Cricket had given the group an intense stare of disapproval when they'd woken in her office. That much was clear. However, she'd at least taken the rounds to also check the trio out, ultimately deeming that they were...physically...unharmed. Shehk had frowned, keeping her feet off the floor and had earned some particularly harsh treatment from the nurse (She hadn't meant to step on the bugs in the first class....), but soon enough they'd been ushered out of the office to go frolic away.
Shehk was giddy for someone who didn't really want to be emotionally available at the time. She had...sort of..passed. She looked at the note that was still in tow, looking over it.
'You will do better next time, knobs'.
That one word had a way of making her forget all of her problems she had in that moment, grinning like an idiot. She'd managed to do something and she didn't need anybody else to pat her on the back for it.
Well...
that was a lie. That note alone was like a pat on the back. They had done horribly, sort of, but it had been amazing. And worth it. Well, her pride could have bore a little bit of spite for having been owned by a shadow, but a shadow was a shadow, and she was a Knob instead of a Snot now!
AHH!!
She'd looped her arms around both Riley and Calder's shoulders.
"So. It seems that we may just be the first of our class to have moved on in our education." she beamed. "How do you two feel about that?" Shehk asked, tail wagging madly. She couldn't help it. She could mope about a stupid boy later.
She had fellow veterans to chill with.
"We should like..order pizza and cookies and s**t and just relax for the rest of the day after that! It. Was. Awesome! You two were both awesome!" She was just beaming like a complete idiot.
Which was better than her moping DURING the exam had been. Probably the acceptance of a decent distraction.

Calder thought he failed, and didn't want to wake up. Still, a bug crawling over his brow really didn't do wonders for resting, and he flicked his moss-green eyes open to look at the dingy lights and found himself resting on a bed. The fact he was on a bed told him he was no in his room, else he'd be submerged in his bathtub. Groaning, he slowly sat up, running a hand through his hair and pulling out a millipede that had decided to play in it. Dropping it beside him, he then noticed the card and read it.
Knob. Knob. Where did he hear that word before? His ears perked when he remembered. Wait? DID THEY JUST NOT SUCK HARD ENOUGH TO PASS??!!!
A giddy ghoul wrapping around his shoulders told him that that yes, they had passed. Not only that, but seeing as they were the only ones at the Nurse's office right now, they were the very first ones. They might not have kicked Shadow butt royally, but they at least make enough of a dent for the professor to let them crawl through.
"Wait? Are you serious?" He looked at the card again, reading it over and over and over again so much so that the words started to loose meaning. "We PASSED?" OMG! OMG! O.M.G.!
He looked up at Shehk and broke into a smile. A party sounded amazing, but the simple fact he wasn't going to be sent home a failure was enough for him. More than enough. He leaped up to wrap his arms around Shehk and jump a bit. "I can't believe...I thought we were dead...and you were all gone... I cant believe we passed!"

There was a ringing sound in her ears. She knew she was waking up somewhere, and that she wasn't dead anymore. Those were the only thoughts she was capable of comprehending, because her head felt like it was going to explode.
It had never hurt this much before.
Uuuuuuugh. Riley's voice sounded muffled as it emitted from her, when she finally sat up from her respawn cot. She held her head in both hands, and only one eye opened as it looked blearily out at the two others in the room.
They seemed so happy. She understood why, she was pleased that they were knobs, as well. Only.. there was a dark stain of failure that tainted her happiness.
She had wanted to win.
Why are you guys talking so loud? Riley whispered, covering her ears as if they were yelling - which they weren't.

"I know, right??" Shehk beamed, hugging the kelpie back.
There was probably a loud wave of "GLEEEEEEEEEE" coming from the embracing silver pair, Shehk's tail continuing to wag in a maniacal manner. Oh, she was so happy. So happy. Always happy. Never not happy. However, when Riley had pipped up, Shehk frowned, her ears drooping a bit.
Had she been being loud? SHe hadn't noticed in all of her excitement.
"Sorry.." She said in a whisper, doing her best to be quiet this time around, offering the Mindflayer a light smile before sidling over to lean on the ghoul's shoulder, tilting her head to look up at her. There was a hopeful tailwag attached to the gesture.
So hopeful.
Shehk made a point to whisper after that point. "Did you hit your head between here and the basement?" she inquired, tilting her head to the other side in a sort of adoring gesture. "We can go get you some ice if you need it. I'll let you lay your head in my lap and everything until you feel better."
.... ......
Shehk was really weird today.
She looked back to Calder. "I think some good food is warranted after that, though. It could have been way worse than it turned out. Hellma could have decided to eat all of us or kick us out because we sucked." She sighed.
"We did pretty good...until the damn thing kicked our asses." She laughed a bit.

