Ok, you know the tingly feeling when you have energy running through your finger tips, palm and hand? Well. Yeah. Energy manipulation. Real big whoop. I'm sure everyone here knows what I mean.
If any don't. It's simple. You have energy you control using your willpower. You feel, shape, mold, manipulate and use the energy. It's channeled from your hands. Well, it can be channeled several different ways. Ok, moving on!
Ki energy. The energy that martial artist's strikes are empowered with. Now, I'm no expert on Ki mind you. ... Truthfully a bit of a novice. ... Dabbler. ... Yeah don't take Ki lessons from me... xd
But basically. Manipulating energy with your hands, and Ki aren't that different. I've felt Ki in my hands long before I knew what it was. Keep in mind I started dabbling in witchcraft a long time before I started practicing self defense.
So with that being said. I've been looking at some devilish possibilities. That really, aren't that complex or hard to grasp. It's simply combining self defense and magical energy.
This is my theory. I think that with enough regular practice. You could disrupt someone's energy as you strike them. Since you would be channeling energy through your strike. I want to take it a step further though.
It's simple. Have a spell prepared. Attack. Release the spell through your attack. Oh, and think of the grappling aspects. You're grappling with someone. The fact you're making contact with their skin could give you the perfect opportunity to fill them with energy causing doubt in their skills to build.
Well, anyways. I'm looking into it. Anyone else got something to say on the matter?

I never really worked with it that way. It does sound interesting tho.
I get that tingly feeling on my hands and fingers when I'm meditating. But my meditating skills suck.
If i'd give it a try, I'd probably get the idea I'm imagining things.

First, I'd like to point out that Ki (Qi, Chi Ch'i) is not specifically a part of martial arts. The concept is part of Chinese philosophy, the idea being that it is inherent in all things. A balance in Ki is supposed to be the key to good health according to this belief. So, of course, if a person adheres to this philosophy, it's going to be incorporated in every aspect of their life, including martial arts. Ki is -not- something that simply comes with practicing martial arts. It is in no way "required".
Most martial arts styles focus on the union of mind and body. Mind over matter and the application of that to ones physical self.
The concept of Ki is that it is in -everything-. If you believe in Ki then energy and Ki should be no different. Energy is simply the westernized version of Ki. If you believe in Ki then you cannot combine the two, as energy IS Ki.
The concept of energy is a fairly universal one, it simply goes by different names, depending on the culture. To try and combine two things of different names, though the same, would be redundant.
Simply put, there really is no difference between the two concepts. Also, the idea of Ki being used in "spells" has already been done, simply by the application of it to martial arts.
Now, the combining of Ki and Reiki is an interesting idea that I've seen floated around in a few places.
