Kira's blood red eyes looked out the den he had shared with his mate. It had been along time and her smell had finally faded from the den. His pelt that was once white was now brown and red in places from mud and scuffles he would get in with from the srrounding other predators wanting food.
He stood and limped out of the cave his leg still giving him discomfort from when he had hurt it. He nose ached a little as he growled and stopped walking as he tried to itch at it. It was a nervous habit ever since he had gotten the wound it had healed long sence then.
His nose caught the sent of fresh blood and his staomch ground loudly in respounce. He moved his nose to the air a moemnt sniffing about before he began to track it down. There was the kill and it was fresh too. He smirked as he looked around was it his lucky day or was there a reason it was left behind. Kira pushed it from his mind he was far to hungry to care as he dash quickly to the small kill and began to pull it away not wanting to stay and find out who killed it.

Kelda had stepped away for just a single moment, lost in thought she had decided to seek out a watering hole before her dinner could truly be appetizing. Taking note that no one seemed around she had wandered, coming to an empty kill site was certainly a huge surprise and a bit of a angry moment. She growled slow and low, frustration seeping out, flashes of possible families in need stopped that nonsense and she did teh sensible thing. Decided to follow the obvious stained trail of blood that had fallen where the other predator had dragged the meal away. This walk threw her mind into a thoughtless process, leading back to her grown up pups and so on. She was almost sulking before she got to the place where her lost meal had 'run' off to. No longer upset about the meal being taken she was smiling, until she took in the scent of the location.
The creature who lived here was male, he was older, judging by the fact that he had dragged the meal here all by himself, and there were no scents of young ones or anything. Something struck her slightly, the male was injured. She could smell the cross from the blood she recognized to the one she didn't. Male or not she had a upper hand. A smile spread hatefully across her face.
"Come out, come out where ever you are..." She sang, a slick twisted sense of humor rang in her tune and she moved slowly, still a good distance away, towards the den entrance. /What a silly creature to lead me here.../ Her thoughts echoed in her mind and she nearly laughed out loud. Her instincts kicked in and held back teh unwanted laugh that would disturb the threatening process.

Kira was in the back and already having finished most of the small kill he didn't notice the other presence till it was to late and she blocked his escape. He let out a growl as he stood over the kil protectively. He knew he wouldn't last long in a fight but he could still show off a bit and try to scare the other away well that was till he realized she was female.
He tensed a bit more it had been a long time since he saw another female to long for most males but he was still hurt from being left in the night from his last female that he hadn't gone out to find a new one.
"Its rude coming into someone den when you do not know them." He said camly with a slight hint of malice he was telling the truth he hated how most female thought they ruled the earth but he also enjoyed it to it let him when he was with one of course to relax and not worry about a thing.

She watched his reactions, he was slow to react at first, but heard her words after a few moments. She was smiling wickedly at the entrance of the den, pelt puffed to almost two sizes of herself, but her body language seemed relaxed, in control. "Listen to yourself.." Kelda spoke boldly, easily passing as someone who could speak to a whole pack/pride with ease. Her ears stood straight towards him, causing her decorated hair to shift slightly and the metal used to glint a little. "You speak of rudeness? Well you stole an obviously new kill." Eyes narrowing now she was getting worked up again, easy to be worked up and easy to calm down she was begining to get that much more frustrated.
"How dare you steal a kill then speak of trespassing as if you did nothing wrong. You do not even have a damned family to feed, what if I had?" Her eyes flashed with a refreshed anger, her memories of pups coming back at full tilt. This unsuspecting moment of memory flood caused her ears to flip back and lip peel up into a nasty looking glare and growl. Her pearly whites gleamed dangerously at the male. "What if I had six little maws to feed???" Furious, she began taking a step towards him.

"You clearly don't and look at what we are." He said with a snap as he looked at the kill a moment he had already eatten his fill so the was much more of a point to fight over it. "Besides if you had cubs you wouldn't have gone after looking for the kill less you left them all alone to be picked off one by one." He said coldly.
He growled and looked away from her. "Are you going to just sit there and show off or are you going to come eat the rest of the kill?" He said not as cold at the other times he had spoke. He was still a gentlemen in some ways but now it was deeply barred inside.

Kelda was growling now more so than ever. He had made a solid point and she hated that through and through, having a least a lick of common sense she should have fought that fight a little better. Glaring at him all the way to the kill she bent down and began to take her fill. She didn't need much and so she was finished quickly. Still glaring at him she gave a small smile. "You may be a theif, no matter what we are, but at least you are a smart theif." Her tone was hateful, and filled the den quietly.
The weather had egun to get as angry as she was, glancing out from in the den she noticed the clouds rolling carefree into their part of the world and thus inhabiting the skies she needed them not to be in. Moments became minutes and minutes became more, each passing second created a bgger mess. She stared up at the sky and jumped when a sudden bolt, silent, quick and deadly, shot through the sky. Her eyes squenched shut and she held herself steadily mumbling under her breath.

