"I didn't really understand why they felt the need to include the extra subplot with the creepy old man," Chris said with a frown as he and Daniel made their way down the street, away from the emptying movie theatre. It might seem kind of lame for a couple of guys to go to the movies together, to some, but Chris and Daniel had their lame moments, so it wasn't all that surprising. Besides, they'd been friends for almost five full years. It was perfectly acceptable for them to hang out wherever they wanted, right...?
It wasn't too horribly late, but it was still getting dark. Chris had wanted to hang out at least one night before he was gone for almost three weeks at a summer camp for little children, so why not go out to see a movie with a friend?
The idea had been to just walk home afterwards, but once they'd got to the point where there were fewer and fewer people, Chris was starting to getting really ominous, sinking feelings in his gut.
"Maybe I should have driven..." he said, mostly to himself as he glanced down an alleyway they passed by. He was usually fine being out at night, but... he was just getting bad feelings... Maybe he was being paranoid?

"Yeah, I didn't get it either. I thought it was just me..." Daniel rubbed at the back of his head. Sometimes the still-present language barrier made it hard to understand what was going on in movies, but he was still lightyears beyond what it had been when he had first come to America.
The first movie Chris had taken him to had to have been carefully puzzled together afterward. Actors talked so fast !
Chris seemed oddly worried, and that only made Daniel worried in turn. "We could call a cab ?" Money was never a problem for him, really, and if it kept Chris from going apeshit...
Suddenly, through, there was a screech in the air - and Daniel stopped cold. "D-Did you hear that ?" That had to be his imagination. He hoped that had just been his imagination and that Chris was about to poke fun at him.

Chris was impressed how well Daniel was adapting to everything in America, because yeah, the first movie he'd seen needed a good three hours to explain what had happened, it seems like. But at least they could actually discuss more things, like plots and characters and things like that now!! Well, they were both in college now, so they were a little more grown up than awkward fourteen-year-olds.
He was just about to shake his head in response to getting a cab when the screech rang out. Well, crap...
"Get back, Daniel!" he said, feeling a sudden sensation in his chest. A monster had appeared! He just couldn't see it! Chris pushed his friend out of the way, back against the building. If there was something there, then they needed to stay out of any open areas for it to swoop down and snatch them up.
"Listen," he said, turning to his friend and trying not to freak him out too much. "I'm not a normal guy, okay? Remember those costumed people that saved you? I'm one of them..." he quickly tried to explain while keeping an eye out for the youma. Thankfully there weren't any others around, so he didn't have to worry about them being attacked.
Oh yeah... or them finding out he was really a knight... that was kind of important too...
As he had done on a handful of times before, Chris focused on the compass he'd first touched and in a flash he was no longer the same person who had been standing there before, but what looked like a wannabe-viking lord or something.
"I'm Valhalla page of Jupiter, but you can't tell anyone, promise??" he nearly begged, not wanting Daniel in even more danger than he already was.

Before Daniel could do much, he was pushed right against the building - thankfully not hard enough to hurt, but quickly enough to startle.
Then it all happened so quickly - not a normal guy, costumed people... And before he could truly process what he'd just been told, Chris was gone in a flash and there was someone else standing here in his place.
Only not really, but it might as well have been. Daniel blinked, once, twice, as his brain desperately tried to catch up and process a logical explanation to what he had just witnessed.
Unfortunately, there wasn't any. "Was ?" The intonation betrayed it as the german 'what' rather than the word Chris - no, Valhalla - would be more familiar with.
At least Daniel hadn't taken off running.
There was another screech - but yet no youma in sight.

Okay... Powered up? Check... Daniel relatively safe and/or in sight? Check... Lame a** weapon.... check...
Valhalla clutched tightly to the compass that was now in his hand, making sure that Daniel was still between the wall of the building and himself, not wanting anything to attack without at least knowing where it was coming from. Uh... of course he couldn't really do much with his weapon... He figured he should probably let his friend know that...
"So... I'm... kind of new at this," he admitted, ducking his head down in shame. "I swear I was going to tell you... I just... didn't really get a good opportunity before," he tried to explain, although he didn't look at Daniel as he said it, but instead he kept looking up for where the youma sounded like it was coming from.
Of course, he didn't want Daniel to start freaking out! That would be bad... He just wanted him to be at least aware of what was going on.
"Damnit, I can't see where it is," he hissed under his breath, reaching out to grab onto his friend's arm, tugging him along to move with him. "Look, I don't know if I'll be able to fight it off... I've... never done this on my own before..." Oh that was probably instilling a whole bunch of confidence in him... "So if I tell you to run, you run, okay??"
This was going to suck. He already knew it.

