Ishara paced around a geiser a bit, green eyes seeming to absolutely glow in the light from it. Even the paler part of her fur glowed from it, lighting up the smile on her face. She had ideas to speak to Ausha about concerning the pride, grand ideas. And they revolved around her cubs and Ausha's desire for an heir. The few teeth on her necklace jangled just a bit while she paced, the ideas dancing around.

Ausha had been prowling around the pridal lands a bit, patrolling when he wasn't hunting (badly) what he needed to get by. Whatever water he drank usually came from condensation from the geysers that accumulated on the walls around them. Today he arrived there, only to be met by the dark form of Ishara
"Hey" he greeted, heading over towards her "How are you, darling?"

Almost glowing green orbs looked up as a purr escaped the lioness. "Hellow, Ausha. I am good this fine evening. And you?" She sat down, mind still a bustle with ideas. Staring at the dropplets condensing a moment, another idea formed, unrelated to the pride. She'd have to go out and find a baboon or something, though... Her eyes quickly turned back to the adolescent male, a slight purr in her throat still.

"Pretty good. Since Chomo left, it's been quiet though." he shrugged and looked into one of the strangely glowing geysers with disinterest "We should hold a party here or something." Then completley aware of the awful pun, he added "Get some life into the place."
He leaned down to the edge of the geyser and licked off some of the condensation, it didn't taste lovely, but it wasn't TOO bad.
"I'm actually hoping to get myself an heir soon. Then I'll have someone to tend to and keep me occupied."

The lioness nodded, watching him lick up the condensation. "We should probably find a way to get water in here... Perhaps dig a sort of waterway and a pool to collect the water in."
Stretching, she paced around and examined a bone. "Ah, on the whole heir thing... I was thinking of something..." Green orbs turned to the pale lion. "Perhaps we could have two royal families. The ones who would be sort of... Cerimonial, so to say, a form of a false royalty... And then a second one, one that wouldn't leave the sanctuary of the Graveyard. Namely... Your descendants." She sat down, tail curling just a bit. It was an interesting idea, to say the least. "In essense... There would be your heir, and our heir... Two kings, two queens, or a king and a queen with their chosen mates."

Ausha nodded, it certainly wasn't a bad idea at all. "Sounds good to me, that way you don't risk singeing your whiskers when you take a drink"
The monotone lion tilted his head slightly as Ishara proposed her idea. "I like that idea a lot, dear. It would mean anyone attacking the pride would have to deal with the judgement of two royal lines."

She thought over the terrain of the Graveyard a moment, then nodded. "Yes... There's a good depression in the ground by the big skull closest to the yard's edge... It'd be PERFECT, what with those tusks preventing things from escaping further into the Graveyard..."
A chuckle escaped. "That, too... It'd make for a good defense strategy for the pride... The question would be..." She settled down a bit. "How to choose the heirs... It could be by something specific, like a marking, or coat patterns... Or the tradition of first born as seen in other prides.." She paused, then made a face. "No, not that old tradition... New pride, new traditions to be forged... Like how we're carving out our place in this land of bones and death."

Ausha grinned mischeviously "You couldn't persuade our big strong king to help sort out the water supply could you? I have a hyena ally who could help him out if he needed it. " He waved a paw in mock helplessness "I would help out, but, you know....my paw."
That and I'm a midget for my age.
Of course he would never admit that.
As for the selection process in the pride, he pondered a bit "Hmmmm, we could choose based on the colour of the cub's pelt, perhaps looking for a lightness, a relation in hue to the skulls of the yard? It would double up as camoflage."
He didn't mention how light colouration was also a confining feature too, outside the yard he stuck out painfully. It was a factor that bound him to the yard regardless, perhaps it would be so for the heirs?

A chuckle escaped. "I don't think I'll bother him much..." A sigh escaped. "I've not seen Hidalgo near the Yard all too often as I used to..." Her mind wandered a moment, then she smiled. "At any rate... Toshiro and some of those others that have joined up with the pride could do to help us all survive in here, perhaps employ them to assist... They all look strong, even the juveniles. The effort of the full pride..." She paused. "Though... Tu has the same problem you have, the paw and all... Perhaps overseers of the project... Yes, minds are important things, a good use for those weak of body..." Indeed, that would be a good strategy. To rely on simply brains or brawn was a foolish thing. But to have a balance of both...
Giving a nod, green eyes flitted over the adolescent. "Not just pale colors... Comouflage against bones is good, but also camouflage against the night as well..." A pause as she thought a moment. "Perhaps one line could be characterised by the look of bones in pelt color, the other by the look of the shadows, each with hints of the other? After all... You look as though you'd be a bone with shadows in it, while I look like bones peeking out of the shadows..." Like the brains and brawn, another good balance. It'd make for a good surprise tactic in protecting the territory and pride. Unless it was the hyenas from the inner Graveyard, nobody invading could verywell smell them above the dust, death, and decay, or the sulfur around the geisers. And, if either of the heirs had the brains and not brawn, they could easily hide and be safe to ensure the saftey of the bloodline... It was, in her mind, a perfect way of doing things.

