Well that had been only slightly less emasculating then he'd originally thought. But only slightly. He still had a large bag full of yards of material and cord, and he was still walking out of a fabric store, and those were two things the boil had been positive he'd never be doing in his unlife. Then again, he'd also never imagined he'd have a seamstress as ghoulfriend, and said ghoulfriend would want to make his clothing for prom. Clearly he'd been mistaken, but it was happily so. Now he simply had to make it out of the maul before anyone noticed the logo on the sided of his bag, and he'd be in the clear.
Things never seemed to work out exactly as planned though, and the hungry ghost found himself pausing in front of the large music store near one of the many exits, dark eyes lingering a sign with large red letters reading 'Sale'. He chanced a glance towards the bases near one side, noted the colorful sales tags dangling from the necks, then looked back down to the bag in his clawed hand.
With a resigned sigh the boil fished his phone out of his pocket and aimed the camera at the store front and it's sale signs. He sent that, along with a short message 'Dude, bases are on sale, get over here.' to Unstabul.

Some time after shopping with Calder Bul had a bit of cash left in his pockets and decided it wouldn't hurt to grab some grub from the food court before heading back to school.
Bzzt Bzzzt
Pulling his yellphone from his pocket Bul read the message that flashed across its screen. Bases on sale BASES. ON. SALE.
He had hardly made it past a couple venues before he'd gotten the text and nearly dropped his stuff. Originally that day he had no intentions of dilly dallying but... a sale on bases? Now was the time to jump on that opportunity. Seiji was even there already! The boil sought out a directory and scanned the list for the music store then bolted down the maul.
The large sign outside the store could be seen from down the corridor and Bul caught sight of his best friend and waved his phone in the air. "Dude got your text I was already here! What a coincidence!" Already from the selection in the window he knew he was walking out with one TODAY.

There was a small seating area just outside the music store, and with the assumption the half-beast would be coming from school the Jikininki moved in that direction to make himself comfortable for the wait. He'd gotten so far as to set his bag down and take a seat before his friend came bolting past him towards the shop windows. Well then, someone was excited. He even had a teasingly snide comment on the tip of his tongue before Bul revealed he'd already been at the maul. Which actually made a lot more logical sense then him somehow running all the way to it from school in such a short period of time. He swallowed the comment, tossed his friend a grin, and reclaimed his bag so he could join him.
"Now that's just straight up good luck, there, Bro." Smirking, he gave the other boil a nudge with his elbow and pointed towards a row of bases along the side wall of the store. "Well let's not stand around out here all day." Places to go, prom clothes to be fitted.
He gave the bag of fabric at his side a slightly worried look before walking towards the entrance to the store. He was absolutely confident that Junko would make something high quality and well fitting, but he was a little worried about just what she'd be making him. He had said he'd wear anything she wanted him to, and at the time it'd seemed like a good idea. Now? Well, he was just a touch worried.
A little distraction by music store was just what the doctor ordered. A yup.

"Yea I was tie shopping down at To Die For and ran into Calder there. Picked out something striped, black and white. Still gotta get a tux but I'm putting that off for another day," Bul said while staring the basses down.
"So what's in the bag?" he asked walking in. He didn't need to really search, his body practically carried him to the strings section past thumping amps and colorful accessories. "Man I'm lucky my amp was saved," he smiled as he looked at the sale prices on the axes. "This is gonna be a sinch..." he looked around the Hungry Ghost as if checking to see if they weren't being watched but then waved down a store assistant.
"Are these demo-able?" asked the half beast. Given an enthusiastic nod in response the boil turned to Seiji and nodded. "Aaaalright, let's start testing them out."
Setting down his stuff, Bul scouted through the various lengths and shapes to find something he knew he'd be comfortable holding. The colors didn't matter right away since he could always go back and re-detail it though while he was at it he figured he might as well pick a sick one.

That was convenient! Seiji hadn't really been all that keen on a long wait anyways. He glanced down at the bag again when Bul inquired about it, lips pressing into a thin line. "Um, fabric." If asked he'd expand, but it seemed perhaps the monster's interest was more focused on the instruments.
He lingered at his friend's side as he gave the basses a once over then glanced around them. Flagging down an assistant to ask about trying a few out. His own dark gaze sliding across the store towards the vast selection of drums and accessories. His own set was a nice one, and still in great condition. He didn't need anything, but that didn't mean a shiny set of new cymbals didn't appeal to him.
they weren't here for him though, and he followed Bul over to the basses. Looking through the selection to find one with a longer neck. Seiji wasn't short, and the half-beast was taller even then him, so whatever he picked had to be long enough to be comfortable to play. He grabbed a cherry red axes and sank down on the nearest stool, setting his bag between his feet. "Any color or brand you're looking for specifically?"
He balanced the thing on his knee, sliding his his clawed hand up the neck of the thing. It took quite a bit of concentration, but he could press the strings with the black tips in some of the easier cords. With his human hand he strummed along the thick strings. "Four string or six string?" The one on his lap had six.

"Well... actually m'not a big snob on guitars. Just whatever sounds nice. People go on and on about how it matters if its a Vicious or a Bloody Roar but in the end its all about the player yanno?"
Still Bul wouldn't walk away with anything too shitty. "Four-" he replied picking up a desaturated purple and black one with orange specks of 'blood.' It was the first he found to be the right length for him and took to to an amp plugging it in and strumming some without tuning it. "Just gotta make sure it doesn't have any kinks either before you waste your time tuning it." In some cases the guitar was so cheap it would have pitches that the amps wouldn't sound.
"Nah.." On to the next one. His process would continue for a good period of time. "So why fabric huh?" he asked, though with a curious tone, nothing condemning. How could be be bitter in such nirvana? "I mean there's a bunch of s**t you could be using it for but I don't know the first thing about buying it so.."