Kira watched the female noticing her reactions to the thunderstorm it was not guess as to what her problem was. He thought a moment before moving closer to her. "Tell me you lied about the cubs." He said looking out into the storm he might be mean and harsh to adults but he would never be such to innocent pups. He missed his own but didn't know where the first place to look for them would be. He wouldn't step foot near a pack. He hated them he'd rather die the seek out their help or join them.
He let out a small growl from her getting distracted with the rain he moved closer to her nipp eat her ear. "Are you even listening to me!" He yelled at her harshlu.

Her eyes opened abruptly, shooting daggers at the clip tongued male who had obviously been a parent himself, no other would react in such a way. "I do not. I would have brought what meat you had left me to them and ate when i got the chance. My pups are all grown and gone.." A sadness seeped, no drenched her words. She gazed at the earth and cringed as the boom of thunder hit the air around them, echoing in the den and surrounding her. A shudder swept her to creep away from teh entrance and the male into a holding area.
"I'm sure they would be fine, they are strong, my pups are!" She was quivering herself, tail tucked between her legs and ears flung back. Fear was the obvious intruder on her body language, she didn't bother hiding that fact, but knew he cared little to how she felt, perhaps this would get him to leave. Her thoughts would be a blessing, and so she knew it would not happen.

He sighed before nuding her to where he always sleep in the den it was hidden by a large rock that blocked out alot of the sound and weather from the opening. "Good then you raised them right." He said complimenting her before he moved to the den entrance sitting down and looking out at the rain.

Kelda moved slowly as he nudged her, not completely ready to accept his push, but needlessly followed his silent orders of 'go here, it's better'. The sound did seem muffled here and she peeked around the rock to peer at the male hyena. She had been so impolite, and here he was paying her compliments and helping her out, they ahd just started off on the wrong paw. She cleared her throat softly as the next roll of lightning and thunder passed by and relaxed a moment.
"My name is Kelda..." She said this slowly and clearly, basically to get rid of the quiver in her voice, it didn't do much, but she sounded a little clearer and more brave. She took a deep breath in as the sky flashed again and tensed up, then relaxed when a loud crack of thunder brought on a heavier rain. She smiled fondly at the dropping water and found a comfort in it breifly. "What is your name?" She asked, her voice shaky, but she didn't botehr hiding it, he already knew how she felt about the storm and it coudln't only get worse before it got better.

"Kira..." He said not bother with formalities and giving his full name it was long and more annoying then its worth when al he ever went by was Kira. He stood and moved out into the water standing under where a stead stream of rain water fell over the den opening. He laid out on the ground and rould about on the rocky flour getting the mud and lbood off his pelt before standing looking a bit more persentable and a over all different look. His regular white and silver pelt was replaced from the brown and maroon one.
He walked back inside shaking the excess water off his pelt before he moved further inside. He was quite chilled to the bone now but he wasn't one to complain abut such things. He sat down not to far from her as he licked the fur on his chest trying to smooth it out.

She heard more than saw what he was doing, the paw steps echoed away, the sound of the rain pattern changed and then she caught a glimpse of him fall to the ground and roll. It was only then that she had noticed she never really caught a look of him until now, his pelt had become a whole new color from what she gathered in her memory of their short momenst to gether. "Kira..." She let the sound of his nae roll off of her tongue and moved a bit to create a more comfortable position for herself before trying for another conversation as her moved nearer her and began tending to himself.
"What happened that you were all muddy.. Kira?" She didn't want to mention the blood, for if it was her she wouldn't want to discus it, made it that much more personal. Kelda shivered again slightly as the thunder and lightning kept striking, again and again. Ignoring it was harder than she had thought! "I mean, it's none of my business.. but yeah..." Awkward moment... Great. She was almost giggling at the whole senseless and desperate conversation, but did not retract her remark.

"Been searching for my mate." He said simply before looking to her curiously a moment before turning his attention back to his pelt. "She left one night wihtout a word took our young pups and left never to return she did it in a storm just like this...smart of her the trail was...hard to follow." He said frowning a little before looking back outside the cave.
"I got into a fight with a small pack of other hyena's...the blood was mostly there they where foolish and young and rude." He said groling a little remembering them playing cruel tricks on him saying they knew where his family was but they have only been lieing to get him away from his nice den. Course when he found this out he quickly returned to his den and chased them out.

