User ImageLife as the Page of Cosmos was not easy. Very little of it made sense, mostly because he tried to push away any mysterious voices that attempted to talk to him. And left and right things seemed to attacking him and harrassing him. If he were smart he'd probably be better off just to never call forth the powers that wrapped him in brillantly white and blue costume.. and yet... he was getting nervous in his late night walks home. And if nothing more he seemed so much faster when wearing his silly new costume in case he DID need to run.

So after he'd closed the arcade for the night Corey Boone had doned his magical threads and began to make his way home.

"H...hey handsome" The voice and words had startled him enough that he almost dropped his bowl, stopping in his tracks to look cautiously for the cause. He sighed in relief when he found nothing more then a sloppily drunk young lady. Her clothing was normal club clothing.. and as she drew near her actions were similarily normal.. and non aggressive.

"That's quite the outfit" The girl purred as she staggered her way over to him. As she stumbled on her tall heels he was kind enough to catch her. From this close her breath reeked of liquor, her arms wrapping around his neck, standing on her tiptoes as her lips puckered with her sing song musing. "My herooo...."

Bimini glanced around mildly before his eyes returned to the very drunk girl. She was so short and so young.. was she even old enough to be this drunk? Didn't she have friends? What was she doing out so late alone? There were all sorts of people out there.. people like Corey Boone.

She was certainly cute.. and it'd been awhile since he'd had a woman in his arms. It wouldn't hurt to play along for a little while would it? A little making out never hurt anyone.. it wasn't like he was going to take complete advantage of her. He could even walk her home safe and sound afterwards after all! Keep her safe.

As his lips pressed against hers he could still taste the liquor on her lips and breath. Her returned enthusism led them to the wall of the nearest alley, his body shadowing hers for the most part. The alcohol was getting to him and his lips trailed downwards, coming to rest on her neck as a slew of giggles and drunken mummers escaped her. He was halfway on his mission to a badass hicky when her voice shrieked in a drunken squeal that echo'd through the streets.

Sailor Vulcan knew what it was to be lost and confused.

It was different for Super Van, who'd followed her ignorant confidence through a black sea of danger. She had not needed a path to follow, because she'd made her own. Everything was simple, back then.

There were monsters. There were bad guys. There were innocent people in need of a hero.

And then there was Super Van.

The most Super Van had known about the Negaverse, if she'd really known anything at all, was that they'd killed one of her dearest friends. She also knew that Super Van was too weak to protect him.

Somehow, inexplicably, becoming the Senshi of Volcanoes had made everything harder. She had strength and power, but was still nothing compared to warriors the likes of Sailor Ares, and Sailor Nemesis, or even the Dread Sisters.

May they rest in peace.

Worse than that was the realization that she did not even want to be.

They were supposed to be the good guys-- leaders that she could look up to for their virtue and their decency, instead of resenting for their darkness. And the darkness that they'd awoken in her own soul.

Sailor Vulcan was no monster, damnit.

Sailor Vulcan was a defender of the weak, a protector of the poor, and saviour of silly drunken girls who let strange looking Negaverse officers suck on their necks.

"HEY!"

She shouted at the unfortunate Bimini, having followed the sound of his make out buddy's shriek to their location. Her hand closed like a vice around his shoulder, and Sailor Vulcan whipped him around so that she could punch him in the face.

He probably should have felt bad.. or ashamed. But soft skin and kisses felt so nice.

Punches to the face however. Not so much.

The hand on his shoulder was startling and as he was uncerimoniously whipped around he had no time try and figure out what the hell, let alone respond. It felt like fire ripping through his face, fire from the freaking mac truck that had hit him.

A garbled sound of surprise and pain escaped him, and his makeout buddy took the sight of the sudden fight springing out almost on top of her as a sign that she needed to sober up and get the hell out of dodge. She was already disapearing around a corner by the time Bimini had stumbled back from Vulcan.

A hand clutched his nose, his other scooping his bowl up from the place he'd set it on the ground before his little makeout session. His eyes narrowed at the mysterious girl.. in barefeet.. and booty shorts.

"Hey!!" It was the best retort he could think of, still reeling from pain and surprise. And without thought he tossed the contents of his bowl at her. Maybe she'd trip or something on the water.. it was about all he could pray. But thanks to Illmenite and Painite he'd learned his lesson about playing nice with people that dressed like lunatics and tried to attack him.

Hell.. this one hadn't even PRETENDED to play nice like the other two had. Who knew what she was capable of. His eyes glanced around. In which direction did he want to attempt his retreat?

It was late and the sun had long since gone to bed, but the night was warm. Vulcan gasped and spluttered when Bimini splashed her with the water from his bowl. She gaped first at him and then at herself, watching with no small amount of incredulity as the liquid seeped slowly into her fuku, and was… confused.

All of the lieutenants she'd met, though she didn't know they were lieutenants, had sorry excuses for weapons.

