So in general I find favor in how Christians conduct worship. It seems pretty honest and straightforward. It's just that I still have an issue with the whole Jesus bit. On the other hand, though I feel more agreeable with God as presented by Judaism and even Islam, the problem therein is in practice and ritual. Personally I don't see God being mad if I don't light X number of candles on a certain day, pray in a certain direction, or wash my hands and feet before said prayer. I mean, I understand why these things are done. But it just seems very shallow to me that God would actually be so concerned with those things. I mean, I get scorned for not doing them in relation to those particular faiths, so it bears some significance. It's always kind of put me in between a rock and a hard place. Like I think Christians got it going on for their approach in worship, but I don't believe in Christ per say, so I tend to get the axe there. And then my lack of ritual observance in Judaism and Islam gets me the axe there. I feel like there is some middle ground there somewhere, but I'm having a hard time finding it.

Have you looked in to Christian atheism or Progressive Christianity? Both put a low emphasis on Christology. A book I might recommend is "God is not Three Guys in the Sky". It's written by someone who is referred as a Catholic Atheist and why she's still faithful to the Catholic faith despite not believing in the literal divinity of Jesus.

No your not. I mean it's actually quite common I've been hearing that many theologians don't believe Jesus to be literally God but understand him to be God from a mythic perspective. Basically that there are lessons and messages conveyed by this particular teaching and it's they irrelevant if he was literally divine.

One of the quotes that my mentors taught me was "If your faith in Christ is dependent on the events literally happening, where will your faith go if the bones of Jesus are found tomorrow?"

The stance that you describe is called a low Christological stance. It is a stance in Christianity that recognizes Jesus as an important person and a mystic but either denies or puts a low emphasis on claims of him being divine. Arianism was one of the older rivaling stances in the early church formulation that got struck down as heretical, though from what I understand there was more political reasons for it being struck down since many Arianians were reported to be very violent and aggressive toward the Roman Empire and toward other sects of Christianity they labeled as heretical.

This stance is also common among scholars studying a historical Jesus. Also this stance isn't too uncommon among theologians though many will not publicly admit this stance due to the stigma associated with this stance. Many liberal and progressive Christians are open to members that have a low Christological stance.

lol XD
Christology is a theological term involving Jesus's supposed divinity. A "high" Christological stance means one puts heavy emphasis on his supposed divinity being of the utmost importance, in particular the fully God, fully man stance.

A "low" christological stance basically means that if Jesus was divine it's of little importance or one holds that he was an important person in and head prophet Christianity but not God incarnate, just a man.

I was just giving a term that seems to describe your stance if you wanted to look more in depth into it. I'z trying to be's a helper 3nodding

I could answer the question about why we do "wash are hand and feet" before a prayer (i am Muslim), If you would like me to.

Well I did ask locally, and the answer I got was that they needed to be clean before prayer. But if you'd like to divulge further, appropriate meaning, please do. 3nodding I'm such a busy person I seldom get to look into stuff as much as I'd like to sometimes.

no you basically got it i just wanted to add that the reason we do pray is for God (obviously). Each prayer only really takes about 2 to 3mins of your time. So add that up it 5 times a day that would be about 10mins of your day. whats the harm of giving only 10 mins of your day to God? you know.

Yeah I think that's pretty awesome. I've often considered the number of people I see go to church or sinnagogues on Sundays. And two, three days later, some of them tend to forget what they believe sometimes. So I think regularly establishing ones relationship with God on a daily basis is probably a very prudent thing to do. Some people do so often, regardless. But many are just into the Sunday prayer mode, which leaves quite a few days to be forgetful and overlook things.
