It was hot, very hot.
The bright cheerful lioness didn't exactly like the heat like this. It was the only thing she regretted being in this pride. When the sun began to get high she began to want to sleep more and more and curl up some where and not go anywhere for the rest of the day. Because of that as often as she could she opted to watch the cubs of the parents who had morning and evening shifts so she could watch those cubs and then during the middle of the day take a break when it was most hot. Today, however, was one of the days that the parent came home late and she didn't get to head out to her favorite spot yet.
She panted loudly as she wandered quickly toward the oasis, heading toward the water to grab some water and some shade. There was a big palm tree that shaded over the side of shore and she really enjoyed it out there. She wanted to curl up by the side and lap up water and flick her tail around and relax. Hopefully her mate would be there too! The idea of that made her excited she wanted to go out there quicker. She trotted a little quicker her paws hurt. She was jealous of how much better her kids did in these lands, they loved the heat. They were born in it and in a way she thought they were crazy.
She approached the side of the oasis and sighed as she didn't find her mate waiting for her. She sighed but she was still very happy to find the water wise empty. She wandered closer to it and then flopped down on her side the water touching her belly and the water around her paws, she leaned over and lapped up some of the water before closing her eyes flicking her tail around and feeling the water splash on her side that was exposed to the sun. Oh it was so nice to feel the water.