A little absently the ghost boil picked at the strings of the base on his lap. he hadn't plugged it in, but he could hear the soft cords as he strummed them. He wasn't a guitar player though, so he didn't mess about with tuning it. He likely would have just set the thing even further out of tune then it already was. He'd leave all the detail oriented stuff to Bul, he knew what he was looking for after all.
He nodded at the other Boil's response, looking back up at the row of bases mounted on the wall. There were a lot of four strings, so hopefully they'd find something that worked good for him. "They seem to have a pretty big selection so I'm sure we'll find one that's a great fit you for." He picked out a few more notes before returning the instrument to where he'd grabbed it. reclaiming his stool so he could watch Bul and listen to him play.
Of course he'd underestimated the curious nature of his friend. "Oh, well," He nudged the bag with the toe of his boot, smiling wearily. "I'm letting Junko make my clothes for Prom. She had everything already picked at the store but they had to order more yards of fabric. I'm picking them up for her." Despite his slight apprehension towards what the futakuchi-onna might have planned for his attire for the evening a ridiculously happy little smile crossed his lips. The boil was smitten, it was growing increasingly obvious. "Her dress is pretty hot, so no matter what I'm wearing it'll still be a fun night."

"Aw, that's sweet," Bul chuckled. "No really though, it is sweet. AND its cheaper than what I'm gonna have to do." Getting a suit tailored to his spines was always going to be a challenge. "Oh is it? I haven't seen what Mei is going to wear although I am perfectly satisfied with it being a surprise." Still he was envious that Seiji and Junko had a bit of seniority on he and Mei's relationship.
Edgy guitars were a little too theatrical for Bul but one in particular sort of stood out from the rest after trying out the last couple. It had a striped pattern just subtle enough not to burn the eyes and a set of sharp curves similar to bull horns with dangerous looking edges. It was only lightly engraved with a sort of animal skull but let room for interpretation.
"Lookit this one Seiji..." his voice dropped quiet as he pulled it off the shelf. "This... is.... sick.."
Plugging it in, the half beast did go through the effort of tuning it. It just felt right holding it. Unfortunately it was a little heavier than what he was used to but being in fitness club would help with that. "Jack almighty this is it." Bul was confident enough to play a little tune from a video game, grinning happily along with it.
"Alright. No more. This is it right here, what do you think?"

When no brotherly teasing followed the admission relief made the jikininki's shoulders sag a little, and the smile that'd been toying at his mouth grew into something closer to a grin. "Ya, and it makes her happy, and that's what's important." The ghost boil picked a loose thread on the hem of his shirt. "I'm sure whatever Mei wears will look great, she's got good style, too." There was something on the tip of his tongue, and admission he felt Bul deserved to hear as his best friend. It would have to wait though as it seemed the perfect bass was finally discovered.
"That thing is wicked, dude." A little more one way or the other and it would have been guady and over done, but there was just the right amount of detail to make it look bad a**. Seiji approved. "You have got to get that one, it's perfect. How much is it, sales price?"
It sounded, if possible, better then it looked. Getting to his feet, the hungry ghost moved closer so he could look at the skull engraving a little closer. "I think it's perfect."

He could lie and say he wasn't but Bul had a bit of a romantic in him. Plus his friend was happy and teasing him of his happiness was just mean. "I honestly didn't know that Junko was into making clothes," he said while practically cradling his soon to be bought guitar. "Mei will look good in anything she's... she's so cute and pretty at the same time she just rocks all the looks," he laughed and sort of face-palmed at how flamboyant that must've sounded.
Calder's rubbing off on me..
Bul looked at the tag on the bass. It was perhaps one of the more expensive ones but his parents implied he spend as much money as he wanted on whatever was perfect for him. Not to mention he'd spend some extra money on a warranty in case he smashed this one like his last... which certainly wouldn't be happening.
"Well I'm positive this one is it lemme go get checked out so we can go get some grub or something." The boil proceeded to the checkout counter spending a good couple minutes laughing it up with the sales associate about what happened to his last bass and how awesome this new one was. When he was finished he nodded to Seiji. "S'all done."

As much as Seiji would have liked to tear into the other boil for his rambling on about Mei he couldn't, not without being a complete hypocrite. Of course he couldn't just leave it alone either. Instead he settled for a smirk and a laugh that was a little higher then was normal for the ghost. He'd caught himself going on and on about Junko in a similar fashion numerous times now, and he was pretty damn sure he was all but smitten with the ghoul. If Bul was happy with Mei, he was going to support his friend, not tease him.
As Bul took his new bass up to the sales counter, Seiji retrieved his bag from beside the stool and wandered over to join him. Resting an elbow on the counter so his chin could settle on his upturned palm. Laughing along with the half-beast and the sales rep as they exchanged stories of busted instruments and the all the gory details they entailed. Dark eyes wandering to the wall behind the clerk and the row of colorful drumsticks. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the pair he had, but there was a wicked set of black ones with dripping blood detail that would make an excellent addition.
In the end he broke down and bought them, offering over an unseemly amount of seeds for the sticks. Unlike Bul's bass, drumsticks had not been on sale, still.. "They're pretty cool, right?" He held them up for his friend to look at before dropping them into the bag of fabric.
"So you said something about food?" As a ghost, Seiji didn't often feel hungry, but he did like eating. It was a familiar sort of act, and he rather enjoyed the flavor of things. He also wanted to ask the monster how things were going with Mei, and that was a conversation that'd go best with a burger and a large plate of fright fries.
