in a forgiving mood. He knew the odds were stacked against him, and that Lilith could be...exacting. "And err, come in for a bit? Sorry if I'm a mess."

He did his best to look sorry and pathetic. Neither were hard.
PostPosted: Tue Jun 21, 2011 10:15 pm

Lilith looked at him and stared, her blue eyes piercing into his body for a moment. She thought about it and had it been anyone else she probably would have slammed the door on his face. Instead, she thought about it. He looked absolutely pathetic, and sorry, and he was still adorable. Well, she'd give him a minute, or two. If he couldn't plead his case then she'd have to suggest he go bunk with a certain raven demon. She swung the door open, allowing him to step inside if he wanted.

"Make it good," she said.

At this point, pairs upon pairs of eyes were staring at him including Lilith's. It seemed the jollyfoxes had been woken up.

Barth edged inside, giving the follyjoxes a glance and a wobbly smile. "Err, hello," he said to them.

Alright, apologizing. Christof was good at groveling, wasn't he? Barth had some practice in that department, although he wasn't sure how much good it would do. There was more on his mind than apologizing anyway, but it was a good place to start. He straightened again.

"I walked here," he said, with weight. "Because it was important. And you're important. I know that I can be...neglectful. And that I'm not...the strongest or the best to have around in survival situations. But Christof was punished. For shooting you. Not for the rest of the club, I didn't mind about any of that." He swallowed. "You're who I care about."

Lilith closed the door and with it two heads peeked out from under Lilith's bed, four eyes staring at the sloth demon with hatred while the others looked on with interest. He was the one who did all the bad things and while Lilith listened to the sloth demon's apology, the two zombiejoxes began to sneak towards him until they were able to latch onto his ankles. They were just about to when, without looking down, stopped them with a single command.

"Hold it," she said. Was she talking to the sloth demon? It didn't seem like it. Things were getting interesting. It was rare that he would walk further than necessary, but he walked here? And climbed all those stairs? It was a lot of stairs, all the way up the tower, before he could have even gotten to her room. She was important, yes, she was. She wasn't modest about it. She smiled a little at him.

"Go on," she leaned back against the door, crossing one leg over the other as her arms crossed over her chest.

Barth had not, in fact, walked all the way to the top of a tower. He was incapable of it. He had, however, invented a device to do it for him (which consisted of a flat, narrow board, like a skateboard, and notched wheels). And while it had stalled on the massive amount of stairs at the other tower he was tasked with climbing, it had done alright with the Reaper dorm's three flights. He had left the device back near the top of the stairs.

Lilith didn't have to know about it, but the distance helped his case.

He tried not to stare as Lilith crossed her legs, and didn't do a good job of it. The short, fluffy robe wasn't helping.

"I would have come over sooner," he managed, refocusing on Lilith's eyes and leaning exhaustedly against the closed door instead, "but I was called out of town. This was the first place I came. I know I'm...all those things. Unreliable and indecisive and... Well. You can see..." he swirled a claw vaguely at his chest. "You know how...what I am. And I know you haven't...reached a decision. About our status." That was maybe his only saving grace, that she hadn't contacted him and told him they were through. In spite of the mishaps.

"But be that as it may, there's something I've been meaning...err, that is, I know...even if it weren't in an officiated capacity..." he blithered, trying to find his nerve.

The zombiejoxes weren't all the pleased about the sloth demon but they were obedient to Lilith's command. They weren't silent about it, growling at him as he spoke, hoping Lilith would kick him out already and come back on the bed with them. What did Lilith see in him? They sure didn't understand. They were five times the man he'd ever be plus they were cute and fluffy with tentacle goodness.

Whether or not they were unhappy about it, Lilith smirked slightly when he said she was the first place he went to when he came back. It didn't make up for the fact he disappeared so suddenly without telling her, but it softened the blow she might give him. It was hard to stay mad at him when he was spilling his demon guts all over her new rug for her. Unfortunately, she wa sa lot less open than he was.

"And that is?" She asked bluntly, uncrossing her legs to turn and face the demon.

The uncrossing was just as distracting, if not more so, as the initial leg-crossing had been. Barth was aware his build-up was not quite right. It was lacking in romance, and suaveness, and any kind of preparation.

The follyjoxes were purring, at least, which he took to be a good sign.

"There's only one person I want to go to prom with," he said, finally. "Any dance, really. Since the start of the year. I know this isn't much advance notice, and there are only a few days, and that you've probably got someone already. But anyway...would you? Go with me." There. He'd said it. He waited for Lilith, on edge.

The prom eh.

Lilith leaned over as the holyjox landed in front of her with almost a mixture of a bark and mewl. They were getting anxious and Lilith couldn't just ignore their attempts for her attention, especially not when they did that. She ran her hand over its head, making sure to scratch behind its ear as she did so. However, it wasn't long before it became unsatisfied with just having her hand on it and using its wings to boost itself up and into Lilith's arms. It licked her face, and wrapped its little tentacle paws over her shoulders in an attempt to cling to her. So she carried over to the bed and sat down, sitting on her feed as she crossed her legs over them, and placing the follyjox in her lap. It didn't take long before all of the others began to swarm around her snt are at the sloth demon.

"Well," she said. "While you were gone Draven and I smoothed things over."

It wasn't true, but hey, he left her and let her get covered in paint.

"Oh," Barth said, visibly wilting. Draven again. What did she see in that guy? Smooth tan, muscles? The ability to do things like walk up stairs and do basic tasks? That thought stung. It didn't matter. He didn't care who she was dating.

"Err, ditch him?" he suggested.

PostPosted: Wed Jun 22, 2011 12:20 am

That was just the response Lilith was looking for. She didn't need a man who didn't know what he wanted, who didn't remember what he wanted, one who changed his mind so readily and forgot her. There was no way she'd consider Draven, not unless he started to climb up the side of the tower to her window repeatedly after she kept pushing him out. Each time he'd have to bring her something nicer and heavier and even then she wasn't going to forgive him. But Draven wasn't here but her sloth demon was and she smiled sweetly at him.

"Will do, now c'mere," she said, holding her hand out towards him.

...And that was the response Barth was looking for. He pried himself off the support of the door, and came forward gratefully, carefully wading through the follyjox before taking her hand.

He would have sat down, but the bed...and Lilith...were on the occupied side.
PostPosted: Wed Jun 22, 2011 12:36 am

Lilith had used the time the demon took to get over to her to move the holyjox off her lap as well as slide her legs over the edge of the bed. It didn't matter if there was room on her bed for him to sit down or now because she wouldn't have given the demon a chance to sit down even if he had wanted to. The moment his hand touched her she used it to pull him forward and down to her level until her face was close to his. She was close and she was most definitely breathing against his skin and she whispered.

"So are you gonna kiss me, or not?"

He smiled, leaned forward, and answered her.

He hoped she had made up with Draven. The thought made the kiss more satisfying.
