Ayoka waited with excitement. This was her favourite time of the day. Morning. Any moment now the sun would rise from behind the hilly grasslands to shine its glorious warmth across the land. Her eyes moved this way and that as she took in the sounds of creatures awakening slowly around her, it was every early afterall. She moved her dark teal tail this way and that to shoo away those annoying little flies that sometimes appeared around her during the dawn hours.
Ayoka wiggled down on the warm stone that was located outside her cave-like home awaiting mothernatures show. She didn`t have to wait long though and her breath caught when all the colors crossed the sky as well as the earth. Warm fuchsia eyes sparkled by the beauty and after watching for awhile Ayoka decided it was time to start her day. With thoughts of bathing in mind Ayoka began to get ready and make her way to the watering hole a few miles away from her home.

Ishekhesi had spent the night wandering out side of the pridal borders, trying to compose the latest song that was buzzing around inside his head. It was hard to pin down, possibly because he was writing it for a klipspringer about a klipspringer, and, as fond as he was of Esimtoti, Ishekhesi had no experience being a preybeast. Nor of growing up leaping through rocky hills.
Esimtoti had discovered his secret, though, and asked for a song to present to the god of preybeasts, and Iskekhesi wanted to honor his friend and his beliefs. So he was working hard on it, as best as he could. He'd have to keep at it.
The sun was rising, and he ought to get back to the pride soon. There was a water hole near here, though; he would drink, and then return. There was another shrine scheduled to go up today.

Ayoka purred in contentment. She was currently lounging on a low thick tree branch that was suspended over the water. With her paw Ayoka was drawing random patterns lazily enjoying the cooling wetness. It had taken her longer to get to this point as she had ran into other leopard friends of hers along the dirt road. Ayoka dug her claws into the wood to sharpen them boredly, it was good to upkeep them for when she went hunting.
The sounds around Ayoka were calming and familiar, it was nice to relax and enjoy her day. Just when she was dozing off her ear twitched in the direction of the path had taken. A snapping of a twig. Her dozy look changed to one of caution causing her eyes to narrow and ears to lie flat to her head. She opened her mouth to scent the air around her to see what had disturbed the silence. There were many smells, of course that was understandable as many enjoyed a drink or swim to cool off.
"Hello?" Ayoka called out cautiously as well as calmly. She would show no fear, it was to early to case judgement upon the unknown.

Ishekhesi paused as he stooped to drink from the watering hole, and looked up into the tree toward the voice. He had not been expecting anyone to be up this early - no one aside from the birds and early morning lizards anyway.
"Hello," he said, looking up from beneath her branch. "Good morning. I'm sorry to have disturbed you, I was just taking a drink."

Ayoka turned her head towards the male voice a smile broke across her face. He was a handsome fellow with a minty green fur and the black mane looked really nice. " Good morning to you as well lion. I have not seen you around these parts before, I am Ayoka. May I ask for your name as well?" She was enjoying this interaction, it seemed this male knew his manners. She noticed his voice a bit soft and rumbly, it was a lovely tone. "As to your apology there really is no need too as I do not own this water it belongs to all."
Ayoka twisted her body around and came out from her shady tree nook to come closer to inspect the unknown male. Now she wasn't one to be stupid and flirt or throw herself all over a male for attention so she moved a little bit closer not much, there was more than enough space for breathing room. " Are you traveling alone? I myself have been wandering around these parts with a few family members, the older ones not younger."

He sat down, far enough away that he didn't have to crane his neck to see the leopard, but close enough that they could converse easily. He would have to keep an eye on the rising sun, as well; he didn't want to be missing when the pride needed him.
"My name is Ishekhesi, and I live near here, in a pride in the hills, over that way. I'm not really travelling, I just left the lands to have a good think and to clear my head, and prepare for my upcoming task. We're raising a new shrine soon."
Ishekhesi's voice was low and raspy - a hard voice to shout with, let alone roar. It would be hard to hear him if someone wasn't focused on conversing with him.
Aside from the peace and the song writing, Ishekhesi also found that walks were a good way to get his muscles working in preparation for the shifting of the shrine stones. It was a bad idea to be stiff when starting a move; he was always sore after it.
"What brings you and your family to the area? Are you pilgrims?"

She tilted her head and listened as the male spoke of interesting things. "Oh! A shrine how lovely, I have heard of those from passing lioness' on their travels. A task you say?" Ayoka leaned closer, her ears perked in total focus on the male before her, boy was she somewhat nosey.
"Is it a dangerous one? What does it involve?" She asked those questions before answering the ones he asked. "Oh I have lived on my own for sometime now, to be honest those few family members I spoke of earlier are outsiders of the family. I do still speak to them just... not as much as they tend to not want to be around me." She paused here to take a drink of water, her throat was becoming dry. "As for being a pilgrim I guess you can say that? There really is no destination in mind, just exploring lands unknown is my ultimate goal. I can't speak for my family though. I haven't seen my mother and father in a very long while and I have no siblings so yeah."

Ishekhesi tried to explain. "Our pilgrims are those who come to the shrines to either honor the gods or ask that we put up memorials for the dead. Many of the lions and leopards passing through the lands stop in to our own lands to pay some sort of obeisance or just to say a prayer. As for my task, it is not very dangerous, nor very glamorous. I just get harnessed to the shrine stones to erect the next shrine."
Ishekhesi hoped vaguely the leopard didn't notice the bald patches in this mane where the harness rubbed. The shrines were important, but he was still very concerned about how silly he looked with chunks of fur missing.

Ayoka continued to listen intently. "It sounds like you play a major part in the construction of your temple. Without your strength then none of the places of prayer would come to be without your muscle." She shifted her body around to find a more comfortable position, and sighed happily when her back bone snapped a little. Flexing her claws she needled the earth happily and could have purred at the shifting muscles.
"Does this construction usually happen in the mornings? I think that would be best. Full exposure to sunlight could be damaging to some. " Pausing for a breath she continued on a new topic in a light tone. "I would like to see this event happen one time if that were possible, if it isn't against your custom."

"We usually do it in short shifts. We work for a few hours in the morning, break while the sun is high, and then work again. That way we have time to recover, even when there is much to do."
Ishekhesi wasn't, in all honesty, sure what to say to a request to watch the shrines being erected. There will pilgrims trickling in, yes, but it was still a slow trickle. He supposed it would be alright for someone to observe the shrines being constructed; there was nothing saying their couldn't be.
"I don't think the Leader would object to having an observer, as long as you were careful not to get hurt and to stay clear of the actual construction. Pilgrims are allowed to come and go as they please, so I think it would be alright if you did, as well. I would just need to let everyone know that you're a visitor."

"I see, I see." She nodded her head while listening to him explain his prides ways. "Oh that sounds wonderful! We will have to meet up again in the future, a day we both agree upon and then I will have to show you my home. Nothing to glamorous mind you. There isn't much to the rogue lands but its home." She smiled before a distant sound stolen her attention. Her head turned, eyes narrowed, and her ears shooting forward she stayed in that position for a few minutes before turning back slowly, sadly.
" Well I guess that is my que to leave, I am being called by the others I stay with. It was really nice to meet you and oh! I don't think I even told you my name! It's Ayoka." She shook her head at her rudeness wishing she had more time. " I say we meet up in a months time and do the things we didn't get done today, it would be so nice. Right here underneath this overhanging tree!"

Ishekhesi nodded his agreement and promised to meet the leopard again. It was nice to get the word out about the work they were doing. He watched her go, and then headed back to his own lands, ready to get work done for the day.