Lawn flamingos. Hula hoops. Batons.

Except. Those things weren't exactly harmless. They hurt, at least, to be whacked with.

Bimini's water bowl was similar. It was clear to her, however, that nobody had taught him how to use it effectively. Vulcan arched an eyebrow when the strange looking Negaverse officer started looking for a way out, and pointed at him with one steady, crime-fighting finger.

"Don't even think about it, buddy," there was a challenge on Vulcan's voice. She closed the distance between them with a couple of long strides, grabbed Bimini by the front of his robes, and tugged him close so that she could snarl in his face. "I'm going to make sure you can't hurt any other girls ever again."

It was turning out to be a common reaction. As they seemed to wait for something to happen.. only to find nothing... nothing but water. It was kind of embarrasing to tell the truth. But he nonetheless hoped everytime that the water would be enough.. that he wouldn't have to resort to actually hitting someone with the thick metal bowl. Bimini didn't want to fight for crying out loud!

And as Vulcan grabbed him by his robes and drew him close Bimini found it hard to figure out if she or Painite was more terrifying. And Painite had a damn javelin that she was trying to shish kabob him with!

"I don't want to hurt anyone" He wailed pathetically, nonetheless swinging his metal bowl in complete contridiction. It wasn't a very good swing considering he was all trapped in his robes and squished up against her. It hit her in the side however, albeit without a whole ton of strength.

It wasn't always easy for Vulcan to stop when she got started. This had less to do with any real craving for blood, and everything to do with enthusiasm. Vulcan wasn't a sadist. Vulcan was a hero. And she wasn't about to stand back and let this snivelling excuse for a bad guy get away just because he looked scared. That was good. He should be frightened of her.

She was a BAMF. (Vanessa had discovered the magic of internet forums over the weekend. This was her favourite abbreviation.)

Except.

He didn't want to hurt anyone.

"Don't play games with me," Vulcan's eyes still glowed with a wrathful fire. Her hands still fisted in Bimini's robes, and kept him close. But there was something softer about her voice-- could it be uncertainty? She looked him up and down, and scowled when he smacked her with that bowl.

"I wasn't born yesterday," she said, "I've seen movies. I know you're lying to me so I'll let you go."

It was neither pretty nor manly for a grown man to cry. But as the senshi held him up against the wall, fingers wrapped so deftly in the fabric folds of his robes that was exactly what he began to do.

It had been a fairly frusterating and confusing past few weeks. Magical powers out of nowhere.. a joke of a costume and 'weapon'. People and monsters trying to kill him left and right. No explainations whatsoever. Maybe he was just lucky he'd held on this long. But it seemed his time was up and in a sob he gave up, not trying to fight the grip she held him with, his bowl long ago gone, clattered across the pavement.

"Just hurry up and do it" He lamented amid his tears. "I won't resist"

Maybe he'd just bought himself some time from a death that was inevitably coming. He thought he was too young to die. But what did he know about fate and destiny.

"Being pound into cosmic dust is a fitting enough end for a page of the cosmos I guess."

Of all the things Vulcan expected, this was the last. Confused, uncomprehending, she watched the tears that streamed down Bimini's cheeks with no small amount of awe. The vengeful blaze in her golden eyes transformed gradually into a soft glow. Her hands relaxed where they gripped his clothes.

Oh god, he was crying.

"What's the matter with you?" She tried, sounding a little bit frantic, "Bad guys aren't-

Whatever she was about to say was interrupted by Bimini's helpless wail of a surrender. Vulcan blinked at him, surprised, and knew at once that she could never raise a hand to him again. Guilt twisted in the pit of her stomach. It was sharp, like a knife, and made her feel more than a little bit sick.

While her hold on Bimini was considerably less threatening, Vulcan kept him pinned against the wall. Not out of malice or rage. It was probably more accurate to say that she'd simply forgotten to let him go.

It was good, that he kept on talking. The title he used sparked something in her memory.

Gehenna was a page.

"I'm Sailor Vulcan, Senshi of Volcanoes," she said, and stared boldly into his eyes. Her expression was not… unkind. "What is your name?"

He was too busy crying to notice the change in her expression at first.. but he probably noticed the soft loosening of her grip. It was her words that finally drew him out of his incoherent lamenting.

"Bimini, page of the Cosmos" He had almost wondered if he should have used his real name. Lest he might possibly disappear off the face of the earth without anyone to know. Sure he didn't talk to his parents much.. but they deserved atleast to know their child was dead. Not to mention his employees.. what would happen to Electric Dreams if he just disappeared today.

Her introduction was.. foreign to him.. having never met a senshi at all. It wasn't the same sort of introduction as Ilmenite however. "What is a senshi..?" He sniffled, finally looking up at her and noticing the.. strange change in his captor.

Bimini. Page of the Cosmos.

Oh god.