Ausha agreed, it was about time they launched some sort of effort to make this place more liveable for it's inhabitants, this sort of thing could possibly help to pull them together somewhat too. "I'm sure we probably have more strength scattered around this place than we could guess. So many have joined since we started out." he all but glowed with pride, who could have thought they would somehow claw out a living here? "Yes, Tu can join me in overseeing if they wish." He was loathe to admit his own limitations, but accepted that his limp was never something he'd been able to hide. Brain over brawn, that was definately his forte. "Indeed, in these odd lands, even those who would probably have died out on the plains can live on life seemingly borrowed from the bones" He grinned wryly "But yes, definatelely, get everyone together for the construction, if I see anyone, I'll tell them."
Ishara's next point was very true "Two colour strains would be a good thing to cultivate, after all, the graveyard isn't always light, nor is it always dark. I like the balance we have. Even the others in all their varied hues are excellent to have in our midst." he agreed on the scent fact, time was what it took to learn to discern lions and trails from the dust and centuries of decay that hung over the place "But it's to our luck that the hyena seem to be keeping themselves to themselves for the most part." His mind flitted to Erevu, the hyena with whom he had spoken recently "Though could you help me spread the word that if a striped grey and black hyena named Erevu is seen within our lands, that's because, like Maji, he is a part of it. He dislikes his own kind, a choice I'm not about to dispute."
He nodded. It really was good to get a chance to discuss matters of the pride.

The lioness drew a crude map of the water hole and the Graveyard border where the propper skull was in the dust, drawing a line to the border and the skull. "We should probably mark the way for the water to flow, where to dig and all... That way, we know where we're going and can pick up each day." She pondered a moment, then nodded to herself. "Perhaps digging should start where the water comes out... That way, when we break off at the water, the water won't run COMPLETELY muddy into the collection spot. And with how stoney the ground is..." She smiled at this. "There's little chance of it simply absorbing into the ground... Plus, with enough rainy seasons, a veritable stream will be carved out of the land by nature after we... Guide it along.."
Another nod at the paler lion. "I shall remember him." She paused. "Something did occur, though... There are grasses outside the borders of the yard itself..." She glanced in the general direction. "Black or white, we both stick out out there." It was why she stuck around in the Graveyard borders, after all. She could easily hide amid the shadows, and the hot sun tended to cuase her to overheat nowadays. Like Ausha, she'd become adapted to the environment she called home. Her mind wandered back to the color strains. Pale lions... Dark lions... A glint came to her eyes. "Perhaps it should be more than simply pelts alone... If you notice, my only cub who's of dark pelt has my green eyes... And I imaigne whatever lucky cub to be your heir might have your blue eyes..." She eyed his shoulder marking. "And that marking... Perhaps some form of birth mark..." A smile danced upon her maw. "Such a complex way to pick the heir..." Such complex ideas she had! And again, her mind wandered to the plains outside the boneyard's borders, and how not only Tu, but Nkechi, Runai and Hidalgo were brown. Perfect cover amid the grass, truly.
Green orbs turned to the geiser. "We should make this a good meeting point... Day and night, it's got good light. And, for those daring enough..." She chuckled. "It even has water."

Ausha followed the lionesses ideas as she marked them out before him, he nodded along, finding no real fault in her logic. "You definately have this whole thing thought out much better than I have." Ausha was always glad to have Ishara around to help with any plots held out in the graveyard.
"Yes, I know what you mean. Perhaps choice as to the continuing of the line should be made simply based on a similarity to those of the blood who have gone before? An aptitude of personality? Or a combination of all those criteria?" Ausha rarely allowed his more serious thoughts to shine through because they unveiled a much more cunning and thought enveloped lion than he thought was good to show. However, with Ishara, it was different, here in this place they talked business, and business wasn't to be taken as a joke.
He cast his gaze around "Sounds like a good idea to me, it's also quite cosy down here, the steam is warm." he didn't mention either that he found the strange green shadows condusive to his thoughts too.
