but in its center there is a circular moat where the palace is
and it's made of a strange white stone that resembles ice sort of
and it's a great place

Valhiri: refers to both dragon & rider once bonded
Vhenan: refers to the bond through which dragon & rider are joined.
+encompasses emotion&instinct
Vhen'alas: the ceremony when rider is chosen by dragon.
+when the boy (always male) comes of age he is sent to the dragon temple. He faces three trials -- past, present, future -- and if he passes these tests he is admitted into the central chamber where only Valhiri have entered. There he begins the blood ritual, an offering of his spirit and his life, which concludes with him plunging a ritual knife into his own heart. If the boy is blessed by the Dragon God then he is chosen by his dragon in the last minutes of his mortal life. Then, by placing a scale of her own (always a female) over the heart wound, the dragon gives of her life to heal the boy. Always afterwards, the boy and dragon are bonded through mind and body.
If the boy is not chosen, or found unworthy, the ritual claims his life.

THE PALACE --
it's a cross, and in each crook of the cross is another min-castle that creates mutiple courtyards - like three, four on each side - and sutff between the castle and the two sides of the cross-castle they face
the rooms above the crook are for things like the loft, the ravens, and servants etc.
the northeast castle, as of yet unnamed is the queen's castle where she and her family live
the northwest castle is for visiting royalty/ nobility of major Houses
the southeast for visiting nobility
the southwest for knights, their squires as well as pages and master-at-arms and everything