He wasn't a member of the Negaverse. He was a knight, the same way Gehenna was a knight. Except Bimini was as much unlike Gehenna and the idea of knights that Vanessa had cherished since her girlhood, as it was possible to get. Knights didn't throw water at their assailants. Knights didn't brandish wooden bowls instead of swords. Knights didn't cry.

It was difficult for Vulcan to wrap her head around why, in the name of everything that was just, this man had been promoted for their cause. Vulcan knew little about how knights came to be, but it was clear to her that nobody had taken the time to prepare Bimini for the life of a hero.

"Senshi are warriors," she explained softly. A regretful sigh slipped from between Vulcan's lips, and she stepped away from Bimini with an apologetic smile. "We're protectors."

"You know," Vulcan reached out, and readjusted the front of Bimin's robes. They were crinkled from the way she'd clutched them. She tried to smooth his collar with her hands. "Good guys."

"I'm sorry I hit you, Bimini."

The 360 was uncomfortable, making him went to sigh like she had, though really he was still trying to push away his sniffling. Attempting to take in the information that was.. strange to say the least.

Senshi were protectors.. good guys. So then.. was it possible the people he'd met before.. could they have been bad guys? There were pieces in the back of his mind, ones that were slowly wedging together. It'd likely be hours or days before they fully fit together.. but for now..

He believed her. It was probably her face, or the sound of her voice when she apologized. But he believed that she wasn't going to hurt him.

His eyes still shined from the moisture that had been there but there was no longer fear or that patheticness that had been there before. A soft and somber curiousness stared back at her.

"It's alright. We all make mistakes"

"Thanks for not hitting me anymore" His lips twitched in a soft half smile as he adjusted himself and helped her in soothing his robes.

There was nothing else he could have said that would have made Vulcan feel better about herself. The sincerity of his forgiveness was incredibly heartwarming. It meant more to her than he could possibly have guessed, and the truth of this shone in her own eyes now.

'We all make mistakes.'

Vulcan just made them more often than everybody else. Still, despite this grievous (and possibly fatal) misunderstanding, Vulcan found herself comforted by Bimini's words.

And then was a little embarrassed, for needing comforting at all. He was the one who'd suffered. Who knew what might have happened, if her mighty fists hadn't reduced this poor page to tears?

She smiled at Bimini then, collected his wooden bowl from the ground, and then held it out to him.

"You're new to this, aren't you?"

There was nothing criticizing or scolding about Vulcan's words. Before becoming Sailor Vulcan her own knowledge regarding the true nature of the monsters and the villains that plagued Destiny City was nonexistent. She'd known only that they were bad guys. And that Super Van was a hero.

"Very much so" He smiled sheepishly in response to the question, though he was hardly surprised by it. Bimini exuded greenness and inexperience, and with situations like what had just happened... yeah.

He was more happy to be alive, and to maybe be taking one step closer to not being so clueless, then he was upset about the fact other people might think he sucked.

His bowl was empty from it's fall, so as he took it, he leaned it lightly against his midsection, supporting it with one hand.

Curiousity got the better of him.. and with her.. friendlier disposition now he took a moment to ask a little more. "What is the difference between senshi and knights..?" She said they were good guys and protectors.. But wasn't that kind of like what Gehenna had said knights were?
PostPosted: Thu Aug 11, 2011 3:01 pm

"Honestly?" the smile Vulcan had to offer Bimini now was lopsided, and a little bit apologetic. Understanding shone in those bright golden eyes. She tugged her fingers through her curls, and wished that she had the answers for every question he probably had. "I'm not really sure. What the difference is, I mean."

"Besides you, I've only met one other knight." The senshi chose a seat on the sidewalk and, inviting Bimini to sit, patted the cement beside her. It was not the most ideal setting for a conversation of this nature. They were awfully vulnerable, out in the open like this.

But the truth was that their respective energies would draw their mutual enemies like a moth to a flame. Nowhere was safe. There was only security in numbers. Vulcan rather thought that Bimini could afford to find himself some allies.

"I think you guys are pretty new. The senshi have been around much longer, and the Negaverse… at least as long as the senshi. I don't really know. They're the guys you have to look out for."

"I thought you were one of them. Knights sorta look like Agents, you know. They carry weapons. Sometimes weapons that are just as useless as that bowl of yours. I've seen one with a lawn flamingo, and another with a hula hoop."

He didn't have to be asked twice, slowly sliding down to the pavement, taking just a few moments to settle all of the fabric around him before his eyes returned to her. Wide, interested. He would have to be very careful in the future, if he looked a lot like the enemies of the senshi.. he didn't really want to get caught in the cross fire again on accident.

He cracked a bit of grin as she mentioned the fail weapons. Hula hoop and lawn flamingo.. that was pretty funny. Whether or not they were as seemingly useless as his he couldn't say.. but atleast he wasn't the craziest looking person running around the joint.

"I'm guessing you senshi don't have weapons then? That's pretty dangerous... even if their weapons do suck"