Aww. Buzz kill. Calder wanted to hug Shehk more and bounce around, matching her tail wags with his own tail flicks. Of course, seeing as the third member of their team looked like she got hit by a train (or in this case, the Shadow 9:45 Hellma. Toot! Toot!), Shehk had decided to give her a break. Even Calder admitted he could give her that, but he had wished she would perk up. They had passed!
As Shehk left, Calder slipped off his own cot to move over over where Riley was cradling her head. True, he wasn't feeling 100%, but he had respawned countless times before. Having been punished with a pin that made you respawn in the Nurse's office each time you went near deep water had at least made him expect what he was going to feel once he woke up. Still, nothing like a big celebratory batch of carrots and sugar cubes couldn't cure (and maybe a longggggggg nap).
While Shehk tried to comfort his friend, Calder decided that if they were going to celebrate, they had to get everyone on board. Toot, Toot, Riley.
It was then that he gasped and set his hands down on Riley's coat. "We WERE awesome, and if we just had a few more of those pills, we could have beaten that thing. I thought I'd be the first one out, but you two - " He looked hurt. "...I was left all alone counting!" It seemed Calder didn't practice his inside voice much.

Riley appreciated the attempts at whispers, but when she looked up to see Shehk's shining face, and hear her bouncy voice, her expression changed. If she had a mouth, it was clear her cheeks were trying to lift it in a grin, and without a word Riley's arms wrapped long and hard around Shehk, pulling the ghoul against her.
We did it. She whispered, not out of quiet, but out of reverie. She wanted Shehk to be this happy. She knew the ghoul deserved it, and Riley's faint self-loathing was pushed to the wayside to keep her from losing this moment.
When she smiled, she looked beautiful.
Riley turned and pulled away, her eyebrows lifting up as high as they can go as she watched Calder swing by her other side and set his hands on her. She winced as his voice rose, but it was hard to focus on anything other than this was Calder, talking to her right now.
It was a hesitant movement, but she reached out, and pressed her hand against his shoulder. It felt.. so odd.
You did amazing. Both of you. Professor Shox is right. We are going to do better, next year. That thing stands no chance.

Thump thump thump.
That was the sound Shehk's tail made as it hit the cot they were sitting on, the pricolici beaming. Ohhh, so much happiness! "Man. This all makes up for how Prom is going to turn out..." her lips tightened at the thought a bit, but soon she was all smiles and joy again. We so happy, we so happy!
Shehk squeezed her arms around Riley in an enormous hug, gleeful. Never not gleeful. She was just so happy! She'd survived her first year of school!!! SHE'D SURVIVED!!!
"We all did amazing." Shehk beamed, "Now. I still think some sort of celebratory pizza-cookies-noms-squirrel-whatever-you-want party needs to happen. Because we're awesome."
She grinned.
"And we deserve all of it."

Touching each others' shoulders was probably the closest to Calder and Riley were going to get to a hug at the moment. Dangerous battle bonding or not, it was all rather awkward and if he took the time to really step back and look at it, it would probably creep him out far more than it already did. Instead, he let himself get swept up in the good mood, ignoring awkwardness and body aches and beamed at the two ghouls.
"We should!" And then he glanced up, standing a bit taller as he looked around the Nurse's office. He had been wondering if they could have the party here or move someplace else, but now that he looked at it, there were a lot of cots. His giddy smile turned a bit. "Actually, we could have a really big party..." They weren't the only ones doing exams, right?

Parties. Riley had to laugh. She'd been to more parties, and get togethers, and sleepovers, and celebrations, in her one year as a snot, than her entire life. Which wasn't hard.. because none of those things had ever actually occurred before Amityville, anyway. And yet here, it seemed like there was always something to convene in friendship for. It was a warming thought, and an old part of her felt a little sick at how it warmed her.
But, now was not the time to let her insecurities cloud her happiness. She acquiesced, nodding gently even though she could tell a party would be loud enough to make her headache worse. Sure. She murmured quietly. We can do that. You deserve it, after all.
She perked when she realized Shehk had mentioned cookies in her tirade of refreshments. Yes. Riley's voice was a bit more sure this time. I think a party is in order.