Daniel apparently decided that the questions would come later - for now, he was just going to pretend these was nothing weird at all with watching your best friend fend off some kind of beasty with a compass while looking like a viking.
No, nothing weird at all. There was little that Daniel could do but follow - Chr- Valhalla seemed to be pulling him a whole lot stronger than usual.
Then, something zipped right over his head. Daniel did exactly what one would expect him to do.
"s**t IT'S ON ME !"
Well, not really, Valhalla had pulled just at the right moment, through the large eagle youma has a tuff of purple hair in one of it's sharp-looking talons as it continued it's course.
Daniel was pretty much white as a sheet at this point.

Questioning later was probably for the best, anyway. Just as long as they both kept low and alive, he would tell Daniel everything he ever wanted to know and more. Well... at least from what he knew, himself...
"s**t!!" he swore, now grabbing onto Daniel's arm and all but dragging him with him as he ran for somewhere to take cover, ducking down in an entrance to an alleyway and trying to pull his friend down to duck with him. "s**t, are you okay??" Well, crap... He hadn't even seen that youma!
Valhalla turned to glance around for what they could use, grabbing onto the handle of a trashcan and pulling it over so he could grab the lid and force it into Daniel's hands. "Keep that over your head and stay low," he said with low growl, although he was clearly just really tense and... hoping that Daniel wouldn't freak out even more if he at least thought he knew what he was doing.
The youma screeched from somewhere above them, even though they couldn't see it. Damn... that wasn't good. He could feel it, of course... or at least he thought he could feel it. He didn't know what else would cause the sensation he felt...
"Okay... See that stairwell? Leading to someone's basement?" he asked, trying to keep his voice low as he pointed across the narrow street to one of the many city homes in the area. "When I say go, we're going to get under cover down there, okay...?" It was the best he could think of doing...
Of course, that would have been ideal if a shiver didn't just shoot down his spine as another screech echoed the alley way from the opposite direction. What the hell?? Was there a nest of these guys??

"Y-Yeah, I t-think I am." His head was still on his shoulders, at least. That was a good sign, at least. "I think it j-just got my hair."
Still pretty damn traumatizing, through. And it hurted - Daniel was rubbing at it when he was offered the make-shift shield. Daniel accepted it as an automatism and did exactly as he was told, too scared to argue much of anything.
Not that Daniel made an habit to argue back. He just nodded at what Valhalla said next, eyes still wide.
That was true - they were not alone, through it was thankfully in their favor.
Themis was getting more than a little sick of this, honestly. He'd been chasing that damn youma for a few minutes now. He had seen nearly every damn type of youma now, it seemed - the spiders were one bane of his existence, but the flyers were another.
Mainly because the super senshi of noise couldn't fly. He'd broken two windows so far (and hoped no one had noticed) and was now surprised that the youma had stopped - through he seemed to figure why.
That aura. It was... Just like Camelot, and yet... not... ?
This was worth investigating, but... first things first. "You will get the ********. DOWN !"
Followed by another youma screech at once again flew out of the way of Themis' projectile. "You have got to be shitting me !"

Valhalla frowned to himself, wishing there was a better way to keep Daniel out of danger, but was interrupted by a sudden shout. He nearly fell over, sputtering in surprise when another costumed man came out of the shadows, although he ducked down when the young man threw something, not wanting to be hit -- Oh it was for the youma.
Glancing over his shoulder to make sure Daniel was still down and hopefully out of reach, Valhalla scrambled to his feet. "I'll distract it if you can hit it when it comes down again," he said to the other, not knowing what he was... but he definitely felt more powerful than the others he'd met so far... And he didn't feel like a dark presence, so that was good... right? W-well, at least he was trying to take down the youma too, at least?? Maybe?
Valhalla stepped out of the alley, looking up at the sky as he dropped the compass in his hand down to hang at full length on its golden chain. He wasn't really sure if it would work... but he knew some birds were attracted to shiny things. Maybe Daniel needed to switch shampoos to keep his hair from being so appealing to bird youma...?
He swung the compass into the air, letting it spin in a full circle as slowly as possible without having to worry about it loosing its centrifugal force keeping it in the air. If anything, maybe he'd be able to hit the bird when it came back down... but right now he couldn't see it... only hear its screeching.