Kelda looked from him to the den floor quickly, her cheeks going crimson as he speaks, she quickly became thankful of her darker pelt. "I'm so sorry to hear this Kira, it is a cruel feat to take pups from a parent. I admit I have trouble them being gone and they chose to leave me and go on." She scoffed lightly and laughed softly, though it was no laughing matter. She found herself growing more and more sad, she remembered clearing the faces of her sons and daughters.
"Well, young minds are truly twisted, the younger the generaiton the worst it gets I find. They have no respect, no sense of moral and so on... just disgusting to see. What will you do when you find your mate?" At the mention of the storm again she peered outside, ears flicking back and then forward to try ad listen to him, it made ignoring teh storm even harder, but this conversation meant something to both of them, she figured she coudl atleast try.

He moved closer to her not wanting to have to speak loudly to have her hear him over the storm. "I don't know...I doubt I will find her at this point." He said with a small growl. "Don't know why I bother she was rude and wanted everything her way." He said as he glared out the den. "Got mad at me over the littlest things." He siad before looking to her. "She is the reason I have the scars on my face." He said before looking away from her. He grew rather quite for however much he might say he hated or disliked her he still deep down loved her.

Kelda's gaze softened and she shuffled so he could move closer, but still had a comfortable distance for the both of them. She recalled, breifly, her time wth Mzio, the brash hyena whom had given her the family she would alwasy love and showed her what great things were brought by becoming a Mother. His words were sharp and twisted, hateful and pained, but his eyes spoke a whole other story. Not wanting to pry into osmething she also had no busness in she let the gaze of love in his eyes become disregarded. "Don't doubt you'll do something. Have enough hope and push and you'll get to her and your family, i'm damned sure of it." Her eyes were on her paws, she had felt the tears only after they had already formed and fell lightly. She simply stared down. "Don't let your pups go, not for anything, especially for something like her." She almost growled, but settled with a grimace.

"They are adult now and on thier own so even if I find her they won't know who I am. i was not apart of their life long enough for them to even remember me." He said shaking his head before looking to the female he was taken aback seeing and smell the tears. He didn't draw attention to the though and he sifted his weight a little before he ended up just layind down on his side closing his eyes giving up and just relax with the strange female.

"Oh, well.. I'm sorry Kira." She muttered softly, giving up on teh conversation for a moment to rest her head, eyes away from him now and facing the wall. It had a story of its' own she was sure. "If only these walls coudl talk..." She whispered quietly. Thinking of those poors pups, swept away from their Father in the middle of the night in a storm. A Father was a guardian, a protector. He would have been protecting them from the storm, the loud noises. She muffled a half sob that erupted form her and she shuffled in surprise before settling into silent tears again. She was reminded dreadfully of her own Mother, a not so horrid female, but an awful Mother. Could have been anyones best friend, but was not fit to raise a litter and she had removed her own litter, including Kelda from their Father. She recalled the claims of 'stupid' and 'can't help us' with little care.
"I hope she was at least a good Mother, if she was, then your pups will be just fine. It may not be a comforting thought, or something you want to think about, but maybe it will help relieve the tension. Just stop and imagine their little faces, she probably protected and cared for them fiercely." Hope was drenching her words, much like the rain was drenching the ground outside, the rain was aimed to pour into teh den, but lucky enough they were still far enough away to save themselves getting wet/more wet.

He turned his head to her watching her curiously a long moment before he stood moving a little closer to her laying down beside her as he moved to rub his cheek against her face whipping away her tears. "Your strange...I tell you of my woes and you seem to pity me now." He said not know he had reminded her of her own hardships.
"I thank you though...your words...they are kind and comforting." He said beiging her bit of a smirk before he rested his head ontop of his paws. "You should sleep its late and I don't think you want to be caught out in the storm." He said opening one eye to look at her waiting for her respounce before getting further comfortable.

Pressing memories disappear when his warm, alive cheek touched hers, she didn't blush, but reacted instead. Her cheek pressed to his and lingered a moment before he left to rest his head on his paws. She rested her own head on her paws and yawned lightly. Kelda listened quietly, and gazed at him as he spoke, form teh corner of her eye. "If your pups come from a good Mother, who is at least respectful, they will be more than fine. I know the siatution, from a pups point of view." She grimced lightly and closed her eye sto gather her own family that she had made herself raise with their Father there purely because her Mother had not given her the option. "I do not pity.. I sympathize.." The word was a better one in her eyes and she supressed anotehr yawn.
"I'm glad I could help Kira, I should follow your wise words though.." Already on the verge of passing out she let herself relax and begin to tumble, mentally, into a deep slumbering dream, her automatic response to falling asleep was finding the source of heat nearby, unfortunately for Kira he was it. And so Kelda leaned towards him, seeking a comforting place to lay, without being conscious.

Kira opened his eyes in a small startal feeling the body resting against him but he said nothing as he moved his head closer to her resting his head on the back over her neck giving her the warmth she was seeking. "....night." He muttered softly mostly to himself as he closed his eyes to fall asleep against the warmth of another.