Huzzah! Shehk could have thrown her hands up in the air if she wasn't afraid she'd peg someone in the face with her hands if she did that. She really didn't want to peg anybody in the face. Especially not Riley and Calder.
However, her mood immediately changed when Calder seemed to imply they should have a party for everybody who was going up a year. Her eyes narrowed and her lips tightened. Nukpana would be going up a year as well..and she didn't even want to be de-....wait... well, the point was she didn't want to be in the same room with him in that moment.
Give her another six months and she'd reevaluate how much he deserved to live. Maybe.
"I think I'd rather make it a bit more personal.." she answered slowly, leaning against Riley's shoulder. "Besides, then Riley would have to share the cookies with more than just m-..well, I guess me depending on who it was. Do you like cookie, Calder?" Shehk tilted her head thoughtfully at the Kelpie.
"Plus actually setting up something more large scale might inconvenience people who already have to plan around Prom."
Her nose crinkled, biting her tongue to keep from admitting that she wouldn't be attending. It was a powerful and bitter thought to have.

"Awesome!" He rose, already up and rearing to go. Sure, his head felt funny and he had a sort of topsy-turvy feeling in his stomach from reforming in the Nurse's office, but nothing a good run wouldn't fix. That and talking - a lot.
"I can go get some food. No point in hoarding now since it's the end of the year." That in itself caused him to pause. In no time at all, Prom would be here and most of them would be going home. It was so strange. When he first went to school, he had been miserable and homesick, not sure about things like hallways, fountains, and desks. Everything was new and he didn't seem to mesh. Now he felt awkward leaving a place he had considered a home to some extent. His dorm. His friend's dorms. The places where he hanged. It would all be waiting for him, but he wondered if you could get school sick too.
He only pouted a bit when a more private party was mentioned, but quickly brushed it off. "Smalls fine." Oh well. A party was a party was a party, and he wasn't about to fuss over it. He still wanted to celebrate and if it's one thing monsters did best, it was party!
"Sure, I like cookies. Who doesn't like cookies? I mean, depends on the cookie." He preferred ones with pieces of water bug in it. "Should we have it here?"

(Skipped Lani at her request~) "I like cookies..when they don't make me sick." the pricolici expressed, before her expression turned to abject horror.
"Here? Like? In Cricket's office here??" Shehk looked towards the nurse who suddenly turned her sharp stare on them, like they were wasting precious space. Precious, precious space!
The Pricolici looked back to Calder. "Not here, no." she said, shaking her head fervently. "I don't want to spend all my time before going home in pieces because we made a mess in here." she whispered, twiddling her thumbs and hoping the nurse hadn't heard her. She had a feeling, however, that Cricket had. Cricket heard everything.
Somehow.
Shehk sat up a bit straighter. "But I think here at the school is fine, unless we want to go out somewhere and make a grand ol' date out of it?" She made a light face. "Either of those is an option...well, I'm sure there are more options than that, but ..yeah."
She scratched the back of her head, gravitating towards the backs of her ears... Oh..oh..she found a spot. Thumpthumpthump went the tail.

Calder was up for going anywhere, but looking at Riley and wondering how far they would make it out of campus, he decided that probably wasn't the best bet. That and walking anywhere probably would tucker him out. They had survived a rather intense battle after all. "Okay, on campus then. Um......" He tapped his finger and then looked to the two ghouls.
"Who's room?" Before they event started, he continued. "...my room is pretty much a mess...and I don't have any chairs." And he didn't remember if he even bothered to clean up all his dirty magazines, not to mention the leeches would be all up in everyone's business.

The answer was simple.
My dorm is sufficient. She pushed herself off of the cot, looking a little better than she had a moment ago, and locked arms with Shehk. We will adjourn to my dorm, but perhaps we should make a pit stop at the cafeteria for the refreshments you mentioned. I regret that my refrigerator is home to nothing but a variety of brains - and my cupboards are only stocked with a box of sugar or two.
Or five.
She held her other arm out for Calder. Shall we?