Daniel had taken to hiding in the alley, trash can cover-shield still in place, ready to bolt at a moment's notice, watching the scene with both fear and... interest ?
Yes, it seemed not even fear could truly squash Daniel's curiosity. And... Wasn't that the one who had showed up the other time, too ?!
Uhhh...
Themis nodded his approval, looking up to the sky. "Flyers are the worst. I've been chasing this damn thing around the block..." The pleasantries would have to wait until after the youma was dead, it seemed.
Another screech. "It's coming !" And it was, indeed, going straight for the compass this time around.

"You okay, Daniel??" Valhalla asked over his shoulder, though his eyes remained fixed to the sky, not wanting to give the youma an opportunity to surprise them again. He hated that his friend was being dragged into this, but whoever this other guy was... he seemed to know how to fight them a little better. Thank goodness.
He nodded, hearing the screech as well, and finally catching a glimpse of the giant bird monster as it came down, talons extended, reaching for the compass as it twirled around. Valhalla happily gave it up, letting go of the end of the chain once it reached the top of the circle it was forming, watching as it flew into the air. It was a pointless weapon, anyway... If it broke or disappeared forever, he probably wouldn't be all that upset.
Hopefully that gave the other guy enough time to... uh... do something.

"Im fine !" Just.. hiding. Like a boss. Yes. These two looked like they had it under control. Right ?
Right. He'd just stay there, with his makeshift shield... Hiding vailliantly behind those crates. Yup.
He only hoped he hadn't lured the monster right back toward him by talking...
Themis looked in the same direction than Valhalla did when he asked for Daniel. Crap, a civilian ?
Civilians were always tricky to fight around with. Themis had nothing against breaking objects and windows, but injuring someone in the crossfire wasn't something he ever wanted to do..
"I'll lure it away." The youma was coming down now, and the senshi rose his arm. "Themis Noise Storm !"
The youma screeched once more, now clearly distracted by... something. Just long enough for the compass to smack it head on, sending it on the ground.
And now that it was on the ground, Themis had no intention to let it back up. It was a large bird, but still easily punted right into the opposite wall, the farest away from Daniel as possible.
Goal ?

He certainly hoped Daniel didn't end up luring the monster to him! He would have been very angry if it tried attacking his friend again.
Valhalla blinked in surprise at the senshi's attack. Well, that was rather nifty, wasn't it?? Useful, definitely. More useful than a stinking compass on a chain. He watched as the bird came down, although he held out a hand to catch the falling compass, first, before running over to the fallen monster that had been kicked across the alley.
It tried getting back up, but after having to fight one flying monster before, Valhalla grabbed onto one of its wings and spun it around and into the wall again. He was rather wary of the tallons and beak, but if he could keep it from curling up to get him, the large bird wouldn't stand a chance. And he wasn't about to let go until it was gone.

From experience, Themis knew that Daniel was more of less safe - most youma he had fought had the animalistic habit of going for the strongest power source.
Which, if he believed Valhalla's reactions earlier, currently happened to be him. Not that the page was doing half bad, really... Well, as far as he knew.
Camelot had also done pretty good with him in spite of having a shield for all of 30 seconds at that point.
BANG went the youma, letting out a screech of pain this time. It wasn't dusted quite yet, and Themis didn't want to start throwing things and accidentally hit the knight.
He looked like he had it under control, so he just moved to instinctively block the way to Daniel. Just in case. You never knew with these damn things.

Yes, please don't start throwing stuff at him. That might be bad, especially if he lost his grip.
It didn't really matter, though, because a couple more hits against the wall, a few screeches and flailing of the youma in response, and it burst into a cloud of dust. Usually he wasn't such a violent person, but when fighting monsters like this, he had to remind himself that... these things weren't going to stop. They had to get rid of them, unless they wanted there to be victims. Heck, it almost grabbed Daniel.
Speaking of Daniel... Valhalla turned around to see how his friend was doing, glad to see that he was still hiding and being protected by the senshi. Good... He was also glad that he had protective leather things on his arms, because the youma had tried scratching at him, but only got the back of his hand — something he could easily pass off as his dog needing to get her nails trimmed.
"Are you okay?" he asked, worried about his friend, but not yet powering down. Not while there was senshi standing there.
He could feel his power more clearly now, and it made Valhalla stand up a little straighter, not really knowing why he was getting the sense that this person was a lot stronger than he was... Probably because he was...
"Valhalla... of Jupiter..." he introduced, although standing a little closer to make sure Daniel wasn't going to get attacked. "Thanks... for helping with that," he said, offering a hand to shake. If it hadn't been for this guy, he didn't know if he would have been able to take down the monster on his own or not... Probably not...
